Scott W. I feel you. In Kansas, where I am originally from, I wouldn’t consider a sun roof. That is a miserable hot. Not sure the weather in Reno, but this heat is so much more bearable!
I've been driving Titans for 11 years and love them, my 2018 4x4 SV is awesome mph average 18 navigation work seamless it will learn the way you talk but will get confused if two people speak at the same time. Absolutely the best truck on the market in my opinion and the best warranty on any vehicle 100k bumper to bumper
I don't understand why reviews of any product outside the big 3 of Ford, GM, Ram are so convoluted. I like watching your videos, but I cannot but sometimes feel that there is an underlying tone to always lean toward the big 3 and while other brands seem to have the good, ...BUT... always included. For example, this review presented an opportunity to provide real world feedback that real truck owners want to know. Your review should have focused on this opportunity instead of wasting so many minutes on non-relevant non-sense included in most of the first 2/3rds of the video. Categories like: fuel economy: you read the gauge at 12.x on the display. Everyone knows these displays present a calculated average for the session and do not real world mixed highway/city mpg unless constantly refreshed after each driving session. Anyone that uses these trucks know the real average is 16-18 mpg, in the 1/2 ton truck class. Nissan truck owners also know from experience that Nissan trucks typically score on the lower end of the mpg average range when compared to other truck brands, and has been so constant in previous generations of Titans and is so for the Frontiers in the mid-size as well. reliability: It was not until the last 1/3rd of the video did you speak about what matters, how the truck performed well over the 6 month time frame with no issues, mechanical or otherwise, no check engine lights, etc... Nathan stated "user experience was good when used on vacation by wife and family, ... hey this matters when our passengers have no complaints! Each of you spoke positively, yet in the end such a mediocre recommendation, I cannot recommend to buy it? What? Its like going to a restaurant, cleaning off your plate in 30 seconds, and the waiter asks how was it, and you say... "the steak could have been bigger, the veggies needed more butter, ...." just say it was good! This is important when multiple people are using the truck and no one can point to a real complaint or problem to report. focusing on a lack of engine choices, when the engine that is offered is for all intent and purposes established over several years of service and known to be a solid performer is silly. Evaluate what you have in front of you, a simple statement that it is the only engine available is enough. Why waste time about a lack of engine choices because Ford or GM or RAM offer choices. Everyone knows that multiple choices/configurations is an American Automotive thing and that most other brands do not follow this model. Focusing on a lack of 8" or 10" display, only one engine choice or how it looks like a 2014 Ford....really guys? You are better than this. Here are the facts, all truck mfgs discount their trucks so suggested mfg pricing means nothing. All truck mfgs over state the towing capability to an unrealistic number and even in this video I believe I heard Nathan state that he would not tow 11k in the Rebel even though it is rated for it. That's right Nathan. You know it is not safe. So when Nissan says the Titan is rated for just under 9300#, this is more realistic and honest. In the end as your drive was finishing you were saying positive things, nothing negative, yet you then conclude "it is not a buy" and revert back to the earlier comments unrelated to the overall performance and experience of using the truck. As a truck owner & purchaser since 1983, I appreciate real word first hand experience of other people. From your review, your ownership experience was good, but your professional commentary and conclusion is less than .... I really do not want to say out of respect. When paying more than 50K for trucks, it seems reliability is #1 to me. Bells and whistles, sun roofs, 10" screens and 10 speed tranny? Will these new 10 speeds hold up? I know the 5 and 6 speeds work well. I am a truck guy. I own a Chevy 4500 chassis cab and a Nissan Titan XD cummins today. I have owned F250 before. I have owned Frontiers before. My friends own Chevy HDs, RAMs, I have driven F350 7.3s for work. I am familiar with the product. Most of these new trucks have more things in common that anytime in the past. I know two things today: 1-My Chevy and its Vortec 6.0 get the job done! 2-My Titan XD Cummins and do everything Nissan says it is rated for and then some. When towing 9K or 10K trailers, I have to keep reminding myself the trailer is back there. And it is soooooo comfortable for my 58 year old fat **s. This is what every towing experience should be like. In conclusion: Just report on the product you have in front of you. Not what you think it should be compared to what others are doing. We can decide for ourselves from there. Thanks for the videos.
@Charles no Japanese build quality parts especially when it comes to motors. That's why Honda and Toyota are still more popular than any American vehicle
F-350 Guy Is perfectly ok if you like your Ford. But in that case don’t tell lies about other brands. Just say “yeah other brands are very good and some cases superior quality but I’m a proud nationalist I love my local industry and prefer to buy domestics” that’s it. It will be completely respectable and no one will argue that but say un true things about foreign brands just to justify your preference is not.
