Will have been helpful if you explained how you arrived at using the ip address you chose for the static ip address. What was the dhcp assigned ip address before it was changed to static. Why you went for the ip address you chose and what the host machine's ip address is.
its because when you change the IP address the remote connection with the machine which was pre configured got changed what you had to do is just to reconnect, virtual machine didn't shutdown
Beautiful explanation but where did you pull the IP address from? Show us how you got it please! Also show how to clear the red error "some settings are managed by your company or organization" Thank you.
My Local Routers IP address is 172.18.72.1/24. I am using 172.18.72.0/24 IP range in my local network. Please change the IP addressing as per your network range.
You can pick any IP address range from private IP address ranges. If you have internet connection and router with you, I suggest you to use the same IP address range, so you can have Internet connection in VM (if required). Private IP address range for Class C is 192.168.X.X. /24.
Dear sir I followed all your instructions perfectly with the only difference that I wanted a different static ip address than the one used in the video. The thing that I noticed is that in the video... The server was still connected to the internet via bridged adapter while mine was no longer connected to the internet... Can you help me understand why... 143.13.7.5, 255.255.255.0, 143.13.7.1 ; 143.13.7.5, 8.8.8.8 are the values I used...
In my home lab, I have place one router (internet is terminating on the router). The LAN network range on the router is 172.18.72.0/24. The IP address 172.18.72.1 is assign to the LAN interface of the router which is going to be the default gateway for the Local Network. Router is doing NATing so all the computers from the local network are connected with the Internet. You need to adjust the IP addressing as per your network settings. If you still have doubts you can mail me the details, I will help you out there.
On your physical machine, open run menu and type command ipconfig /all press enter key. Find the default gateway IP address that will be your default gateway for VM. Use bridge mode adapter type.
The IP address is from local network. In my home lab setup routers (gateway) address is 172.18.72.1/24 and with DHCP is configured as well with range 172.18.72.100 to 172.18.72.200. So according to that i have assigned IP address 172.18.72.5/24 to the server.
Yes, you can do that. As I want to use the same server for domain controller in the next video so I have assign the static IP. You can choose it as per your requirement.
After changing the ip address in my virtual machine, I lost internet access while in the video, you still have internet access. I dont understand how when I followed everything in the video
@@ashutoshverma90 another alternative just leave it as DHCP then go to cmd and find out the IP configuration then come back and put those configurations as static and don't forget to up DNS same as the IP it won't show again unidentified network
This is because your server IP needs to be in the same subnet as your router. As the user arktic suggested, switch back to receiving IP address automatically, then go to your cmd type in ipconfig/all, note down the IP, subnet mask and other related info then change to static and put those exact addresses down. It doesn't have to be the exact same host address, but make sure it's in the same network
@@oji-726 thank you for this. I searched for hours to get this fixed. Im really new to all this, and i could not find a explaination for "dummies". Yours helped a lot
When you install Windows server 2019, it asks to setup password for local administrator account. You can specify the password of your choice which later you can use to sign on the server.
You have to set up IP addressing according to your local network. The first thing to do is to check the IP address of your gateway or router.Assign an IP address from the same series as the gateway or router.
@@MSFTWebCast Thanks i've fixed that im now in dism command part, and im going to subscribe and continue , thank you for these entire series , are you a senior sys admin ?
U typed wrong subnet mask of these Ipv4 address these id is class B ip, in class B two octet for Network & two octet for host & then subnet become of these network 255.255.0.0
This doesn't have to be the case. Classful IP addressing is mostly outdated now, he's using classless inter domain routing (CIDR). By using a /24 subnet (255.255.255.0), he's using the first 3 octets as the network address and the last octet as host, regardless of whether it's 172 or not.
@Dr Moriarty is it that much hard? I dont think that will work. Any other suggestion how can I improve the accent issue?. Do I need to add english subtitle?
Love it! Why can't other tutorials be as easy to follow.

It seems you need basic knowledge of TCP/IP and IPv4 addressing before watching this series
Please explain how did you get those IP address to set as static in address. I’m sure that is based on your host computer in address.
I pick the IP address range for the lab. You can choose any private IP address range of your choice.
thank you very much for your all videos that are easily understandable
So nice of you
Great tutorial so far. I look forward to finishing it!

You can pick any IP address range from private IP address ranges. If you have internet connection and router with you, I suggest you to use the same IP address range, so you can have Internet connection in VM (if required). Private IP address range for Class C is 192.168.X.X. /24.

Which nic in VM you selected that it has internet with private ip
NIC type is bridge adapter mode. My router is providing private IP address to the server and on router NATing is configured.

Hi, how to create an email alert notification while the storage is beyond its threshold value?
You can use file server resource manager to do so.
Why are you using a Type B IP address with a Type C subnet mask? Doesn't make sense?
Its called subnetting.
great video well done.

why? WS19 is strictly made for hosting games or even a school or buisness
After running system updates and rebooting, I install 3rd party Security Software then continue with the rest of the tasks. (Better safe than sorry)
