I’ve loved your Aussie videos (love all the others too but as an Aussie from Perth it’s so cool to see it from your view). I just wanted to say Thankyou for the lovely content. I’ve been recovering from breast cancer treatment this year and watched a lot of TH-cam and your channel has brought such joy ❤
I’m going to be so sad when your trip is over. I can’t wait for you guys to come back and travel to more Australian places. You guys are the most interesting travelers on TH-cam. 😊
Despite your disappointment in not reaching Broome, you have certainly made up for it with your detours that were well worth it and spectacular. The cockatoos flying over the silos was so iconic❤.
Another fun filled, joyous video. I am going to be so sad when you finish this journey. Seeing our country via your trip, has been so fantastic. I still want to adopt you both. Safe travels.
Back in 1977 when I was 18 we were travelling around Australia and were between Coober Pedy and Alice Springs in the middle of "Whoop Whoop" and here were to young blonde haired Austrian girls hitch hiking, we were in a Falcon Ute and they jumped in the back for around a 100 klm to a crossroad to I can't remember where and there was a small settlement where they got out and we continued our journey to the Alice, We could not believe it that these two girls would be that daring to travel in such a remote area where there is nothing but desert and lots of flies, did I mention LOTS of FLIES!!!!
Another very entertaining video. The reason you don't fly drones in Coober Pedy is because of the opal mines. Miners are justifiably paranoid about people looking around their claim due to Ratters (ratters are people who sneak into a mine to steal opal)
They're sometimes needed though when people fall down abandoned mine shafts. They used them to find someone who went missing at grawin near lightning ridge once.
That's not true, miners (and any other individual) have no say in airspace restrictions. All of Coober Pedy is restricted because of the airport and once you get out of town you cross over into R246 (the Woomera restricted airspace)

The Legend of the Billy Brownless Silo Kick: AFL Geelong forward Billy Brownless was on his way to a wedding in West Wyalong with a few mates in the late ‘80s. It was a stinking hot day, so the lads dropped into the Royal Hotel to freshen up. Brownless asked why the footy was behind the bar. The explanation prompted him to shrug off the effects of afternoon beers and, in his bare feet, boot the ball over the hulking cylinders. The celebrations forced he and his fellow wedding guests to miss the ceremony and a good part of the reception. The presence of Brownless was central to the event's initial success. Today , the Mirrool Annual Silo Kick Challenge is now held annually in October with $1,000.00 prize money. Yay Billy!! 👏
Love Tia's Big Ant reaction, like a kid on Christmas morning!, nice one Cheveyo, oh and the boo in the mine 😆. Coober Pedy really is unique and that was a very pretty necklace as well, what a beautiful memory that will be when you hold it 50 years from now, Cheveyo will be bald by then! 😂. Love from South Oz.
G’Day Guys, I have been binging your Videos with nostalgia. Back in 1974 My wife and I started from Perth and had an adventure of a lifetime. The Nullabore was dirt road. We stopped at that abandoned roadhouse you two went into The population was written on a bit of cardboard 3. It was just after floods. We stopped in Hervey Bay QLD to get married where she grew up. We slept in our Station Waggon. What a trip. 50 years we’ve been together. Sadly I lost my girl last week. Our journey together has ended, I wish you two a long and happy life. Thanks for the memories.
Nearly 5 months in Australia and with the trip drawing to a close, it's fair to say we are happy to adopt you both now. Consider yourselves honorary Aussies 🇦🇺
Went through Coober Pedy in 1984. Stopped at the pub which was full of wild looking people with spiky hair and chains, etc. Thought "what a rough place" Then barman told us they were all extras on "Thunderdome" and that if we'd been an hour earlier we could have met Tina Turner!
I have lived in SA all my life (nearly 60 years) and have probably seen less than a quarter of Australia. Thanks to you both, I am seeing lots more through your videos. Will be sad to see you leave Aus.
