SPOILERIFIC JOKE AT AL'S AND FIONA'S EXPENSE Inquisitor: Hey Fiona, I left some guy called Alistair to die in the fade against a spider monster. Hawke's safe though. Fiona: O_O
Macder10 Ironically, I cant stand Hawke. While more down to earth in Inquisition, DA2 left too much of a bad impression for me to ever even consider choosing their dumb ass over a character I adore. I'd opt for Alistair every time unless it's Stroud, in which case, he gets ditched instead.
Blackemperess gotta low how every player can basically leave stroud without a sense of remorse X D. It would be heartbreaking for them to ever depart from one another but I think they're way more mentally stable and able to accept things like that than Hawke and Anders would be. Well, that's my thoughts on it anyways. :)
It's also sad because Fiona never intended for Alistair to be King. She wanted him to live a life free of politics. With her believing Maric as dead and now Alistair having the burden of being King, it must break her heart.
@@andrewvincent7299 the burden of royalty, the prejudice of being half-elf, the “Wardens aren’t Parent material”... This “some matters are too important for someone like me” Alistair inherited from her. He used to think the burden of leadership was something too big for him and passed to someone “more worthy of doing the right thing” just like she did with parenting him, being a warden, mage, elf and mother to a royal bastard, she had that same insecurity and so believed he would be better being just a regular orphan.
I soo totally love Alistair's new design. When he showed up in game, I was like, is that... could it be... no way...??? I still think it's kind of bull that after this Alistair asks for all these favors on the war table and you STILL don't get to even talk to him. This isn't even a conversation it's just Alistair yelling at Fiona / rebel mages to leave. Hell, Hawke got to talk to him longer in DA2 in EVERY scenario longer than this. You get to talk to him if he becomes a Grey Warden but the price to pay with that is steep. It would be nice to hear him reminiscing about the Hero of Ferelden or talking about his love. Idk it just feels stupid that if you choose any of the male love interests you don't get to hear them talking about their relationships. Hell, Zevran isn't even in the game. Only Grey Warden Alistair will give any juicy deets and like I said before, that's a big nope. The Hero of Ferelden's note helped a bit but.... sigh.
Cullen is younger than Alistair by 3 -4 years,Alistair would be 31-32 Cullen would be 28-29 because when Cullen came to the circle in fereldan he was 18-19 and think about the stress Alistairs been through xD I Personally think Cullen looks older in D.A.I.
He's still a warden, so he's hearing the calling, which makes all wardens grumpy AF. Not to mention they kicked out his adoptive uncle and gave the most important arling in Ferelden to a Tevinter magister. I think Alistair has the right to be a bit annoyed at that point, don't you think? :D
Mystical Potato Queen give him time, the letter you can receive from him is soooo Alistair, to the point where when you read it, you can hear his voice in your friggin head
anakon4 the first enchanter fiona is a former Grey warden, she somehow cured herself of her blood and then had an affair with maric, giving birth to Alistair, making him half elf.
demonangel918 funny thing in the comics Alistair finds out marics alive while traveling with varric and Isabela, teaming up with sten from origins (who is now arishok) after beating him in a one on one duel and finding one of the other witches of the wilds
I've been looking for this! Too bad they make no mention of Queen Cousland. Morrigan mentions the warden's whereabouts if she was romanced.... feeling a little jealous that I have no idea what's happened to my warden.
They did. Talk to Lelliana. My Female Warden became queen with maxed friendship ( not romance) with Lelliana and she said she lost contact with the Hero Of Ferelden. I think it's about 1hour into the game when u talk to her outside of the Chantry in Haven beside the Quartermasters.
Arthur Wellesley hmmmm well I can't play the game so I'm stuck watching videos of other people playing the game, but I meant more than "we lost touch" I think it's rather strange that a Queen goes missing and no one mentions anything about it (or at least from what I've seen)
Ellie I think she goes missing because she went to the deep roads. it had been more than 10 years since the fifth blight and blight wardens succumb to the taint faster if im not wrong
Justin Barrett I was talking specifically about this video. In Fluffy's world state the warden is queen cousland. Arthur Wellesley If you watch the video where the inquisitor talks to Morrigan about the warden, and the warden was in a relationship with her she'll mention that he's off trying to find a cure for the calling so I imagine that the female warden would be doing something similar.
