I think it's a difficult comparison. No doubt these videos are packed with useful knowledge. But your head coach has to worry about catering for 20 boxers, all of whom have different skill levels and capacity to learn. His priority is also more likely to be repetition of fundamentals, rather than teaching niche techniques which have rare utility. I say this as a coach, who constantly has to make difficult decisions about material for classes. Just because a coach doesn't teach a certain skill or move, doesn't mean he doesn't know how to teach it.
@@woohay tbf these arent niche techniques this is a Style mostly that soviet fighters use his coach teaches probbably a more american style isnt that his coach isnt teaching u know?
Soviet boxing is heavily focused on the footwork, and i love it, been training in Moscow under guidance of some serious trainers - it was amazing. Now i moved to EU and i really struggle to find a coach that is atleast half as good as those trainers in Russia :-(
Something I like to do while watching these videos is everything they show I do for 1 round each, that’s not my actual training routine but it’s something you can do to change it up a little bit and get a extra session in while studying 💯

Looking to get it out this week mate. Been a couple of delays due to competitions with my boxers and to be honest we had a couple of sunny days in Scotland which is rare so I made the most out of it 😂 hopefully get it out this week mate. Thanks for support 🥊
Another great video by Coach Mcleod! I been waiting for this. Coach, I am a heavy smoker, and lose breath after 1 min, is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks!
Yeah I and I run a gym and train boxers along with a family. An it’s summer lol so it’s been delayed. Hoping to have it out this week. I also said it 6 days ago so still within the week 😉
This is really good. But cant understand whats wrong, it looks like you throw punches before you move your feet, especially check hook, you lean your body inside and back after punch, we dont do this. Because you must be able to repeat your attack, in the way how you show it this is very difficult, hence its only defensive movement on backwards. In some variations of our school we stand on toes, not flat foot (hope I passed the sense) Anyway this is really good observation but not precise and it seems like you were not instructed by real coach from Eastern Europe, I guess. But dont get offensive, this is excellent work, probably the closest to real thing among what Ive seen.
Yeah we were instructed by a one star AIBA Moldovan coach. I know what the problem is though. We don’t fully train Soviet school. I have my own style which the boxer in this video has a blend of. He isn’t pure Russian school hense why you will probably see some differences. I know exactly what you are looking at though and you’re right in your observation.
I'm sorry but that check-hook example? I know this is just shadow boxing, but I feel like the point is to replicate the actual movements one would use in a real situation- and if so, that check hook is struggling.
I’ve learned more from this channel than the trainer in my gym
Yep, you also gotta realize the trainer at the gym is making sure you're prepared to not get seriously injured.
You should switch gyms then
I totally agree. Anybody can be a trainer sadly. You can tell a lot by the video, he is showing you step by step.

Was always curious as to the Soviet methods of training and fighting, so these videos are so amazing to me! Keep it up coach !
There's a channel called Russian school of boxing that has American voiceovers. They are really detailed.
No disrespect meant to this channel btw. The boxing community should be family anyway imo lol

1-2 hook - looks like Gennadij Golovkin sometime to do
I miss the old videos where you show them in actual situations and how it plays out (e.g. your Defending the 1-2 video)
Yeah and that’s something we can do but very time consuming and I’m trying to get more content out.
@@McLeodScott definitely understandable. Keep up the great work!

Just won a fight my coach wanted to take all the credit. But I told everyone thati learnt from this channel and not from him 😂
What do you think about a rear check hook without switching the stance?
Soviet Style I see Is Enhancing The Fundamentals and I See If you Use these tactics. You Will catch the Chin no matter Who Stands infront of you.
Phenomenal series of instruction