Tia is such a lovely gal, so sweet, and is the prettiest, and cheveyo is a really solid guy and such supportive partner. These guys got me loving theyre channel
The super pit at Kalgoorlie would be worth a look too, if you are going that way. Also, you’ve been through Katherine twice but didn’t do the gorge??? Katherine gorge is the most spectacular part of Australia, imo
😂😂😂🖒🖒🖒🐜🐜🐜. Great trip! Blueberry is a trooper. She makes driving Australia look easy. Lovely necklace Tia! I like opals a lot but I LOVE boulder opals. Rocks with Opal in it is irresistible to me! Canberra had an awesome mined jewellery shop in Civic. It only recently closed due to the Owner, Peter, retiring. Peter did the mining too. It was always one of the shops I went to in Civic and where I first saw a boulder Opal. Such treasures there! Thank you for sharing your travels!
Ah, one day you must find a pair of sulphur crested cockatoos to watch. They are natural clowns and love twirling around on power lines, crests up, screeching at everything around them. Heaps of fun. I wish you could include more of our incredible range of birds during your trip.
Great vlog you guys . I think after the Nullarbor you should head Kalgoorlie way instead of Esperance way on the way back to Perth , plenty of new stuff to see in that direction . Happy travels :-)
LOL, another great video guys! Well done! I guess it's a little sad that you have to go back via the southern route and miss the west coast. But on the bright side, you did get to do Copper Pedi. If I may offer some beginner driving advice, Always reverse with a window down. That way, if somebody is yelling and screaming, "Stop Stop, go forward!", You can hear them, and you don't continue to run over the child you couldn't see run behind you or other calamity awaiting your rear end! Even today, after 40 years of driving, I still reverse my window down just in case. It has save me a couple of times, even though people think I'm a good driver compared to most. Enjoy the 90mile straight again. P.S. Thanks for showing the silo art this time 'round.
Cheveyo you earned a lot of browny points buying that opal. Next stop the rock shop in Coolgardie. Should old Vern still be prospecting you may even pick up a beautiful piece of gold in black quartz. So much more to see. You'll love Kalgoorlie and it's history.
We used to go gold and opal prospecting for holidays as kids.. White Cliffs was where we went for opal, its the same white/crystal opal as Coober Pedy. (black opal, white opal, crystal opal, jelly opal, fire opal, hyalite, water opal, hydrophane and honey opal) We found a lot of bits on the "mullock heaps" as kids.. some really nice bits.. (mullock heaps are the dirt buildup around a mine) There are estimated to be well over 1 MILLION holes out there.. its actually quite dangerous and a big snake area too, so you have to be a bit careful.. I hand polished 2 stones (after 60 YEARS in a bottle) and we got them put into a necklace for our Mums 80th birthday.. Opal mining is cool, there are still people making money from it. And more than one fortune has been made while digging an underground home/extension. Thats a nice necklace for $65..
Oh man! You came through Port Augusta again. if we’d known you were coming you’d have been welcome to stay at our place. If you ever come back, you are always welcome. We started watching your Aussie videos and then when we caught up with them, we went back to the beginning of the trip. Currently towards the end of Thailand! We enjoy your laid back, positive attitude and your honest feedback. Thanks for making such great videos!!!
Another wonderful video, absolutely love your style of presentation. Blueberry has done extremely well, unfortunately Australia just doesn't have the population for paved roads to all the good stuff, you're locked out of a lot of country when you're stuck to the blacktop.
Hey, you guys should come back to Adelaide. You missed the Big Rocking Horse and native animal petting zoo at Gumeracha. Also, you missed Morialta waterfall (just 20 minutes from the city center). Not to mention Glenelg beach! Come on back! 😉😁👍
The "detour" while initially disappointing has proved to be a success! Congrats to you guys on your drone footage since you got it - your growing creativity really adds to your videos. Good to see Blueberry has not let you down!
It's a pity you can't afford the underground motel. I have stayed at the one in white cliffs in NSW which is an opal town as well and it was freaking awesome as it's pitch black when the lights are out
Thanks for going to Cooper Pedy for me! It's somewhere I wanted to see, along with Uluru, but my dr has told me not to travel that far! I have some Paua Shell jewellry made in New Zealand from my grandmother, but no opals! What an interesting experience, I see now it's far more than a group of underground mining shacks and a few rough miners! Blueberry is an amazing car-friend, I never once doubted her keeping you safe! I hope she finds a kind new owner! 😪 Tasmania is quietly waiting to welcome you to its magical heart! 🤗💓
I'm so glad she bought an opal!!!! I did the same, as an American coming to Australia - but I didn't know much, so what I bought was called a "triplet," which is basically opal dust re-formed against an obsidian backing. That makes the opal affordable. I suspect Tia got a triplet. My triplet is beautiful - having so many colours, really catches the light nicely. But I have a goal to get a real stone, Australian opal.