I guess Varric is doing a Anders reference when he said: They can be loyal friends if you let them. Friends who make bad decisions. But still loyal. :p
I love the way Alistair softened and stated that he wanted to help the mages all along. Especially the way he said it - "I wanted to help you" -- YOU -- Gawd ;A;
He’s so much more himself here without Anora. A good, strong leader that is unwilling to compromise with people who betrayed his trust, but so much less harsh than the cameo with Anora
Yea anora definitely poisons him. Honestly she's a terrible person, her only concern is power and control and it shows how she treats the hero of ferelden even willing to betray him multiple times, and how just being around her alistair becomes so much more bitter. it's funny cuz cailan was a jolly guy likely because he spent most of his time away from the castle.
Why does it seem like everyone just kind of glosses over the fact that Fiona made a really stupid decision, no matter how desperate it might have been? I can’t think of a single reason why anyone would think that the mages throwing themselves in with the Tevinter Imperium would be a good idea.
Snarby Its how Bioware is now I suppose, they've gotten so lazy with the character designs because they like to think that we'll be too focused on the plot to care about our characters
Weighing in on the general discussion: He's also probably recalling another certain act of betrayal that has him a bit less likely to be receptive to working with Fiona. And, remember, too, that she's an elf. He likely wouldn't even consider the possibility that she's his mother just because he has no reason to believe he's a half elf at all. To my knowledge, all the people that knew are dead with possibly the exception of Teagann.
Did he show up in your playthrough? That is kind of interesting - didn't know Loghain was in the game at all. Though Alistair does not remain a warden if you spare Loghain. He will either leave the order (and become a drunk), claim the throne, or be executed. ;) As for what happens if Alistair is a Warden - Anora shows up.
Fiona looks so heartbroken. She never saw Alistair all these years, never spoke to him, but you can see that she loves him nonetheless. And it really, really pains her to hear how her son speaks to her.
This is even more sad if your warden is a Mage I imagine Alistair offered shelter for the mages because he thought about the warden, especially if they are in a romance. Also one of the boons in origins, the warden can ask for the mages to have more freedom. In a way the mages squandered this gift the hero of fereldan gave them :(
On a less serious note that most of these comments - Still can't quite grasp why Alistair looks so hot in this scene and true to his original design in Origins, but so weird when he's the Warden. My guess is that the lighting plays a big part in that. Here, in the darkened room, he has a complexion matching his original design. However, as a Warden seen in plain sight, he's weirdly pale and has ginger hair. In general, you can then see more clearly that most of his features are not Alistair-y. And yes, I know that they tried to make him look more realistic, but still, Warden Alistair doesn't work for me. But hey it's probably just the fact that I love his character so much, that any differences are a break of immersiveness for me 🤷♀️
Haha you know whats funny? I just thought that technically, Fiona, who is an elf, has the title of "Queen Mother of Ferelden". I'm sure a lot of human nobles would get a kick outta that lol
I really don't like how Alistair looks in this game. They got it right in DA:O. Should a stuck with it. Cullen on the other hand just kept getting better looking.
I think one of the reasons why King Alistair makes no mention of the Hero of Ferelden in Inquisition (Especially if the HoF is Queen/in a romance with King Alistair), is because the player doesn't get a chance to interact with King Alistair and ask him about the HoF if he is King. I believe that the story goes the same as if it's Warden Alistair- that the HoF and his love have gone off to seek a cure for the Calling, regardless of whether she is queen or not, and that his feelings for her is just the same as the Warden Alistair scenario. It's just that Warden Alistair is accessible to the player in Inquisition so they get to talk and he gets to tell them about her. It's referenced in the Codex entry in Inquisition: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Codex_entry:_A_Letter_from_the_Hero_of_Ferelden Also, Alistair IS King of Ferelden in Bioware canon.
When Fiona lowers her head at the end, my heart breaks. Ouch, Alistair. If only you knew the pain you caused your mom (although she kind of deserved it).
Fiona's fatal flaw strikes again and now it comes with a price of losing Alistair's good graces. Tragic. And I don't understand why the Alistair hate at his treatment at Fiona. As far as I know, Alistair is yet to know his true relations with Fiona and he's nothing but reasonable at this point of having his country being a refuge for the mages until Fiona abuses it. He has every right to get angry.
Is this really Alistair's only appearance? I almost missed it when I was playing the game. There was no power behind it, no Alistair humour, nothing. I was so disappointed. He's the bloody King of Ferelden (in a large number of people's games, that is.) and needed more than just "oh, let's kick out Fiona now." and she's meant to be his mother, right? No build up to it, nothing. I'm so royally pissed right now.
Alistair was was nicer than I would have been in his shoes. He finally gets a foothold in giving mages out of their life of oppression in the circle, just for them to stab him in the back and trust some insane jackass who takes over his family's land.

