Can confirm, I went there as a kid on a family road trip and I still remember it. Just watch out, because there are some decorative pools off to the side full of filthy algae covered water that, if _you're_ a ten year old child who's not paying attention, are really easy to mistake for patches of grass and fall directly into. That was one sticky, smelly car ride back to the hotel.

Truth, born and raised in Hickory Hill, whole family stay there and the surrounding area. Moved to Houston in 08 and never looked back. Moved back for a year in 2015 and felt like the biggest mistake I ever made in my life. Will visit any chance I get but it'll take a lot for me to ever stay there again.

I took my grandmother to Graceland a couple years ago. She's a big Elvis fan, and it was kind of a bucket list item for her. On the way to the airport, we checked out the MLK museum, and that was very humbling.

I lived in Memphis in the early to mid 90's and LOVED it. It breaks my HEART to see what it's become especially my old neighborhood which I'm told is now called Hickory HOOD (!). Memphis was the GREATEST city ever back then. A common debate was whether Memphis or Atlanta would become a bigger and better city ... Memphis coulda been bigger and better than what Atlanta is now. Breaks my heart.
Have you ever heard about people who walked outside of their all-inclusive hotels in Mexico and they got mugged or murdered? Beale St. is your "all-inclusive hotel" in Memphis... don't walk 50ft off the beaten path. Your life is legitimately at risk.
