the episode you guys have been waiting for… this was a rough watch for me (and probably all of you, too) - RIP Vander, Mylo & Claggor 💔 oh the misery. we are a few episodes ahead on Patreon if you’re interested in watching the FULL, UNCUT episodes: www.patreon.com/sailorkayla
I like how this show tricks you with the first two episodes, you think Arcane isn’t gonna be anything crazy but so far it’s pretty interesting and so you keep watching. Then episode 3 comes along and everything you thought you knew just crumbles in front of you.
"their 2 friends died" 2 Foster Brothers. Vi, Powder, Claggor, and Mylo were a family... the adopted children of Vander... Orphans of the war/uprising with Piltover. That's what you missed in the Mylo/Powder interactions... yeah he was a jerk... but big brothers usually are to their younger siblings.... especially a middle sibling like Mylo who has an older sibling like Vi.
@@Todrick451 I discuss this in the beginning of next episode - I am aware they were foster siblings! I can only post so much of the episode to TH-cam so ultimately a lot of commentary and scene discussion gets cut.
This is a happy happy children's show where nothing goes wrong, nosiree, noooothing goes wrong at all- this white room is so soft amd this straitjacket so comfy
While you won't always agree with WHAT a character does, the show tries very hard to make you understand WHY they did it. Every character has good points and bad points. And every motivation is explored and explained. (edited for spelling)
oh yeah, I feel conflicted about SO many characters in my watch so far... :( it's incredibly realistic though and I appreciate how this series writes their characters
So this epsiode really explains why the chorus of the intro is "Oh the misery" haha. I love the tragic parallels of the the brotherhood between Vander-Silco and the sitserhood between Vi-Powder falling apart in this conflict. All of them always wanted the best for each other, and end up tearing each other apart instead. But perhaps the perfect dramatic irony is that the kids pland would have worked. Milo had Vander out, Vi got them all the time they needed and Claggor had an escape ready. Then Powder accidentally killed them all. The road to hell truly is paved wit good intentions.
9:55 ultimatly they are not on the same side despite the fact that they both want what is best for the lanes. Vander accepts a peace that keeps them oppressed. Silco goes to war over a freedom that might cost everything.
@sailorkaylax Because 'we had everything and they broke us and left these pieces. And now we want you to hurt like they hurt us today and want you to lose like we lose when we play what could have been'.
@@sailorkaylax I think i really benefitted from NOT knowing League at all. I also didn't watch any trailers or know anything about this show except that people said it was fantastic... So, watching the first 3 episodes i had no idea what was coming. I kind of feel bad for those who did. this episode hit like a gut punch.... just brutal.
As someone who just found your channel as it popped up recommended with all the Arcane adjacent stuff I watch on here, I can't speak to why those who have been here awhile wanted you to watch it. I can say, the reason I love the show and love sharing it is because it creates a connection. It's such a raw show, and they paint things so realistically, the characters having understandable motives and choices. There's pain, but there's also beauty and hope. It paints existence as this tangled mess of chance and choice that's real. I've never had a show make me cry, both good and bad, more times than this one. I've also never had a show that I've spent so many hours talking with my friends about, exploring the choices and the emotions and just becoming more aware of what it means to struggle to be a good person in a society sometimes. Haven't had a show in a long time connect me as deeply with others as this one. Hopefully you enjoy the ride as well. :)
this is so beautiful! I love how realistic these characters are, flaws and all - lots of tears throughout my watch so far, and I am far from done. looking forward to the rest of the ride! thanks for watching!
To be honest this was the saddest episode in my eyes it tore me up physically and emotionally. Powder was only trying to help I feel so sorry for her.😢
I hope you don't stop watching this show. Arcane teachme love the life, already love the live but its more stronger than before. Friendship, thrust, honesty and hope. The ep 4 maybe can reconfort in part.
I'd be lying if i said Arcane doesn't have anything harder to watch than this episode... BUT, as low as the lows are... the highs are higher... and it's worth the journey. this might not make sense yet... but it will when you are done: Arcane Season 2, is the show. Arcane Season 1 is required, so you understand Season 2... like a prequel, kind of. Arcane Season 1, ep1-3 is required, so you understand Season ep4-9... like a prequel, kind of. i mean, all sequential stories would seem to fit that description "you have to watch one episode to understand the next".... but I think Arcane is different. The first season is really about allowing you to understand the 2nd... unlike other shows there is no way you could jump into season 2 and piece together what's happening. And the same is true for episodes 4-9 of season 1.... it would be impossible to understand without 1-3
what? No spoilers.... but no. I think this show went over your head. - (kayla, this is not a direct spoiler, but hints at a key thematic element you may want to discover as you watch) I'd argue the antagonist of Arcane isn't even a person... watch the finale of the series again. I wont say what it is specifically because ... spoilers. but a character (many see as the main antagonist) says flat out what it is... saying it is the cause of "our greatest evil."
I understand the hate for Marcus, I do. I don't think he deserves all the hate that he gets though. But I agree he deserves what he gets in the story. He starts out as a hothead who's out to prove himself. Perhaps he would have turned out ok with a few more years under Grayson's wing. But he makes a deal with a man he doesn't understand in an attempt to appease the council and he gets double-crossed in that deal to boot. Spoilers ahead: He tries to atone for his failings by saving Vi in the only way he can think of and he tries to follow Grayson's example of keeping the peace by working with Silco. But the dynamic is much different; he has no leverage in this relationship and Silco is not Vander. And by the way, Marcus HATES Silco. He would kill Silco given the chance but for the fact that Marcus is a father, a SINGLE father, who would orphan his daughter if he didn't succeed. And when Silco learns of Marcus' one transgression, he uses this pressure point to bend him completely to his will. Everything Marcus does after that is to protect his daughter. Ultimately he's simply an average man of no special talent or ability who made a bad choice early in his career and digs himself into a hole that he can never get out of. He may even be on the cusp of redeeming himself until Silco threatens him where he lives. After all, is there anything so undoing as a daughter?
@@Todrick451 I think the show went over YOUR head. The character who said that ultimately realizes that they were wrong about that in the end. The villains and antagonists in the show are certainly people. The fact that they have sympathetic motivations doesn't change the fact that they're villains.
@ I have two daughters, and yes they can be and are undoing. I just have no sympathy for a man who out of his own insecurities would choose to put his family into such a situation. Pretty much all other characters I can see their POV to one degree or another. He’s just an asshole.

25:20 oh sweet child, you don't know what you've gotten yourself into.
This is not an easy show, but for sure the better I ever watched. Sweet and hearbreaker.
Powder's voice actress was 11 when she did that performance, btw. What raw talent 🔥
Don't worry, this is just the begining. It gets more painful each episode 😊

The heartache do not end with this episode. This is the start of all the trauma. Every character has an arc and the writing is brilliant.
This show as an unmatchable ability to hurt ... and when you think it's over, it adds another layer of suffering. But its sooooo good.

Thank you both, very much!