As to your comment about 4WD, there is a reason that the two places with the highest sales numbers of Land Cruisers are Siberia and Australia. A good 4WD opens up so much more of the country. Often, the best bits.
Good on you Cheveyo! I did love Tia's reaction to the big ant - hilarious! Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures, we look forward to your video notifications.
Highly recommend a visit to “The Wave Rock”. Another Tia for scale 😮 special!! Also recommend driving to The Pinnacles. Awesome to drive around & a fabulous place to launch your drone! 🚙
Hi, love your channel. I happened upon it with you picking up the new Mazda 4WD in Perth and enjoyed it so much, I went back to the start and binged my way through. The pair of you remind so much me of my wife and I, when we first toured Aus way back in the 1970's (many of the main roads, including some of the Nullabor, were still unsealed back then, but we drove 2wd anyway). We have visited practically all the places you have and it is so nice to see a young couple enjoying time on the road. With Tia's attraction to big things, I was surprised you didn't show Kimba's Big Galah in this episode? It is only 200 metres up the road on the same side and practically opposite the grain silos! Did you actually miss it? There you go, you'll have to do what some Aussies do after doing the Big Lap, turn around and go around the other way! All the best, looking forward to watching to the point where I catch up to the end of the Aus video. Bob n Glenda - Perth (we moved from Melbourne 1980 because after travelling the country, as you said "That's the place to be").
I'm wondering why you guys didn't mention, or show any video of Kata Tjuta or Kings Canyon? 2 beautiful places. I'm glad that you stopped in at Coober Pedy to look through the mining area. A very unique town
The Coober Pedy mine tour was cool to see. I couldn't help feeling freaked out for the guys back in the day with only oil lamps & candles in those underground spaces 😳 Tough old buggers. Thanks for another entertaining vlog!
It's been a while, but I think it's come to the point where we have to say, my family and I watch you guys every night. We think you guys are awesome! Thank you for the great content you produce. Keep on travelling the world; keep on loving each other; and keep on making great content. Cheers from Australia!
Love the videos! It would be great to see you go back to Esperance and see the Great Ocean Drive. I think you missed it last time, definitely worth the drive.
love your videos. Love the silos. Australia has a number of old mining towns. Love the interaction between you two - and Tia thinking it was an actual ant.
I will miss your travels around our fair country very much 😊❤️❤️ so glad you guys have enjoyed your time here! Also I LOL'd a lot at the "Big Head" shelf - classic Australia right there. Tia's face when you got to the ants was fantastic too 😅
Hey guys - you should break new ground and go to Barossa Valley then go to Ballarat in Victoria, through Melbourne to Phillip Island, then along the east coast of Australia which you missed originally by going the inland route. Lots to see!
You both look very relaxed and happy in this vid. Safe drive back to perth . Dont forget Denmark its on your way......the most beautiful beaches and a lovely little town. 😊😊
My brother in law was a police officer in Coober Pedy quite a few years ago. He left the force and mined opal there. He and the family lived in a dug out house. Usual front then leads into underground rooms. I stayed with them and in the dugout bedroom at night it was the darkest dark you can imagine. Absolutely no light, it felt “thick” like cut it with a knife. Totally disorienting. Unfortunate you did not see right whales on the the Bight section of your trip. Quite awesome. Thanks and stay safe.
Hi Guys - if you are heading back across to WA - you should go out to Kalgoorlie - and from there out to a place call Lake Ballard (very cool salt lake with sculptures scattered on the dry salt bed - such a unique and breathtaking experience).
Another outstanding blog. Sorry you thought you needed a 4x4 to enjoy the Flinders ranges, ( so much could have been seen with blue berry) but hey always next time 😉 Love the ant reaction. Keep on enjoying life. and GO Blue Berry GO!!
Coober Pedy is surrounded by the Woomera Prohibited Area. The Woomera Prohibited Area is a large government military weapons testing area. So it's understandable that drones are not permitted.