Her wish for Alistair actually came true, raised by dogs and playing around Redcliff until he’s all covered in mud (like his dad) without a trouble caused by royal or elven blood until he was 10 and the Arlessa screwed everything. Thanks Uncle Duncan for interfering later on.
SPOILERIFIC JOKE AT AL'S AND FIONA'S EXPENSE
Inquisitor: Hey Fiona, I left some guy called Alistair to die in the fade against a spider monster. Hawke's safe though.
Fiona: O_O
They should have made a scene where fiona fireblasts you through the wall if you made that choice.
Macder10
Ironically, I cant stand Hawke.
I know DA2 wasn;t nearly as good as DAO. but hawke was a good character i invested several hours in his personality. im not going to make an iconical MC dissapear. would only ditch hawke if it was hero of ferelden vs hawke.
Macder10 I could NEVER abandon Hawke... I have him and Anders romanced and holy shit that relationship is such a hot mess the pair of them need to stay alive and help each other.
He's just been through so much shit in his life. In terms of Alistar, I have him with my Warden as King and Queen. It would be heartbreaking for them to ever depart from one another but I think they're way more mentally stable and able to accept things like that than Hawke and Anders would be. Well, that's my thoughts on it anyways. :)
missbexiee but what if u had to choose between hero of ferelden vs hawke?
Am I the only who is actually okay with the way they made Alistair look? lol
And no Anora bitch on his side.
Good on you.
OMG I thought I was the only one thinking THAT!!! XD
1:57 uuuuuuuuuuuugh knowing fiona is alistair's mother, and she loves him dearly and just seeing him exile her like that... breaks my heart
THIS!
I'm still playing hoping to hear the "swooping is bad" quote somewhere in the game...
Varric says it in an idle dialogue to Sera I believe when you're out in the world: "Don't you know? Swooping is bad!"
In Inquisition? I don't think he says it. He does say it in Origins and in DA2, though 🤣
I soo totally love Alistair's new design. When he showed up in game, I was like, is that... could it be... no way...??? (Didn't recognize him at first) Then Fiona said King Alistair and I squeeled lol. Took me a while to get used to it. I even reloaded a previous save and redid the battle with Alexius so that I could see Alistair again lol. Damn, he got even sexier, didn't think it was possible. The years have been kind. :3 o3o Wish I could say the same about Anora and Loghain. Especially Anora, she's only like 38 but looks ancient like 60 LOL :P
Wait, wait, wait. Fiona is Alistair's mother? I think I need to do a little more reading when I pick up papers in Inquisition.
You mean the fucking novels?
peoplemcnuggetz
the novels? Oh that.
Nancy Lo haha yea, they're really long.
I thought Alistair said his mom was dead in Origins
That was a lie Eamon told him. Bad enough the heir to the throne is a bastard but if he was elf-blooded people would never stand for it.
The Hero of Ferelden's note helped a bit but.... sigh.
I don't know if Alistair is slowly turning into Cullen or if it is the other way around....
as long as he don't turn into Samson
Cullen was a douche bag in origins. He really really mellowed out in inquisition
I can hear Morrigan's voice saying: Nice, he just banned his mother
i don't know how I feel about Alistair, he definitely looks older
It's 10 years after the blight, He certainly isn't 21-22 anymore
Cullen is younger than Alistair by 3 -4 years,Alistair would be 31-32 Cullen would be 28-29 because when Cullen came to the circle in fereldan he was 18-19 and think about the stress Alistairs been through xD I Personally think Cullen looks older in D.A.I.
Yeah they should have and Maybe Cullen did during his time in fereldan and thats why he actually looked pretty damn good looking in part 2 xD
I would have been playing since yesterday but sadly i Couldn't pick it up. Can't wait to play!
First romance will be Cullen xD ive been waiting for 4 years to have that option
What happened to my funny, witty one liner Alistair?! He's.. He's changed so much 😣 (im actually sat playin origins right now xD)
Hey, ten years of leadership can change a guy. But, in his correspondence with the Inquisition, he's still the witty nice guy he always was. :D
Mystical Potato Queen You think that's sad? Let's talk about Anders...
He's still a warden, so he's hearing the calling, which makes all wardens grumpy AF
If only alistair knew that elf was his real mother
+chris koloski What?
anakon4 the first enchanter fiona is a former Grey warden, she somehow cured herself of her blood and then had an affair with maric, giving birth to Alistair, making him half elf.
+chris koloski The pain, the pain of knowing it afterwards, then re-seeing this scene. The pain in her face hurts me.
demonangel918 funny thing in the comics Alistair finds out marics alive while traveling with varric and Isabela, teaming up with sten from origins (who is now arishok) after beating him in a one on one duel and finding one of the other witches of the wilds
chris koloski
Don't toy with my emotions. Maric is alive?!?! But...how...wat.
