    My son trained in Thailand for 2 weeks. In that short time frame he actually learned quite a bit. His clinch was maybe the biggest improvement. Here in the states clinch is not really stressed. I would guess that is because not many folks here generally know it. In addition, the students hold pads for each other like what you showed in England. This is a 2 edged sword IMO. It takes time to learn how to hold pads and my son's workouts generally degrade when his fellow students hold for him. I very much prefer the Thai protocol of having the trainer handle the pads. At least until the students begin to aquire some skills of their own. With that said they must be doing something right in England. They have some tremendous fighters from there.

      @Nonegiven14582 Boxing is a great base and IMO the first striking discipline to learn. With that said, Muay Thai is a more complete discipline than straight Boxing. In fact, I wouldn't even characterize Muay Thai as a pure striking art. It also incorporates a great deal of stand-up grappling.
      I hope you are not referring to Muay Thai as rubbish?

If there's demand someone can supply it. Also most people aren't too keen on traditional Chinese martial arts anymore because there's been lots of evidence online of how ineffectual they can be in a full contact fight

    Great video man! There is nowhere like Thailand. I trained at Phuket Singha, Yotharak and Fairtex when I was in Thailand for 2 months. I train at Sittichok gym in Las Vegas when I'm in the US, and different gyms in Vietnam. You did a good job emphasizing that it is culture and the sport for Thai people is only a small part, whereas for westerners it is just a "sport". My biggest difference I noticed is the running every day, and no air conditioning ever, just 100% humidity 😂

    Do you have any suggestion on what to do with my left side. I tried muy thai in thailand for 2 sessions, once in koh tao and once in bangkok, was really fun and im planning to go back next year maybe for 3-6 months to practice. Thing is when kicking on my left side, it feels so weird, like i have no control over my left kick. right side is no problem and i can kick hard and fast but left side is so bad. also do you have some good excercises for stifnes?
    cant wait to train again, no thai boxing where i live unfortunetely. But im going to gym every 2 day now and focusing on building strenght and conditioning as i have a dream of one day go 1-1 in a muy thai fight also. The sparring doesnt count :P

      @perfectly_flawed_v2.0 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You tried Muay Thai for only two sessions in total? And feel that your left kick is weird? Ive got news for you my friend. Its the same for everyone. Start going to a gym and practice that kick like Michael says, try 50-100 kicks on the bag after each session. When you add up to a couple of thousand kicks in total, you should be feeling the results. Film yourself, ask the good students for advice, and break down the kick in parts and work on each part. until it comes together. There is no shortcut and a great Muay Thai kick is the result of hard and smart work only. :)

    Only difference is that the British gyms pretend they know Muay Thai and are ultimatley full of idiots even the instructors. If you want to train you go to Thailand, Tiger Gym Pattaya is good. If you dont kick a certain way in England or punch a certain way they tell you how, even if your punches are more powerful and quicker, but everyone is different flex and strength, bodies move different, and actually it can put you at more of a disadvantage doing something your body just doesnt really want to do.