Loving your videos, thank you for taking us with you. There is a giant natural wonder in Southern WA called Wave Rock. A natural rock formation that looks like an enormous wave. It is really worth seeing, if you feel inclined. You guys would love it….you can walk through and upon to it 💛
I second that! The phenomenon that is Wave Rock in Hyden WA truly doesn’t get the recognition it deserves along with the nearby ancient rock formations and caves. And perfect location for yet another Tiaforscale! Most visitors strike a ‘surfing pose’ for an iconic photo or video!
I have traveled most of the southern parts of Australia. Thank you for taking me to the North where my wife and I hope to travel to one day. At least now I have a better idea of what to expect and what to prepare for. Happy Travels Love your work...!!!
In addition to the more exotic parts of Western Australia and the Interior of South Australia and the Northern Territory; when you do round 2 with the 4WD, you might consider visiting Moreton Island (take a barge from Brisbane) or K'Gari (formerly known as Frasier Island) - a few hours north of Brisbane.
@@OnePackWanderers It's huge place, and you could very easily fill a week there - in addition to the beaches and fishing there are numerous fresh water lakes that make for great swimming, and very extensive hiking trails. Moreton Island is much smaller, you can see everything in a few days; but Tangalooma beach is a nicer swimming/snorkelling spot than anything on K'gari in my opinion. (you don't have to stay at the expensive Tangalooma resort in order to use the beach)
Glad you're still having fun. If you don't go up to Kalgoorlie to see the Big Pit, there are some lovely beaches around the SE coast, down to Point Leeuwin and Margaret River could be worth a visit,
I so love you guys. Glad you are taking an opal home Tia! You should do the Links golf course (at least a hole or two) as you cross the Nullarbor this time :)
You said from Port Augusta you will be back tracking, I am sure you may already realise this but when you get to Norseman turn right to Kalgoorlie and you will be on new roads. A great side trip from there is up to Gwalia ghost town.
Wow, you guys are certainly getting around. What an amazing trip you just did. You've inspired me again. My only trip to Central Australia was on a school camp exactly 35 years ago. (July 1988). This video brought back so many memories. In fact i've just looked at my old photo album of the trip, still in pristine condition. Was great seeing all those places again. Places I went to back then were Flinders Ranges, Bunyeroo valley, St Marys Peak, Oodnadatta, Cooper Pedy, John Flynns grave, Twin Ghost Gums, Alice Springs & Wall Mural, Kings Canyon, Todd River, Old Telegraph Station, Simpson's Gap, Uluru, Yulara, Aboriginal paintings, Digging Stick, Maggie Springs, Palm valley, Sphinx head, Mt Conner, Curtin Springs, Snake valley, Ormiston Gorge, Red cliffs of Glen Helen Gorge, Mt Sonder, Olgas, Devils Marbles, Bell Cave, Corroboree Rock, Heavitree Gap, Ross River, Dancing Lubra Hill, Ndahla Gorge rock carvings, and not to forget the incredible flora and fauna such as prehistoric Cycads, Sturt's desert rose, wildflowers, flame grevilleas, etc etc.... Oh and my favorite parts of the trip were the Camel rides and Joy flight over Uluru (Not the long and boring round trip from Melbourne ~5000 km coach ride). Keep going and keep up the good work. Cheers.
So pleased you got to see and showcase Coober Pedy - such a fascinating little town full of interesting history and colourful characters! The underground homes and hotels are really cool (literally and figuratively!) Moonscape country! Tiaforscale - love your work! As the family travel photographer, I used to use my boys for scale, now I use my husband - ‘hubbyforscale’ - thanks again guys!
Hi guys, You don't have to back track all the way. When you get to Norseman, turn right and then right at the Kambalda turn off and then left to go to Kalgoorlie-Boulder City. Apart from the Superpit, there is a lot to see in the area. You will then pass through Coolgardie on your way to Perth so there will be no back tracking at all. Don't miss Kal........😁
So where to when you get back to Perth? Its a shame you couldnt see north western Australia at the best time of the year. Ive loved watching watching your videos. You've seen a lot more of Australia than i ever have. Enjoy the Nullarbor again
Hey Tia & Cheveyo 👋🏼 Great video again! Just a word re 4x4’s; I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this 🤷🏼♀️ I’ve known a few travellers who buy their 4x4’s from other backpackers in the bigger cities. They fit them out with whatever they need/want, do their travels then sell them before flying home or elsewhere. Of course they’ve done some km’s & would need to be checked out thoroughly, although they’re generally well maintained because who wants to break down in the back of beyond!😅They can be cheaper than the market price because of the necessity to offload the vehicle before heading out. Marketplace(fb)always have a few. Just a thought 💭 Safe travels✌🏼
So glad you got to see Coober Pedy and picked up a quintessential Aussie souvenir that is beautiful and useful! Love travelling with you guys and will be sad to see you leave. Don't take too long to come back, will you? There's so much more to see yet!
