      Currently training at "Saekson Janjira Muay Thai." cause it was the first gym I found near me that offered Muay Thai more than 1 time a week.

    I used to live in China. I trained under Thai and Filipino coaches. I'm training back in Britain now. Main thing I've noticed is more clinch taught in Asia. What was your experience of the clinch being taught?

    • @muaymichael
      @muaymichael  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Hey Alex, thats spot on - exactly my experience too. It's way more present in Thailand and I think in the clinch its also where most foreigners struggle against a Thai. They just practice it more often =) sounds like you had a good time!

      I lived mainly in Beijing. There were lots of commercial gyms. They seem to have been around for a while. The marketplace in China is capitalist just like everywhere else. If there's demand someone can supply it. Also most people aren't too keen on traditional Chinese martial arts anymore because there's been lots of evidence online of how ineffectual they can be in a full contact fight

    Do you have any suggestion on what to do with my left side. I tried muy thai in thailand for 2 sessions, once in koh tao and once in bangkok, was really fun and im planning to go back next year maybe for 3-6 months to practice. Thing is when kicking on my left side, it feels so weird, like i have no control over my left kick. right side is no problem and i can kick hard and fast but left side is so bad. also do you have some good excercises for stifnes?
    cant wait to train again, no thai boxing where i live unfortunetely. But im going to gym every 2 day now and focusing on building strenght and conditioning as i have a dream of one day go 1-1 in a muy thai fight also. The sparring doesnt count :P

    I’ve trained in both countries, personally I think you loose a lot in Thailand by not developing pad holding, it helps you see the game in a different way

    Great video man! There is nowhere like Thailand. I trained at Phuket Singha, Yotharak and Fairtex when I was in Thailand for 2 months. I train at Sittichok gym in Las Vegas when I'm in the US, and different gyms in Vietnam. You did a good job emphasizing that it is culture and the sport for Thai people is only a small part, whereas for westerners it is just a "sport". My biggest difference I noticed is the running every day, and no air conditioning ever, just 100% humidity 😂

    I like the Japanese, European style better. The Thai style were good in the golden era days. Now most Muay Thai focus on gambling, so they focus more on aggression than technique. There are a select few like Sitjaopho who focus on technique.

    Hey Michael ..do you believe that some gyms in the world are watered down versions of good Muay thai ? I train in Paraquay and how do i know if the gym is just focused on strenght and power? I ve been training for 1 year now for 1-3 times a week depending my work shedule. I feel that i hardly ever trained clinch training for example or do i need more experience ? Lg

    • @muaymichael

      Clinching is normally “bigger” in Thailand than in other counties. So it’s not surprising that its not in the usual training schedule… If you are still happy with your progress, theres nothing wrong with the training =)