I sold a 16 F150 to buy this truck. I love everything about the Titan over the Ford. Drives smoother and is much more comfortable. I’m getting 17.3 MPG overall. My Ford got 17.7. The Titan is an incredible truck! Not perfect, but for my uses, better than the rest.
grandpa5x Pulliam They said 12.2 after having just floored in onto the HWY. if you drive it hard it’s pretty easy to get 12 in any full size truck. I can’t speak to anyone else’s MPG’s, but that’s what I’ve gotten after 4K miles on the truck.
My 2017 Titan MPG averages 17.5, does go down a little when pulling a trailer, I'm pretty sure all trucks do, 12,xxx trouble free miles it smooth & quite, deciding factor to buy was a 5 year 100K warranty, pretty sure only other manufacture to do that a couple yrs ago was dodge(didn't do very long)I ask sales guy when I look at one why they Stop, He said why do you Think🤔
Always had nissan trucks in the family. Its a great truck strong simple and reliable. Tech is great but for a workhorse you dont need it. Glad nissan and toyota understand the formula.
As a 2017 Nissan Titan thank you for review. I have no regrets about purchasing the truck I chose. You forgot to mention Nissan’s 10yr 100,000 mile warranty.
I have a 17. Engine started knocking at 28k miles. Thank you to the warranty, brand new engine was installed. Pretty well known issue for the 17/18 models
I have a 2018 Nissan Titan Texas edition, and I love the truck but I do think that the shift points does have a lag in it need to be quicker shifting, navigation system is a little disappointing as well. This is my second Titan I recommend Nissan Titans.
Larry D. Douglas Sr. I'm thinking of getting a new truck tundra I heard they have problems really like the newest ram rebel in redbut so many issues don't know when to start Chevy and GMC GM junk ram Fiat junk tundra have issues Tacoma automatic issues don't like frontier look the same should I get a raptor do you know if new 2019 raptor v6 3.5L have any major issues or should I get Titan
I had a 2005 Titan and it was bulletproof. Still was when I got my 2019. A lot of people like to talk crap on them, but everywhere I go people want to look at it and check it out. Bottom line is 100,000 mile warranty means something. The big 3 are selling more? Of course but I will take the better warranty and truck. My brother purchased a brand new 2018 Ford F150 Loaded. 3 weeks in whole truck smells like mildew from a moonroof leak. I listened to the haters all these years, and I will do it again.
kebotrans Your brother is going to have the last laugh when it comes to resale value. If Nissan is practically giving these away brand new (and they are), what do you think the resale value is going to be? Probably not great
As an owner of an 08 titan (w 252k on the clock) I can say this truck won me over (im a gm guy). Still solid and the 5.6 has plenty of grunt left. Sure, Id love a newer 2nd gen pro 4x; but I trust my titan to get me another 50k at least. Just Id love to know why truck dudes hate on/overlook this truck so much? Its modern, but simple and reliable, what the hell do you want out of a truck? Gimmicky crap the big 3 have been peddling?
Say what you will, the 5.6 V-8 on this truck is amazing. Yes not the most fuel efficient but a great engine a workhorse. Rather have a V-8 over any four or six cylinder engine.
Well people were asking for a "long term" review of a Truck and you guys gave it to them in TFL fashion. I like the truck especially in that yellow color (the only truck that I do like in yellow, not the BIG BIRD Ram), yes it is somewhat behind in tech than the domestic, same goes for the Tundra, but it is a solid reliable truck that can do what you need it to unless you want to tow more than 8k. Great Long Term Buddy review guys, thanks for sharing.
I bought my nissan xd 2018 with 12 k miles for 28500. Awesome truck. So smooth (mine is gasoline). Loaded 2500 lbs on back of it and didn't even notice.. the only thing that stink, and it is big, 15 mpg city, 18 highway. If you drive 60 mph iy is possible to get it all the way to 22 mpg
It's so dated ???? Hell the Nissan interior alone is 2 model years ahead of the 19 Chevy Silverado in refinement !!! Sorry I disagree I think the Titan is a solid buy it !!!
Look at a f150 interior and compare it to the titan... I drive both... The ford is minimalistic and clean with a large screen and few buttons, it looks appealing... The nissans have small screens, outdated amber interior lights, tons of buttons (theres a separate button for each radio input in the nissan, like 8 butttons, whereas ford is controlled thru the screen) and buttons are in random and odd places... All in all the nissan interiors aren't well thought out and look cheap... Theres a reason nissan has earned the title as the poor man's toyota
Jason R Yea I agree, not a fan of the Titan. It looks like an F150 on the outside but not as good. The interior doesn’t compare to the f150 imo. I drive a Tacoma so I’m not bias here just my opinion.
2018 Nissan Titan -30 K under 29K. The value is so far above the other big trucks, you just cant beat it. We live in a world where you have to be realistic and less spoiled with all the extras. I think this truck with this motor is a steal.
