Just saw The Post, excellent film. I also recommend 1971, these times have returned, I'm glad we have a free press, and this story is being told again.
Watching this after having seen "All the President's Men", I am impressed with how well the film got it right. The set, the actors, the feel of the film is very close to what is seen in this piece.
My dad worked in a newsroom for 35 years, it's true that there were florescent lights, white ceilings stained with cigarette smoke, the klacky klack of teletypes and ring of typewriters. There also were extremely hard working professionals with relatively low pay, TV's everywhere tuned to the 3 network nightly news, uncomfortable chairs on rollers, desk fans, carbon paper, stern faces, neckties, occasional loud bouts of laughter, fear of the boss, handwritten warnings of what not to do. No employee of the month program anywhere to be found. Professionals just did their job every single day.
It’s uncanny how well Streep and Hanks portrayed Graham and Bradlee respectively, both in terms of appearance and demeanor. They both did an incredible job.
The post was I think a very good movie and Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks do great and Meryl Streep did a great job I'm 60yrs old and grew up in that era and I know that I grew up in the right era better than today's world.
Okay TH-cam AND 60 minutes , I'm confused🤔 You headline "the people behind The Post" (Along with Advertising The Post movie just below the Video). Which deals with the Pentagon Papers. And the Actual video is all about Watergate. Which, don't get me wrong, is Extremely interesting-Especially the Younger Shots of Woodward and Bernstein and the interviews with Bradlee and Graham.
The WP is unusual for being considered a natl paper even though it’s circulated regionally so when I lived in Richmond I made sure to take the opportunity to be a subscriber (but I refused to get that big Sunday ed.)
You couldnt pay me to watch this movie, as if I dont know what its REALLY about, and the leftist actors that play the parts, Im sick and tired of em....sick and tired of "60 Minutes" too, just more evidence that journalism really is dead...why would you take on OPRAH? That interview so biased, just as biased as your picks to be interviewed. SMH Im looking forward to see the bit on prisons, solitary confinement etc, but sick of the leftist politics, the biased leftist opinions etc which seems to own "60 Minutes"
Mila776...And I'm sick of biased right-wing opinions. BTW, what's biased about the interview? At least all of us on the left care about actual facts and truth, unlike those on the right. We don't call news that we don't like "fake." The right does.
Oh, God, that was bliss to watch. I work in what's left of print journalism. These people were the absolute gold standard for integrity in news.

"Do you think you're too close to the Kennedys?"
"Yes."
Journalistic integrity.
i realize I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know a good site to stream new series online?

There was a time when journalists worried about getting the story right, not about readership or poll numbers.
The time never stopped
There was a time when people didn’t rely on tired memes and either-or scenarios
Believe me they worried about readership, but to never compromise their journalistic integrity, of practice.

A time gone by. I miss great investigative journalism. RIP BB
Please remember to watch the Documentary "The Newspaperman: The Life and Times of Ben Bradlee" from HBO
This is absolutely a priceless piece. Fabulous!
Casting Jason Robards as Ben Bradlee was genius. ( the other masterpiece movie)
I'm 60yrs and grew up in the right era
The Post is About The Pentagon Papers before Watergate. Great Video. Thanks for Posting this.
My favorite scenes from All The President's Men was Bradlee sitting with all his editors talking about what stories the paper was going with.
The page budget meeting.
Damn, Meryl Streep got her dead right in the performance.
Shreyas Gune But was her face an exact replica?
I never would have survived the office environment of the 1970’s. Too much cigarette smoke.
The voice is uncannily accurate!
I miss Mike Wallace. We don't have reporters like him today.
Yeah, he was full of integrity….but his son sucks
Omg look at young Woodard and Bernstein... i love it!!!!
There was a hint of jim morrison in woodward.
Lol That power stance at 2:54 would never fly today.
😂 I saw another picture of him doing that and thought, that’s a nice stretch.
“When to cajole, and when to chew them out...” And when to stick their foot and balls on yer desk! 2:58
2:54 that's quite a manouver

the way Katherine speak and comparing it with Streep performance in The Post, I can say my god, she nailed it.

Who is here after seeing the movie ?
Me. Born in DC!
3
Does Tom Hanks ever smoke in this film? Tom plays Ben Bradley in the film who often smoked cigarettes.
Me
Yeah, the original one.
We need such journalists in India too. Presently we are dealing with spineless media.
After 3 years this comment is still relevant
Wow Bradlee was a fascinating guy!
Amazing piece by the late great Mike Wallace.
“I do not care who is president” I’m 25 and I’ve never heard those words from anybody in the press.
Whats with the Captain Morgan Stance?
the subject have been made into a movie before, All the President's Men, Starring; Robert Redford, Dustin Hoffman and Jason Robards.
Boy do we need Mike Wallace more than ever now !
Newspaper, radio, tv news.... The Good Old days. No intrernet.
Nixon resigned four days after this broadcast.
We all know what happened five days after this aired...
Wow they’re so young.
The last real journalist.

Both The Post and NYT are mere shells of their once prominent standings.
truth true
Cool.
All the President’s Men and The Post brought me here.
Privately owned newspapers were always the best source for facts. Now its corp. Awful
Hate to break it to you but both the post and nyt were both part of corporate entities
@@kevinbrown4073 No..
2:56 Alpha display 😂
can I translate this video into Arabic and republish it?
total inside baseball story they don't do any more
Ahhhh, the good old days. Before stooges & stenographers took over the US Corporate Media Disneyland of today
The WP is unusual for being considered a natl paper even though it’s circulated regionally so when I lived in Richmond I made sure to take the opportunity to be a subscriber (but I refused to get that big Sunday ed.)
'The Iron Butterfly'?
Lol the chain smoking days.
Bravely IRON'ed ..... Irony of TRUTH 👍 🆓 Press 👍
60 minutes picked the wrong guy to do this story. Wallace turned tail and ran away from tobacco lawyers to save profits.. His son is no better...
Ben Bradlee looks so unwell in this piece. Greasy hair, pale skin, chain-smoking. Ugh.
Whats more amazing is the story of Mary Pinchot Meyer, Ben Bradley's sister in law and former mistress of JFK. Read Peter Janey's Mary's Mosaic.
My how the mighty have fallen......"sell outs" everyone.....SMH.....
The only reason to see the post is the 128 a "pioneer of the small cars we drive today."
Meryl Streep, Ironically she couldn't see all of those women being molstead on a casting couch, Right in front of her.
Jack Long Were you there?

How to actually have fun with Mila776 at a party: have a drink every time she says “leftist” 🤣🤣🤣
