    0:20 from Reddit: “From OP: “He actually wanted it for a gene test because he recently found out he had one that isn’t all that great so he wanted to see if I did. The problem was that this e-mail was also connected to my mom, which she has a lot of things connected to her. It was too dangerous to just give him out the e-mail as my dad has a history of falling for scams””

      TY for providing that MyrielT, but I'm still confused here. It sounds like one of those skeezy FBI scams where none of this makes sense to regular people.
      He has a "bad' gene test? He wants to email the kid or have someone email the kid something and that tells him that the kid has a 'good' one?
      He can use the kid's mom's email if he has the kid's email? Having the kid's email helps him fall for scams?
      WTH is going on❔ Whether or not the dad is a crackpot, the kid sounds like he smoked the paranoia pot.

      I think love is unconditional both ways, even if you absolutely hate them you probably still feel love for them, it's a biological thing. Respect is never unconditional though and anyone that tells you it is is probably trying to control you.

    • @MadAliceInWonderland
      @MadAliceInWonderland ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It's a complex thing. I have love for my parents, and they have love for me. But I also hate them to a degree, because they were abusive as hell and took advantage of that love. Now we sporadically talk here and there, but I'm just glad I'm an adult and out of that hell-hole. The love is there, but it's not healthy love. Love isn't always enough, unconditional or not, love itself isn't what can save a relationship between parent and child.

    0:40 my mom does this all the time, she'll ask me to come over or do something and i'll ask "why" and she'll always respond "because i asked you to" she says she hates when i ask why and i've asked her why she can't just tell me what she wants from me and she never gives me an answer, i can only assume it's something along the lines of "you should just do it and not ask questions" but she knows i'm autistic and hate not knowing exactly what's going on, and even if it wasn't the case i feel like it's reasonable to want a preview of what you're being asked to do

    • @Cheesus-Sliced
      @Cheesus-Sliced ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It *is* reasonable to know what you're committing to before committing to it. The only time it's reasonable for someone to expect you to act immediately when told is when it's time critical and it's been discussed before hand, and these things are usually hobby or work related anyway. Anyone who refuses to tell you what you're getting involved in before you make the choice to be involved has no respect for your agency.

      “Because I said so” is the laziest argument of all time. It simply shows how a person’s status makes them better than the one being asked to do something. If you don’t want to explain something, you can simply say that. (If you live in the USA) you have the right to silence, but the other party should have the right to refuse. Show them that they aren’t just a puppet and that they can say no. But if you make a decision that you strongly believe is a good idea and the child disagrees, then “I’m your parent and I said so” can be a valid argument, but it should be used as much as martial artists try to fight. Rarely, but when necessary

    Like, even the goddamn beds, the entire rooms went out the 2nd floor window and they had to pick it all up and haul it back to their bedrooms on their own

    I grew up in a very Cristian home and whenever i asked my parents something like my anger issues and how to cope they would always respond "PRAY" and to this day i still felt like they never knew what they were doing or that they didn't want to help me.
    also they were the white equivalent to the Asian parent stereotype, being disappointed in me if i got a B in a class even if it was my worst class. and i would say "at least i passed" and they respond with "backtalk"
    I also want to join the USMC and they say that the Marines wont take me if i "nearly" failed a class back in freshman year. so i tell them that the Marines dont really care and my mom lost it saying that apparently i know more even though i looked up more info on the Marines than she ever will in her life.

    This sub reminds me a lot of my own mother. Over the years, I've realized people can change given a sufficient amount of time, but my mom taught me there are people you shouldn't waste your energy on. She destroyed my life from a young age and still acts like I owe her my life simply because she's my mom. When she dies, I won't be able to live anymore because of her. But at least I'll be free.

    Technically been with emkay since 100k subcribers, not a huge accomplishment since it too them awhile to get there. But i genuinly appreciate all the work all of the voice actors (especially damian. Not because he's better than any others I just vibe with his voice tone more than the others. Love the others too but damian is my pie yknow?)put in yknow? they're top notch and super under appreciated. Like imagine the effort that goes in before editing. The video length u see is mayeb 6% of what was actally recorded. That's a lot of amazing time they spent for us. For basically free(Yes they allow ads to be put in but youtube actuall charges creators with over 750k to deny ads, it costs them 10% revenue)

      Doesn't matter if the kids old enough to use email on their own and social media they can tell them why by sending a quick text like commentator said they could be signing up the email for spam or something they don't want there's no context or dad can create another email for it but that requires knowledge of technology from what I've seen a lot of parents like this don't have.

    My mom did that a lot when me and my siblings were younger (she just wouldn't sell them she would throw the stuff away or donate it, I can't exactly remember.) She would give me and my sibling a time limit to clean our room (we shared a room at the time- and this was only when we took too long to clean) and then come in with a trash bag and make us just sit there while she threw all of our stuff away, and then take the bag away and we never saw it again.

    Beating children under any circumstance, unless it's for like actual self-defense, is horrendous and wrong.

    Ok as someone who has trauma from this sort of thing I can tell exactly what's going on.
    Kid has been told many times to clean room but never does. Parent perceives them as a pig and a hoarder and the kid is further plugged into having no motivation to better the situation. Being unable to clean a room that desperately needs cleaning can happen for multiple reasons like depression and ADHD paralysis. Also if you just scream at the kid to clean room then they won't learn to do it in any sort of process which can lead to them running into the same issue in the future. They may also feel pressured by expectations.
    How to address this, sort of situation with the child appropriately:
    Use it as a learning opportunity. Section the room. After a section you can quit for awhile and start again a few hours later or the next day. Teach the kid to associate some sort of entertaining background noise to be cleaning music like a specific artist. Music is the best motivation for cleaning. DO NOT THREATEN THE KID WITH THROWING EVERYTHING AWAY. and do not throw things away without permission. This has caused a huge fight in my family.