I love my 2017 Titan I bought mine with 40k miles and it was still cheaper than any Chevy I looked at. 2015 Silverado with 75k miles and a v6 was the same price??? Nissan is definitely under the radar on a well built truck and they have no where near the problems as the other trucks. Titans are just as good as the rest and alot cheaper anyone looking in a full-size truck this is well worth looking at and just putting cold air intake can increase mpg. Mine went from 16.4-17.5 to 18.7-20.3 with just k&n.
I picked a Titan to. Its pound for pound best. it will outlast and probably go over a million miles, no nonsense v8 truck that can be worked on. Collector trucks for sure.
I had a 2017 early build that gave me alot if trouble. Early builds do this and I should have known better. Just traded it in on a 2019 Prox4.. exact same truck and colour. After 3 years of production all the kinks are worked out on the assemlby line. My 19 is so much better then the 17. No dash rattles..coolant smells and the heated seats auctually work great now. The GPs is updated and way better then the 17 and 18 system they show here. The 19 is a great truck and is very underated.
Bought a 2019 end of last year - only reason is its the only truck I could get with 100k warranty -- first foreign truck I've owned.....but I use it for traveling Houston to new Orleans. I have a "fun" truck also. I prefer the GMC interiors and Dodge has really stepped it up but a 15-20k difference and I couldn't get the same warranty
Mine is a basic Titan S 2017 2 door work truck, every day driver 80k km now, zero issues runs like a clock, I had a 6 year old F150 work truck before this and the Titan makes it look like a girl! No comparison, just a great rig.
I liked the review, very informative, fact based. I am looking at a 2020 Titan to replace my 2004 with 220K miles on it. My old Titan will just not die and I am not complaining. It sounds and runs as good as the first day I bought it. I haven't put a dime in the truck minus regular maintenance. Not a pitch for Nissan, really. I hate the Nissan stealerships and what they call customer service. But I will easily trade a little worse MPG and not being the first to the next stoplight for when all those turbo's wear out and Ford shows you the repair bill, that only they can fix, because you need 69 Ford tools to work on it.
Richard Wilson , I like your comment about your Titan on how it “will just not die” lol that’s funny because I feel the same way about mine , it’s a 2005 Nissan Titan 4X2 with 260k original engine and transmission, no major repairs only maintenance and few rupture lines ect... and some tear and wear from beating a work beast ... it eats up freeway miles like nothing and sounds tough , yes it’s not the fastest or newest these days but damn I swear it’s still a beast after all these years and with some nice set of tires and wheels it sits and looks just right !!!!
I had a 2005 Titan. I put an exhaust and intake and it sounded wonderful. It had plenty of power and with proper maintenance lasted. I sold it with 260K, still going strong and no loss of power. The new Titans as well as other trucks are getting too expensive for a work truck.
drphibesrises I was glad to see your comment. I’m looking for an older one to have as a 3rd vehicle/work truck. But I’ve read that some had issues with the rear axle. Did you have any problems?
@@scottvickery2057 I never had any issues with the rear axle. I did not tow anything so I was pretty easy on it. The one problem they do have is the exhaust manifolds on earlier years 2004-2009, would crack and it is an expensive repair as the exhaust manifolds and cats are one piece so make sure you check that out. If you live in another state besides CA there are many aftermarket replacements that are less expensive, but CA you have to buy OEM parts from the dealer to comply with state laws.
People really hate on any non American truck. The big three are good but being a titan owner, not only do they age well, they end up in the shop way less
Hey TFL guys, I really love the channel and all the real world reviews you do. I actually traded my frontier and bought a new 2018 titan based on these videos. Thank you and keep up the awesome channel .
There is alot of unreal view points in this review, I owned a ram 2014 / 2500 diesel- I got rid of it because It broke and was in the shop 8 times in 1 year and it cost more ... My 2016 titan prox4 has been a great truck I'm at 61,000 miles .. great engine and realiable at great value .... domestic brands wear more makeup but are trash . For real owners that keep there vehicles and put 100,000 miles plus TITAN is great truck and is a off road beast
Yep, my 04 with 220K miles on it, pulls a 18 foot dump trailer to the top of the landfill (crap mountain) once a week. Rain or shine, all four wheels spinning for over a mile, and passing Fords with the hoods up all the way to the top. I haven't put a dime in the truck but change the fluids when the manual says.
I have the Midnight Edition SV and I agree that the Nav system is disappointing. However, the truck is comfortable and quiet., sounds and looks awesome, and has lots of power.
I recently bought a used 16' Titan XD SL 4X4 with the 5.6L gas engine. I needed a daily driver that could tow a horse trailer and it works fine for that. So far, I love this little truck except for the MPG. Though I wish I had the heated steering wheel, rear locker, and goose neck wiring port in the bed like the one you tested.
