    Well, I'm a Motovlogger and have been following your channel for some time. I also tried 10s of config and the best I found was the DJI Mic + Sony ECM-LV1 lavalier. Then recently I tried the RODE Wireless Me and it beats the DJI due to its 32-bit float, even though I'd prefer to keep my DJI Mic for its compactness and practicality.

      I have a serious question i.e. should I use DJI Mic adapter with Sony ECM-LV1 lavalier Mic, or should I go for Samsung AKG C type earphone for MOTOVLOGGING ?

    As a new moto vlogger, I really appreciate your content! I’m on the Osmo 1 and basically can’t record into the camera as it’s way too sensitive with no adjustments. I don’t want to use a rode/dji wireless setup as I’m doing more long form adventure vlogs and don’t have time for the hassle. Hoping to get the osmo 4 and just plug straight into the camera with reduced gain. Thanks for the insight!

    Also, I've had the D4 Duo for years and completely forgot it can use a second mic instead of the rear capsule! Cool idea. I think that would work using a longer audio cable and then chucking the D4 Duo in a backpack, however you would get a cable running out from your chin to your back. Certainly a way to make that work. If I ever test this on a bike I'll make sure to tag you.

    Also not a motorcycle rider but I sure enjoyed this video. Who knows- I might encounter a similar situation with my Osmo Action 4 and I'll know how to dual up some mics. Thanks for sharing this.

    Thank you for figuring these things out for us! Still hoping that one of the DJI Action cameras will eventually work with the DJI Mic 2, but barring that, this is a great albeit relatively expensive solution compared to going with no-brand stuff that works fine with GoPros. Just how it is when using the otherwise solid Action 3.

    thank you for doing this type of videos, though I let go of my action 3 already and took the action 4,,, I haven't experienced any clipping using adapters on action 4 but I just encountered some disconnect not sure if because of the wind, waiting for availability here in the Phlippines I will give motovloggers more confidence the the audio will not mess up since its a snug fit to the camera.

    Forget Rode! A better option is to use a iPhone old head seat that has 3.5mic jack. The one from Iphone 5, for example. Cut the headphones and just use the mic. Way better mic then anything on the market.
    Bear in mind that with the iPhone headseat you need a TRRS to TRS converter cable. Rode SC3 for example.

    Awesome video. How do you mix 2 channels of audio into stereo?

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think mic placement depends a lot on each person's personal preference with their camera setups on their bikes. If you only run a single camera mounted to the chin of your helmet, you'll need to devise a place to mount a 2nd mic (which would entail additional cabling). If your camera is mounted on your bike, that would entail a different kind of mic placement.
      Alternatively, you could run 2 lavs in your helmet (one inside for your voice and the other more exposed outside of the helmet) instead of using something like the D4 Duo.

    Thanks for that, this is the exact issue ive been having with the Action 3, was actually about to push the buy now button on another camera. Do you notice any difference between the Action 3 and 4 using this adaptor? I had a chat to DJI and they said that its not optimised for the 3 so it might not work to its full potential. Any other adaptor on the 3 just processes way too much wind noise under the helmet and makes it unusable.

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't noticed any major differences. There may be some at the far end of the cameras' gain levels (as they are different between the 3 & 4) but it seems to perform similarly in both cameras.

    Hello Wayne!!! This is awesome! I bought the adapter the other day on your recommendation and tested it for the first time yesterday.
    Really promising results, my only issue was wind noise but I’m sure if play around with position that issue will be sorted.
    The perfect scenario for a motovlogger (in my opinion) is to have I EVERYTHING remain inside the helmet. With the two mics you suggested, that would be a bit difficult.
    Have you got any recs for mics that can be hidden inside the helmet (maybe at the back of the head?) which could be used to record the bike sounds?
    We’re so close to the perfect set up here this is really exciting!!!

    • @gigihanmandarin

    Hey Wayne, I am enjoying your videos as I just ordered the Action 3. I am doing off road vlogging. Sometimes in town, other times trails in the mountains, other times sitting in my recliner (LOL!). What would you suggest as far as a good mid-price point wireless mic? My Jeep is lifted and inside it will echo a bit from the fiberglass hardtop and leather seats. Just trying to make my content better, more enjoyable to create, and for others to watch. Tired of holding an iPhone while trail riding or even sitting in the recliner.

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The BY-K4 will work also, though that adapter seems to apply more gain to your mic as opposed to the DJI Mic Adapter which seems to attenuate the mic signal. So, if you're using it for moto activities and experience clipped audio, the DJI adapter helps in that regard.

      I think it depends on if the splitter cable can pass adequate plug-in power to both lavs. If not, potentially only 1 of the lavs would work. If your lavs have their own batteries, then a splitter should be able to send one L & the other R.

    • @WayneRECs
      @WayneRECs  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Mic 2 is mono only and when connected via BT directly to an Action 4, the Action 4 PRO menu removes the options for Mono/Stereo & Wind Reduction and replaces them with 3 Mic 2 only options (Gain, Mic 2 Mute & Mic 2 Noise Reduction)
      My hope is that one day DJI enables the ability to record multiple separate audio tracks (like in the Pocket 3) so you could record both the internal camera mics as well as any external mic/device as separate wav files, but we'll have to see if that is ever rolled out or if it becomes an Action 5 "feature" lol

    Do you actually motovlog? Seems as though you don't. You're not adding the sound the wind creates in your helmet. I have a Shoei RF1400 and still get wind inside. Your mic setup doesn't work well at all. And your suggestion that you attach the second mic to the camera is ludicrous. Most motovloggers have their cameras by the front chin vents. Adding a large mic to it is just a ridiculous idea.
    You have decent content for other videos but until you've been there and done that....don't give us your suggestions.
