    Great video. We recently drove through this area and stopped in at Mary Kathleen and drove up to the mine site. It is a fantastic view.

    Must agree Steve there should have been a Penrith sign but after beating the Broncos last time I’m not surprised, are you originally from the Penrith area? Go the mighty Penrith Panthers and the Blues as well👍

      Hey Mark, yes I grew up in Lethbridge Park in the Mt Druitt/ St Mary’s area, we use to catch the train out to Penrith and watch the games nearly every weekend because we played footy in the local comp we received free tickets to all the panthers home games. Go The PANTHERS 🐾🐾🐾🐾

    Thanks for the memories my late husband and I went out the way in 2012, Mary Kathleen was a very interesting place, and we also did the mine tour in Mt Isa,

    G’day. Missed a bit of your travels as we are travelling! We were at Mary Kathleen a few weeks ago on the way to Kakadu and Arnhem Land… it’s absolutely a gem! Camooweal Billabong is also special. Cheers guys. Paul and Bernadette

      hey mate, we went onto to Darwin. We stayed at the billabong about a month ago and really enjoyed it. We’re in Uluru at the moment, getting ready to head east via the Plenty Hwy

    We love Mary Kathleen. We really love the Ballara mining trail across the highway from Mary Kathleen. We did the mine tour with our teenage boys and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

      Thank you, we saw that when we were there and didn’t get the chance to do it. I’ll put it on the list for next time

    Thank you both for the look around Mary K,we will be there in🎉the first half of next year hopefully.We will be starting our travels around Australia in September and we are curious as to what precautions you take when you leave your van unattended in free camps and places like that.Keep up the good work and safe travels.Thank you in advance for any advice you can give us.👍

    • @trip42australia

      Thank you mate, when we first started travelling we done short trips away from the van until we felt comfortable leaving it longer. We always sus out the area we are staying in, talk to the neighbours if they are nearby, we use a Kovic Alarmed Hitch Lock that we bought at Supercheap for about $200, I also run a Kovic security cable through two wheels and lock it with a heavy duty padlock. we make sure all windows, doors, hatches etc are locked and pack everything away before heading out for the day. Most crimes that we’ve heard of have been opportunistic because people have either left things out or unlocked. To date we really haven’t had any problems or felt uncomfortable leaving our van for the day. Hope this helps Steve

      Thank you I wasn’t 100% sure how the new and old would go but I think it was ok. I wanted to do a lot more because there is so many things to see in MK but I couldn’t find many old photos online

    On another matter....what is the stubby holder on your antenna for?

    • @trip42australia
      @trip42australia  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, the stubbie holder is from a few we had made for the channel, they weren’t the best quality so we never went any further with them. We might revisit them one day.

    How much of that contaminated water ends up leeching into the groundwater? 🤔

      Thanks for watching. I’ve got to say Mick I wondered the very same thing when we were there. I’ve met some people who said they use to swim there as children
