I did it years ago on my Tundra. I am doing a new modification years later & for the life of me, I forgot how I did it. Your video was a perfect reminder. 👍
Same here. When I finally got it out I could see how the metal socket fit into the notches on plastic case (1:33) and also where a small tab on the plastic case would fit in the "L" shaped cutouts on the socket (1:00). If I had known about those features of the plastic case before I tried removing the socket, I think it would have been easier.
Hi, I'm just curious what colours the ground and positive were on the back. Was it gray positive and white/black for ground? Any ways I replaced the lighter a while ago but now it shorts out whenever I depress the lighter. It wasn't blowing fuses when I changed the assembly for the first year or so, now it's every time. Getting sick of troubleshooting with a small collection of blown 15 amp fuses lol.
I don't remember, but the wires are attached to a plug that only goes on one way. You might be able to find the schematic online or remove the ashtray and possibly get a look at the plug from the back.
Tim Fisher thanks for quick reply. The harness has been cut right after the junction that is pinned to the left side of the ashtray. Six wires all together and 5 have power when its on ignition. I will try to find a diagram online. Thanks again!
I wish this explained how to get it out of the dash itself. I ended up breaking and now I can’t find a replacement. Plus Toyota decided that the light inside is proprietary and cannot be replaced if it goes out!
