i studied with Ted Howe, & found that style of playing with the majority of notes in the right hand to be pretty muddy as a sound, and moved on to someone who plays in a much cleaner style, with the majority of the notes in the left hand. but now watching you , I am much conflicted about which styles to pursue. What are your thoughts on these 2 different styles of playing jazz piano. thx. Gloria Brinkworth -- gg@msgogo.com
Jazx Piano playing by Mr Winston is as usual excellent so nice to listen to, the nuance of chords which he prefers to play is so well explained BTW Mr Tony Winston your singing voice sir is warm soothing very relaxing very nice to listen to, i also listen to every word that you say, your opinion are very enlightening, very helpful, very interesting like from your other tutorias from which i learn so. much to play better jazz piano Thank u so much sir for this tutorial!
The music that has always connected people today is affected just like the people who deal with it, with an instant lock on everything that is truly beautiful. The pearl in the ocean is this man. Thank you, Mr. Tony
Mr Tony Ilistening to you sing while you play the piano is tops, really excellent voice and the piano playing is just as marvelous, no kidding sir makes me wish you come out with an album, but it's a tutorial and like all your tutorials as usual I learn a lot from not only from your every comments, remarksi opinions, ideas. Excellent piano playing, thank u Mr Tony for being such a great teacher!
23:00 of pure gold. Super-tasty playing (and singing!), and clear, advanced-level explanations. Really inspiring, and you make it seem accessible. Since you solicited requests, how about a George Shearing style arrangement of "Strangers in the Night"?
Can we use a digital piano and use the C key to demo this ( transpose the tone to Eb so that your voice can sing along) Thank you! It is easier to follow in the key of C. Thanks again!
Amazing as always!!! Thx for the Tutorial!! Now I have a lot of material to work!! It would be great if you could list the song called "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" for future tutorials Thx again Sensei!!
Very nice. Thank you. The only thing I might ask is to explain the difference between what works theoretically and what sounds good. That is: How songs sound better in some keys than in others.
I'm lazy in that I rarely work out what I'm going to play. So I end up playing chords that have the melody as the top note. I try not to but it happens too often. The melody is what I hear in my head when I'm singing and its hard to avoid playing a chord that has the melody note on top. There are son tricks tho...
You're a great teacher, a great pianist and a great singer, Tony.

Nice...like all the variations and playing in different keys. Do you just comp when you sing along? I wonder what key Chet Baker sang it in...F?