I get excited when I see there is a new video to watch! You have done so well - both of you and your darling Bluebird is doing well too! I visited Port Augusta a couple of weeks ago to go and see the giant cuttlefish at Point Lowly - so it was nice to see it again. You will likely notice that things are greener than they were when you drove over in the late summer previously. I don't know what I will do when you finish your Aussie road trip! Hearing the sounds of the galahs on this video was glorious - a truly Australian bush sound. Their call takes me back to evenings at my grandmother's farm on southern Yorke Peninsula. You know what a galah is right? Those large grey cockatoos with deep pink breasts, their name also refers to someone who is a bit silly. Looking forward to the next video :) x
Enjoying your videos. We had a ‘Blueberry’ years ago and loved it. It was great car and we never had any problems with it but my husband sold it to buy a camera 🙄 We are now on our 3rd Mazda 😊
Coober with a B. It sounded like Cheveyo was saying Cooper. I guess it’s too late to warn you that the whole area is filled with vertical shafts so don’t fall down any of them! The miners each have a licence to dig and are limited to their own area, so they set up their own shops and displays. They don’t want you filming their layouts because they’re valuable mines.
I'm interested to see which way you take back to Perth. Going south along the coast is lovely this time of year for the greenery, but you could also go centrally, through Kalgoorlie. Guess we wait and see. :)
Oh yes, Kalgoorlie to visit the Super Pit open-cut gold mine - another iconic ‘big thing’! And the gigantic excavator shovel/bucket and tyres on display (same as used in the pit) made for Tiaforscale! Hammond Park (free entry) across the road from the cemetery is worth a visit for the Australian wildlife, birds, flora and gardens. Also lots of interesting historic pubs and buildings - so much history there!
The miners are very protective of their mining leases and if someone flew their drone over their pils of spoil they could see if they were digging in a good reef and then people would come poach
Loving these videos great work guys. Although instead of travelling the Nullarbor again should’ve travelled east back into western New South Wales on to Broken Hill maybe the Murray River cruise Central NSW has a lot sightseeing and activities then on to the Blue Mountains to finish in Sydney
Enjoyed Coooer Pedy...sad your coming to the end of Australian roadtrip...so much more to explore...we live on the Mornington Peninsula not far from Phillip Island Victoria... hopefully you,ll be back to explore more of this great country.....😊
Tia:- "Prices aren't so bad".😂😂😂 You two are brilliant together, it's so refreshing to see your unbridled enthusiasm. Absolutely love your channel.🇭🇲🇺🇲👍
Although it wasn’t on the video, hope you guys managed to see ‘The Big Galah’ along the Eyre Highway at Kimba - the ‘Halfway Across Australia’ town that had the silo art and the flock of galahs which you filmed.
What a lovely couple you are. I live in Australia and started watching your videos when you arrived in Cairns. I have since gone back and watched a few from other countries. What an amazing experience. I love your views on our country and I am seeing things I've never seen before, and you make it fun to watch.
Thanks for all the great videos across Australia! I’m from Melbourne and seeing these videos wants to make me see more of my own country. Keep up the good content. Cheers 🍻
Tia's reaction to the huge ant was priceless. She makes me laugh so hard.

Same here, I have lived in South Australia all my life and they have seen more of the state than I have.
Can’t be,I eve your Aussie adventure is almost over 🇦🇺😢 don’t stay away too long please 🥰🇦🇺
Your videos are only getting better. You are two really likeable content creators
Cheveyo you earned a lot of browny points buying that opal. Next stop the rock shop in Coolgardie. Should old Vern still be prospecting you may even pick up a beautiful piece of gold in black quartz. So much more to see. You'll love Kalgoorlie and it's history.
It's nice to see how considerate you are of others when filming, either in busy areas or with regards to using the drone. Kudos to you guys!