I need to sit down.
Ellie I think she goes missing because she went to the deep roads. it had been more than 10 years since the fifth blight and blight wardens succumb to the taint faster if im not wrong
not everyone had queen cousland, it depends on what you import
Justin Barrett I was talking specifically about this video. In Fluffy's world state the warden is queen cousland.
Arthur Wellesley If you watch the video where the inquisitor talks to Morrigan about the warden, and the warden was in a relationship with her she'll mention that he's off trying to find a cure for the calling so I imagine that the female warden would be doing something similar.
I guess Varric is doing a Anders reference when he said: They can be loyal friends if you let them. Friends who make bad decisions. But still loyal. :p
Maah Redondo I would say more Merril. I executed Anders and Varric still said that.
@@EmoBearRights went full terrorist is way beyond “bad decision”, clearly he was talking about Daisy.
I love the way Alistair softened and stated that he wanted to help the mages all along. Especially the way he said it - "I wanted to help you" -- YOU --
Gawd ;A;
He’s so much more himself here without Anora.
I wonder if he still has her Amulet
He probably gave it to some random guy in random city, or whatever. That's what he used to do.
He still keep it since Arl Emmon. Glue them together
I've just finished to read The Calling.
This cutscene has changed so much for me in so little time
Why does it seem like everyone just kind of glosses over the fact that Fiona made a really stupid decision, no matter how desperate it might have been? I can’t think of a single reason why anyone would think that the mages throwing themselves in with the Tevinter Imperium would be a good idea.
Now now Alistair that's no way to talk to your mommy ;) xD i wish I could reunite them in the game hopefully in the next game
Origins is still the best in the series imo so always nice to see those characters return. They need to bring back Sten and Ohgren already as well.
Alistair kinda lost his cuteness over the years
i mean, it had been 10 years. and he doesnt look asian to me. and i oop-
did everyone but me know Fiona was his mother?
Your Inquisitor is gorgeous.
Laylah Pressley Thank you ^^
……..……….......….…….
I actually think he looks really handsome in this game. Kinda shiny but handsome. Wish we got to see more of him though
He's such a fun character, I just wish we got to see him more in Inquisition. He makes me laugh so much, and his mutual hatred with Morrigan.
Something that occurred to me, Alistair would have been hearing the calling. That entire situation would have been possibly quite stressful for him
*mages go to haven* "one way or another, you're leaving my kingdom" oh alistair.... some things never change
Will Alistair's face ever be fixed again?
Sadly no....
Could it be copyright issues? or is it the way Bioware intends it to be?
Snarby Its how Bioware is now I suppose, they've gotten so lazy with the character designs because they like to think that we'll be too focused on the plot to care about our characters
@@hufflepuffler2575 Cullen has been given a good makeover though. They made him handsome af.
ALISTAIR!!!!! I'm so hooked on your videos right now!
Glad I made him king in Origins. He is the right choice after all.
FINALLY SOMEONE ON HERE ALLIES WITH THEM INSTEAD OF IMPRISONNG THEM!
Jennifer lol i picked to have them as allies 2, i can never make mean choices in games😖
i know the games are worlds apart but couldnt they have tried harder to make alistair look like his origin self?
I would kick Alistair in the ass for talking to his mother like that....of course he doesn't know who Fiona is,but still....
by the look on Fiona's face I think she knows whom he is look how startled she is
lol I just noticed a typo in my comment FACEPALM
Geri2033
fixed.
What ? i dont remember much of DAO but wasnt his mother human and DEAD ? or you mean step mother ? if this is his mother he would be a hybrid
no,his mother isn't human. it has been confirmed that Fiona is his mother
Hmm... I wonder if that means we won't see Alistair at all if we had the ending where he remained a grey warden with our Warden? :(
You see him alright, but you wont like the outcome of that choice.
Legend of Phoenix yeah talk about a tough choice, probably the hardest in the game for me
luke baker I sat staring at the screen for the longest time with that one. I swear I felt my heart break after I finally decided. :\
If Alistair remained Warden/died, I think Logaihn showed up.
Did he show up in your playthrough? That is kind of interesting - didn't know Loghain was in the game at all.
Though Alistair does not remain a warden if you spare Loghain. He will either leave the order (and become a drunk), claim the throne, or be executed. ;)
As for what happens if Alistair is a Warden - Anora shows up.
Alistar looks different mainly because it has been 10 years since the blight ended.
