    The western disregard for tradition causes loss in many directions, however it allows for thinking outside the cultural box to grow and advance in other directions.

    the last guy is right though. long guard kind of sucks in kickboxing because the opponent can just close distance and start punching. against a pressure fighter who just closes the distance for a punch combination, long guard not only opens you up for hooks and uppercuts but shortens the time window for parrying jabs and crosses too. in muay thai, you'd just clinch the guy and start kneeing and elbowing him, but clinching is against kickboxing rules (so is elbowing).
    your punch distance with the long guard is also shorter, which will make your punches harder to dodge, but that also means that you cannot accelerate your punches as much. As force equals mass times acceleration, less acceleration means weaker punches. weaker punches + no clinch means opponent can just go into high guard and dive into the pocket without taking significant damage. high guard sucks in clinch situations, but again: clinching is against kickboxing rules.

      I have trained and competed in both sports. And trained in the highest level gyms in both sports. First of all, without dissrespect, this kicboxing gym (from the video) is really average, and obviously they caused him problems. Dutch Kicboxing (glory as a prime organization), is prime striking organization/sport. Everything else is being dellusional. And this is not a diss to Muay Thai as they all do to other sports, but a reality. @@aftershanshow4463

    One thing I've learned is that in Muay Thai and kickboxing you really got to get a handle on that emotional fragility that most men have sparring is about a learning experience is not about trying to win...but most peeps suck at life and so they want to get a "Win" dont be that guy

      @muaymichael I really wish I could do muay thai like you. I took a class in college, but there was no clinching or sparring. I then took a boxing class also, but again no sparring. I liked muay thai the most because it felt the most combat effective. The city I live in has high rent so I want to save up enough money after I move so I can do it like you. Hopefully, I'll land a job that will let me train in Thailand and pay me twice the amount.

      @muaymichael I've done a lot of research and I've watched a lot of boxing and MMA fights. My favourite Muay Thai fighter is Tawanchai because he is the closest in age to me, and he is what I believe to a pure Muay Thai fighter. My favourite kickboxer is Alex Pereira because he strikes with no telegraph and he's got a amazing left hook. My favourite MMA fighter is either Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.

    The ammount of close mindedness and dissrespect thai guys show to dutch kicboxing is unreal. While in reality Glory Dutch Kixboxing is a prime stand up sport at the moment. MT didn't evolve so much in the last 10 years, precisely because of this. As someone who trained and competed in both sports, I will tell you in a hypothetical fight between 2 same level fighters, dutch kicboxer will win 7 out of 10 times even by MT rules. To an untrained eye, MT will look flashy, more violent, stronger, but in reality MT is too slow and stiff, with really bad boxing. No footwork, no rythm, every move is exaggerated and extremely predictable. Every training is the same, pads, sparring clinching, they don't learn anything advanced, and this way, you progress too slow. Go watch Donovan Wisse, to see what a masterclass in striking looks like.

    • @KemalArdilGulez
      @KemalArdilGulez 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with your general sentiment about Dutch Kickboxing and Muay Thai (except I have no idea about how disrespectful Thai guys are, I didn't do a whole lot of research about it) and how proficient Donovan Wisse is (I watched him make the #1 contender look like a clown and added like 10 combos that I saw from him in my shadow boxing routine). I also find the Muay Thai stance too narrow and stiff and footwork almost non-existent.
      However, I have to say that "I will tell you in a hypothetical fight between 2 same level fighters, dutch kicboxer will win 7 out of 10 times even by MT rules." is kind of wrong, at least at the weight classes between Flyweight and Lightweight. I mean, Petch is the Glory Featherweight (65kg) champion for the past 5+ years and also fought for the Lightweight (70kg) title. Sittichai held the Glory Lightweight title for 3 years. Funny enough, they both got their titles from Robin van Roosmalen, a Dutch kickboxer from Netherlands. Also, most of the kickboxing champions and contenders in One Championship (Superlek, Rodtang, Nong O, Ferrari Fairtex, Superbon, Tawanchai, Sittichai, Jo Nattawut) are also Thai fighters who trained Muay Thai for their entire lives. Skilled kickboxers like Chingiz Allazov make Thai fighters look like light work, but a lot of Dutch style kickboxers with superior footwork, boxing and versatility falter against skilled Thai fighters, even by kickboxing rules, at the weight classes I mentioned above.
      I also believe that a similarly skilled Dutch Kickboxer would beat the Muay Thai Fighter 7 times out of 10 at Regional/National championship level, but this is not the reality at the highest level of Kickboxing or Muay Thai between Flyweight and Lightweight (i.e. where highest skilled Muay Thai fighters fight).
