Soviet boxing style was developed for and around olympic boxers, to help with point scoring. Long distance shots, distance maintaining etc. And thanks for the video, btw. Good quality and informative as always.

Loma is a good place to start with the fencing style lead arm he often uses - it stops you're lead arm being pinned and you can control and turn their arm to get a shot off
@@KingFalconFTW there are breakdown vids on here that got me to understand what he was doing, can't remember channels but ones where they slow down his fight footage rather than a coach showing you. Plus he goes over some of it himself in the footage where he's showing young fighters stuff in a London gym.
@@KingFalconFTW tbh you’re seeing an example of it in this video here. Loma uses his own variation of these moves as he’s a soviet boxer with his own special pendulum boxing style.
Soviet style is so good and efficient. Distance and timing. Just beautiful. Soviet style dominantes as well in the pro ring not just amateurs so many Cuban, Russian, and eastern European champions... Proof is in the pudding
A superb boxing video, yet again. I also loved your recent shadowboxing video with the tremendously talented Asian lad. The only thing that gave me pause with the previous video was that the lad's hands were not clenched at the end of the punch (for most of the time, at least). The boy in this video seems to have a nice clenched fist at the end of his punch. It would be very interesting to hear your views on which, if either, is appropriate. Obviously, having fully unclenched hands throughout saves the boxer energy in shadowboxing by keeping the hands loose. Helps with speed - the Asian boy is lightning fast. It's probably okay with gloves on, too, given the protection they afford. On the other hand (pun intended), shadowboxing with loose hands all the way to the full extension could be rather counterproductive training were, for instance, the fighter to end up in (God forbid and strongly discouraged) a street fight. A good way to get your hand broken. And I'm assuming that even with gloves on a full knuckle shot is more effective than a slap (Joe Calzaghe excepted, of course!). Anyhow, all thoughts welcome.
Gonna see some of these in the Usyk vs AJ bout next month. Can you do Orthodox vs Southpaw stuff to look out for, like Overhand Jab Counter and Toe To Outside Battle please?
Hey McLeod you got any tips on keeping the pendulum/ smooth footwork when throwing a 1-2? I find it easy to go in and out with a jab but find myself a little sloppy on the 1-2 thanks 💪🏻
You could have called this video just "soviet style" Instead of "left arm variation" I use this style too, not much space to throw rights that are loaded
Absolutely you gotta get comfortable with that lead hand like he is showing you here. That’s how you’re going to close that distance if your a shorter boxer also foot work like he’s demonstrating always moving and fainting and baiting. Hope that helps
Why do you rotate your left arm so much when throwing a jab ive noticed it in other soviet vids? Also thanks for showing multiple clips of the same shot it really helps me get a good understanding of the footwork.
Love your videos, would love to help you become the full time youtuber you want to be by helping you record some content, Email me would love to go from there!

Perfect for amateurs and for street fights to avoid close scramble and clothes pulling
Amateurs? Bivol
The best style against wrestler and keeping health.
@@alejandrosajardo8709In this case it is not saying that because you are an amateur you have to be worse, it is other requirements.
A good rear arm can take you around the block. A great lead arm can take you around the world.
💯
Dmitry Bivol has brought me here, I have Mexican but I find Soviet style fascinating.
Exceptional gestures, you can see the years of training
The best Soviet-style fighters only need one arm to win their fights 👌
So happy you’re back uploading hopefully it stays frequent for awhile amazing work as always
Thanks mate and I’ll do my best. I’ll definitely have frequent uploads until September then I’ll struggle again due to the boxing season.

Bivol has mastered most of these. The king of Soviet step. Bivol beats Beter easy. That parry jab will get the job done
Footwork. Footwork. Footwork will save him if he accomplish it 100%

Pls do a breakdown for Shakur Stevens and how to beat long defensive guards of him....🙏🙏

So, keep the lead arm moving all the time especially with feints and probes?
Keep the lead arm moving to set up patterns then break the patterns with the power hand.

Is this a good style for a southpaw? I'm 188 cm and have very good reach