Wow, Alistair actually looks good! A bit older, but that's to be expected.
knowing that fiona is his mother and this is one of their only interactions we see between them is sad :(
He should have said "I cannot let a group of Free Mages swoop into one of my holds..."
“Yes. Swooping is bad.”
I'd take that offer if I were you...one way or another you're leaving my kingdom.
King Alistair got that ice water running in his viens. Love it! 💪
The dark circles under his eyes are what make him look a bit older. Other than that, he looks so much better than I actually expected.
Fiona looks so heartbroken. She never saw Alistair all these years, never spoke to him, but you can see that she loves him nonetheless. And it really, really pains her to hear how her son speaks to her.
It was Cruel, to find out that Alistar has not the Same Voice ( In German). I just stood there like...'' Who are you and where is the real alistar''
Alistair - the standing example of an HD remaster gone wrong.
Only 2 minutes of him? Come on bioware.
damn Alistair grew a backbone
cant say i blame him id be pissed off too
d flynn
more now than in Origins and yeah im suprised he did not execute those mages everyone in Ferelden must be wanting there blood by now
Talizorah'vas' 'Normandy' cant he just take it back he has a army
Of course he needs a backbone, his wife killed the Archdemon after all
Is that his only cameo if you make him king?
No, if he stays a warden, hes there too and helps you in the fight against the warden mages
This is even more sad if your warden is a Mage I imagine Alistair offered shelter for the mages because he thought about the warden, especially if they are in a romance. Also one of the boons in origins, the warden can ask for the mages to have more freedom. In a way the mages squandered this gift the hero of fereldan gave them :(
I keep throwing my money at the screen but I still don't have it yet. What am I doing wrong?
Supporting the moneygrubbing corrupted game developer who uses PC damaging DRM
I look ravishing in 1080p.
I really don't like how Alistair looks in this game. They got it right in DA:O. Should a stuck with it. Cullen on the other hand just kept getting better looking.
I was happy to see Alistair. Only to learn I wouldn't because I saved the Templars.
Awww where's cousland?😣
You read "the calling" and suddenly this breaks your heart. It also seems like the most canon way to do things xp for what that matters
It's referenced in the Codex entry in Inquisition: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Codex_entry:_A_Letter_from_the_Hero_of_Ferelden
Also, Alistair IS King of Ferelden in Bioware canon.
wonder how long it will take Alistair to realize Skyhold is still in Ferelden
He doesn't sound like a king, he sounds like a health food store clerk.
Yes, swooping is bad.
Why don't the King's Guard have weapons?
When Fiona lowers her head at the end, my heart breaks. Ouch, Alistair. If only you knew the pain you caused your mom (although she kind of deserved it).
FYI, Alistair is wearing the same armor he wore in the Dragon Age Comic book series where he teams up with Varric and Isabella to find his dad.
My warden was a rogue Cousland and married with a hardened king Alistair. I love Alistair
What would we romance lovers ever do without you fluffy? :)
SWOOPING IS BAD.
Didn't think Alistair rocked his own personal royal bodyguard of dread. He seemed like such a happy king DA2
And to think, he doesn't know its his mom.
My brother romanced the shit out of alistair in origins so all I can think is how alistairs queen is his character 😂😂😂
"Steady course to the Haven, Hew many foe-men"
Is this really Alistair's only appearance?
I didn't know that was his mom until reading the comments. Wowzers
Bunch of people saying they'd have imprisoned or killed them if they were in his shoes until you find out that Grand Enchanter Fiona is Alistair's mother.
It's so stupid that if you made Alistair king, you only get to see him if you side with the stupid mages. Bad decision by Bioware.
Alistair was always a bit naive, and so are supporters of 'mage freedom'. So no, it does make perfect sense.
NoU
Why are the kings guards unarmed?
i played inquisition before playing origins so i didn’t know who alistair was and i didn’t care. now watching this i’m so proud of him 🥺 also i don’t think he looks ugly...he’s older and that’s the way he aged but i do think he should be taller
This isn’t Alistair, they look like completely different people. Age doesn’t change you that much.
At least DA2 got him looking familiar, even if he looked ugly.
Sick everyday knowing one of his only interactions with his mom is yelling at her, he would never if he knew 😭😭😭😭😭
she deserves it for abandoning him tbh
WHAT HAPPENED TO ALISTAIR WHERES THE CUTE HAIR IT IS MISSING
*sees alistair's improved quality* *screams until my brain melts*
I JUST WANNA SEE KING ALISTAIR AND MY QUEEN WARDEN HAPPY AND IN LOVE TOGETHER
Fereldan army marches in without any weapons
