Remember the google pixel scandal ? It can't be used as an always on display like on Jibo unless you want the color blue to be all fucked 1 year after purchase. Oled doesnt like heat and being turned on for long periods and even if not turned on the blue leds degrade due to the nature of the organic compound. (See literally all the used Ps-Vitas on the market) Oled is not reliable. Now fuck off.
the first generation OLED was prone to get burn-inns, like the first revision PSVita's. OLED have then changed and alternative OLED technologies has come to the market making burn-inns less of an issue but with some sacrifices. but for a product like this OLED is waste, reason? price of OLED and that Jibo is a gimmick needing to be cheap.

They "fixed" the screen... but didn't make it OLED. Literally it's biggest problem, and they didn't fix it. At least add a vignetting tint to it to hide the edges Jibo!

What do you mean? It'd be great. If a friend is picking something up, telling the kids you're out and their rooms need to be cleaned. It's just meant to pass on a message, it's not a problem. If my wife is on a walk and left her phone and I was headed to the dollar store or something, I could just have this guy let her know I'd be back in a few.

If they're not looking at your messages then they are ignoring you, and if they're ignoring you then they sure as hell ain't gonna listen to a robot giving out your instructions.
I'm actually kind of rooting for Jibo. As far as stationary assistant robots are concerned, he has my favorite design by far. Hopefully he'll continue to get better with software, and of course, become MUCH cheaper.

Jibo can be used by mute people, to communicate with others by speaking and not using sign language. Mute person types something on their phone, Jibo speaks for them, and the non-mute person doesnt have to know sign language. So I definitely see some uses for robotic assistants, even at this very early stage. Linus is correct though, until they can move around and maybe also be able to carry something, like a tray with plates/glasses, their uses are very limited and they are more of a cool gadget than anything particularly useful. In short, most of us have no use for the plastic can that is Jibo, but some could definitely use it. P.S. Not that the text to speech function is new or anything, its just that Jibo can do that wirelessly and it looks cooler coming from a robotic assistant than from a phone.

I want Google to buy them, integrate Google Assistant, fix and improve everything fixable and improvable and release this as the next tier Google Home assistant device. I'll buy two, no questions asked.

ZanukaBootyHunter tell that to my (almost) 2 year old S7 with always-on display. OLEDs aren't as sensitive to burn-ins as people think.
