SOMA and Observer are criminally underrated sci-fi horror! I've beaten Observer a few times, original and redux, and it really does cyberpunk body horror VERY well. I tried to play Visage a few years ago, but some of the gameplay was pretty frustrating so I never finished it. That game scared me probably more than anything else I've ever played though. Nice to see a shout out to Signalis as well. That and SOMA are two of my all time favorite game stories.
Signalis and Soma are two games that almost feel like they shouldn’t exist. Both are the perfect crystallisation of their particular ideas and tropes. This is what makes indie horror so fantastic.
Great video, OP. I'm not familiar with your channel so I was expecting a run of the mill list with only the obvious picks like silent hill, amnesia, RE7, but I'm really impressed. Congrats!
Oh ACG is one of the best video game reviewers there is. Very competitive, hardly a big game goes by without ACG handling it. And his scripts are witty. That said, congrats. You’ll find yourself coming back more Oh snd hes got a video game Podcast too
I just finished playing Vampire masquerade: Bloodlines and that was awesome for October, now I have been playing Darkwood the past few days. Great game as well.

Didn't help I had a glitch I thought was just part of the game where a deer was just frozen in a store and never moved but It was still making sounds.😂 I got the hell out of there like I was at a Pdidy party.
Been watching ACG videos for what feels like close to a decade now and I'm still smiling when I hit as much as I did back then! Halloween's my favorite holiday and although I've already went through a lot of these games in the past, it was great to re-visit them in this video
I love that you called out Evil Within versus its sequel. Everyone always champions 2 over 1 but for me the first was the best. In fact if you want to play any silent hill or RE game and couldn't decide which, EW scratches that itch for all of them in one
A horror game I would recommend is The Last Door series. It is a fairly simple 8 bit point and click game that started as a free flash game back in the early 2010s that was so good people ended up paying for the later entries. The story is incredible and it is amazing that something with Commodore 64 graphics could be so legitimately scary.
I just wish they had balanced the morality system a bit better. This happens a lot in these sorts of games where the fundamental morality isn’t really explained and yet is so punishing for completionists on a time budget.

As someone whose favorite Genre is Horror games, I gotta say this is a solid list with a lot of deep cuts. While mostly I'm sick of the Remakes and remasters that the games industry is all about, The exception to that is the Horror game remakes, SH2 was awesome, The RE remakes, Dead Space remake, and System shock have all been fantastic, I would love to see Condemned get that treatment, as well as some other Capcom Horror from PS2 era, and of course I want The Suffering, and Undying to get the remake treatment. Phasmophobia set off that Ghost hunting sub genre that there are a ton of on steam now, and in my opinion for as good as Phasmophobia is, there are games in the genre that do it better. Thanks ACG for the Video I always like seeing horror get more love.

Condemned was probably one of the first true horror games I played, and it still holds up today. The sound design was phenomenal. Great list, gonna give Madison a try and RDR (somehow I missed out on the Undead DLC or thought it a storyless Horde-Shooter at the time). Best titles of the list to me are Alien Isolation (for recreating the full-on survival-horror of the 1st Alien movie and its immersion while still looking appealing in 2024) and the Dead Space Remake which I consider the paragon of what a remake should look like: true to the original, removing annoying parts, adding and improving some game elements, modern graphics and good performance (SH2 could have used some of that spice). Honorable mentions: Costume Quest 1&2 not exactly scary, but both in the spirit of Halloween, if you want a comic relief in between all these horror titles Indika - won't get weirder than that game
