Great Video. New to the Autel Evo and the Smart controller. I did want to say that I really like the smart controller even more by using it from a tripod. Super nice :)
Using a landing pad gives you a spot-on landing. The EVO 2 takes a photo from the bottom of the aircraft as it launches trying to match what it sees when it lands using RTH. Problem is, all concrete or asphalt looks the same when it comes down. So, it relies solely on the GPS coordinates to land. When I use my landing pad you can see it self-correcting itself as it descends, and I usually nail it within a few inches. I have yet to fly a mission, but I am certainly going to try after seeing your video. Well done.
Thanks - yes it can land within an inch of its take off position. Really accurate as long as the ground has features to grab woth the Time of Flight cameras. (TOF is a poor mans lidar, lol) When mine would rotate a few degrees off, a compass and TMU calibration would make it spot on again.
I love the idea of a smart controller instead of a phone. Did you have any connection issues with yours? I hear the Mini 3 might have one. If I could add a feature, it would be autorecord for us knuckleheads who keep forgetting!
Autorecord is one of the Litchi features I like. For Autel, it's "Auto Record STOP" after landing. I usually stop recording, but not 100%. There's ALWAYS distractions. I love when about 2 seconds after landing, you hear: "recording stopped" - brilliant feature. I wondered why DJI wouldn't copy this. I've learned that there's fierce competition between the two; even an Apple/Samsung style lawsuit on twist-lock propeller design, which AUTEL won as the innovator who patented the design. EDIT: whoops! I've had no connectivity issues on my Autel SC, or new RC Pro for Mavic 3
Going through comments and I agree, auto record is a great idea. especially in certain situations. How many times have we looked and thought, "thats beautiful. Its going to be sone great vid.. oh no!" Autel stops recording when you land, a feature everyone should have.
@@BlairAir I've been so disappointed that I forgot to hit record that I've gotten a lot better about it but, yeah, auto record or a little message that says "Did you want to record?" would be good.
Good Stuff thanks - I owned two Autel's and both had camera drift problems so I returned them. I hear there is a V1 and V2 of the transmitters - so are all the new Autel drones V2 now. Will the V2 transmitter work with all the newer drones on line for sale. Thanks
So, how do you get it to just record 1 video clip for the whole mission? It seems sometimes it starts and stops the videos at each waypoint so you get a bunch of video clips, rather than 1 continous video.... Thanks
Yep I had the same issue. Made me nuts trying to start on 1st waypoint, end on last and still no good. Answer was simplicity itself. Just set waypoints and POI, NO camera actions at all. Then after it lauches and heads to 1st waypoint: hit record (must be on camera screen to use on screen, duh, but you can use the left "record button" as well.
It's V2. Only real difference is that it's dual band 2.4/5.8 auto switching as with Occusync, and nearly the same range I get with Air 2 and Mavic 3. It's weak on file management (no caching) but the screen, and range have been as good or better than I expected!
I kinda of like it. Easier to see in the sky. The new Nano & Lite Autels come in 4 colors: White, grey, red orange (Nano) and 3: White, Grey, Orange (Lite)
I like the orange. If you have an unscheduled landing due to risking the battery time remaining and miscalculating, it is much easier to find an orange drone.
They do have other colors. You can get them in white or grey. For my uses I could see painting or dying the bottom white/grey/blue to blend into the sky and leave the top orange. That way it's camouflage while flying and easy to find after crashing
Thanks for fine video. I'am about to change from DJI to Autel. But have to say I dont like that pixel pic. you got on the controller even not on long distance. I now there was trees BUT looks bad. But the setup looks soo fine. Autel Smartcontroller to kill DJI Smartcontroller. Can you tell me do the Autel Smartcontroller and drone have "FIND MY DRONE" to see on screen og sound?
When did you get your drone and when did you get controller? There's v1 of drone and controller, but also a v2 of drone and controller....they aren't compatible with each other
DID you follow Autels instructions? If setting the drone to pair with the button under the right side cover, then chose the pairing I general menu on the Smart Controller you like have mismatched Firmware. Start by checking the Controller Firmware level, then grab that version, put it on the root of an sdcard, and install (monitor with the standard controller) then attemp to pair again. Bit of a pain, but it happens when you buy components separately. When Paired, grab the FW again and install while smart controller is connected.

Hello from Bucharest Romania 🇹🇩
Great Video. New to the Autel Evo and the Smart controller. I did want to say that I really like the smart controller even more by using it from a tripod. Super nice :)
My next purchase this is so cool. Looks like Autel did their home work.

Thank You!
You're welcome!
If Autel EVO Lite+ would work with the SC it would be a buy.
Agreed. Shame they keep changing the tech. Lite and Lite + are using different transmission signaling, so only Evo 2 series and Enterprise supported.

maybe zoom in and adjust your iso and F stop?

Sorry they were flops. Autel has hit or miss QC but does some stuff really well.

Is this the original smart controller or the v2?
It's V2. Only real difference is that it's dual band 2.4/5.8 auto switching as with Occusync, and nearly the same range I get with Air 2 and Mavic 3. It's weak on file management (no caching) but the screen, and range have been as good or better than I expected!
I like the bigger screen on the controller..Autel need to change the colour of their drone it looks like a flying brick

That's true! It stands out in the natural world! Bought a Lite+ recently and considered the new colors (white or gray) but stuck with Autel Orange!
They do have other colors. You can get them in white or grey.

@SilverStarHeggisist Find after crashing, that's classic 🤣
Autel is dumping on DJI. You can't even do waypoints on the Mavic 3 not to mention none of the intelligent controls are available until 3mos from now.
Thanks for fine video.

I just got my autel smart controller v2. I can't get it to bind with my autel evo 2 pro. Can you help.
When did you get your drone and when did you get controller? There's v1 of drone and controller, but also a v2 of drone and controller....they aren't compatible with each other

You can do the same thing with a tablet or a phone
Why do that though when this is all one piece.
