If you said on ds260 you are immigrating with him, yes you go to medical examination and interview both of you but after interview you leave him, go alone but make sure he joins you with six months before his visa expires - and this is the easiest way. If you said not immigrating with him, then you go alone but processing a visa for him later on will be a long process.