We used to go gold and opal prospecting for holidays as kids..
White Cliffs was where we went for opal, its the same white/crystal opal as Coober Pedy. (black opal, white opal, crystal opal, jelly opal, fire opal, hyalite, water opal, hydrophane and honey opal)
We found a lot of bits on the "mullock heaps" as kids.. some really nice bits.. (mullock heaps are the dirt buildup around a mine)
There are estimated to be well over 1 MILLION holes out there.. its actually quite dangerous and a big snake area too, so you have to be a bit careful..
Definitely see the Flinders next time - they are very beautiful.
Hey, you guys should come back to Adelaide. You missed the Big Rocking Horse and native animal petting zoo at Gumeracha. Also, you missed Morialta waterfall (just 20 minutes from the city center). Not to mention Glenelg beach! Come on back! 😉😁👍
Oh and port willunga beach and mclaren vale
Love this series & love your work guys! ❤ ..This might be the best thing I’ve ever watched on TH-cam.🙌🙌🙌
Could go to Kalgoorlie and see the Gold mining town and the Super Pit.
Most mining town in Australia is Broken Hill - where the company BHP started in the 1800's and is now the biggest mining company in the world.
Will you head north to Broome when you get back to Perth? Just wondering. Also, the Big Ant? Would have had me shreaking " Them! Them! "
Now that your backtracking, it feels like the pressure it off and you're more relaxed now and having fun with the narrative and direction 🤠
Sorry you thought you needed a 4x4 to enjoy the Flinders ranges, ( so much could have been seen with blue berry) but hey always next time 😉
Love the ant reaction.
Keep on enjoying life.
and GO Blue Berry GO!!
Coober Pedy is surrounded by the Woomera Prohibited Area. The Woomera Prohibited Area is a large government military weapons testing area. So it's understandable that drones are not permitted.
Are you planning to take a different route once you get to Norseman? You could go north to Kalgoorlie and then head to Perth the inland way.
Definitely going to take a 4X4 for K'Gari!
You guys always make me laugh 😊 Such fun seeing my country through your eyes.
Cheers.
PS. And good on you Cheveyo. Such a romantic gesture buying Tia an Opal necklace ;) Hope you founds a few more opals in the mines too.
Love the drone shots.
Just a thought 💭
Safe travels✌🏼
So happy you guys stopped in at Cooper Peedy.... yay !!!!
I'm legit beaming at Tia's reaction and Cheveyo's " AH-HAAAAA " lol
Glad you went to Coober Pedy. It’s is unique 🎉glad you and blueberry are holding up so well !!
I love Tia's reaction to the big ant.
Never thought you guys would be heading west on the same road, it kind of is nostalgic.
I think on the way back to Perth you should visit the super pit in Kalgoorlie.
Turquoise Bay, Broome, the Bungle Bungles, Horizontal Falls.... are you sure you don't have time?
When I was a kid we fossicked around looking for little pieces of opal. Mostly found potch though. You can't do that any more . Great place to visit.
Tia:- "Prices aren't so bad".😂😂😂
You two are brilliant together, it's so refreshing to see your unbridled enthusiasm. Absolutely love your channel.🇭🇲🇺🇲👍
She was giving him some subtle hints 😂
@@susanab7 They worked! 😁
Although it wasn’t on the video, hope you guys managed to see ‘The Big Galah’ along the Eyre Highway at Kimba - the ‘Halfway Across Australia’ town that had the silo art and the flock of galahs which you filmed.
Such a genuine couple enjoying the world and life... can't wait to see more. Thanks Ryan for talking them into vlogging.
you pair really have me along for the ride love it
Next time, veer off before Port Augusta and head to Hawker.
Then a bit further hike at Wilpena Pound .
I've enjoyed following your Aussie travels 😊
What a lovely couple you are. I live in Australia and started watching your videos when you arrived in Cairns. I have since gone back and watched a few from other countries. What an amazing experience. I love your views on our country and I am seeing things I've never seen before, and you make it fun to watch.
Great Video 💖 Australia is the Land of Parrots,💖 Great Drone shots too ,Many thanks for Coober Pedy👍🤩
Thanks for all the great videos across Australia! I’m from Melbourne and seeing these videos wants to make me see more of my own country. Keep up the good content. Cheers 🍻