I have a 2018 Titan sv 4x4, I shopped the big 3 before I bought the Titan. Not only did I get the truck about $4,000 cheaper than the cheapest big 3 it’s warranty blows them out of the water. It’s an awesome truck, yes it’s not as tech advanced as the others but it does everything you need it to and does it well. Great truck, very underrated.
I own a platinum reserve 2017. Owned a platinum tundra 2014 before. No real difference in these two trucks. Both well built. Both have great engines. Titan is definitely a quicker truck.
Id buy it... Cause i hate sunroofs but love leather seating.... I like V8 power without start stop (hate start stop) ....its simple....texhnology can be added aftermarket, as for fuel millage ... Its controlled by your foot ....or can be tweaked by a performance programmer. Also, the 7 speed.... Cheaper to fix when it does go. For a full size truck ...small truck pricing with a full size body. Plus, theres no aluminum panels. No blinspot or lane assist, no problem....less stuff to go wrong. check it manually!!. The column shifter i can live with it although id prefer a console shifter. Id buy that. Even if as a used truck. Just not in yellow :) My other choice, is the Tundra.....id buy it....comming from a guy who love to get basic 4 door trucks...in 2WD when possible too ....am in Canada btw :)
As I type we are getting hit with a big snowstorm that’s hit us off and on for the past few days. I took my titan out to a mountain road and the thing was a tank in the snow. No issues. I took it up a path that only ATVs were crossing and it did fine. You get a solid truck for your money.
Good value? While the high end "big 3" are much more expensive you don't need to buy those to be a good competitor. It's outdated and bleh looks good but don't know why you'd buy it over anything else
You guys are doing the Navigation part all wrong. you have to wait for the system to go through it's programmed menus then you talk to it. Remember it isn't a smartphone. It's a cruder OS.
Titans do sound fantastic. Add some Flowmaster or Magnaflow (I’ve had both) to really get the sound a notch or two above the others. I have a pair of Flowmaster 40 series now and they are aggressive without being too aggressive and have none of that gross rasp so many seem to have now.
I am in Love with the New Nissan Titan. It in my opinion is the best truck for the money... That being said, this truck was dated the moment it hit floors. This truck needs a duel Turbo, 10 speed Transmission, wider wheel flairs, larger info screen... You know.... THE WARRIOR....
I think Nissan wanted to make a truck with good bones to build upon year down the road. But they need to hurry up and do a refresh with pano moon roof and info stack.
Newer trucks are more like a Man Sedan, not a utility vehicle. People are convinced that they need a truck when they never use even a fraction of its abilities--a Honda Accord would be a much better choice for most truck buyers and costs half as much! I care more about interior materials that are going to last rather than soft-touch materials (how do you even need that in a truck?) and more about reliability than fuel economy or how many gears the transmission has.
Maddog8148 idk man, my wife’s 2012 Altima just got towed into the shop over the weekend because the CVT transmission is failing. It only has a little over 60k miles, whereas my 06 F150 has 250k with very little issues.
My sister in law sold her F-150 with 280k miles on it to buy a Titan, both have been good trucks for getting her horse and gear around. And she doesn't take particularly good care of vehicles, but brand loyalty is not all there is to buying a truck.
Buknoy Harabas LoL did I hurt your feelings? Look man, do your research and you’ll find that there’s a ton of people who have issues with the CVT in the newer Altimas. I don’t need to justify anything to a 14 year old who doesn’t know shit about the real world. Your “stupid” buddy’s First gen (1990’s) Altima does NOT have a CVT. It has an old school automatic. So do some research before talking out of your ass.
Damn, stock exhaust? That Endurance makes an exhaust note that most people spend $$ aftermarket for! The interior is an anachronism to the exterior, though.
Just bought a 2023 pro4x first time pickup owner and i am loving this truck and i think its definitely not outdated plan to have this truck 5 plus years hopefully i get a good run with it ..hope i made a choice.👍
Nissan’s heated steering wheel button never has been on the wheel it’s usually below the head light controls on the left hand side, The touch screen needs to be larger yes Sunroof I’ve never used mine on my Acura TL don’t need one One engine option, these don’t sell as much as an F150, or Silverado so it would be easier to find the truck you want I think it could use blind spot And those who think it looks like an F150, the headlights look more like a RAM’s and the grill is generic and could look like a lot of things
Engine sound is obsolete since nowadays that can and is often produced through the sound system. You can synthesize whatever sound you want. One more thing, open the iris or add some light. You can't see anything but black in the interior.
i think its the automotive press thats pushing so hard for more technology... every construction job site i work at only about one in ten guys wants or uses the tech and would rather have crank up windows that a giant screen or wifi hot spot...and those tech guys all have a smart phone so its all useless to them too
Im i. Construction as well, and agree w you w the exception of rear camera (trailer hookuos) and bluetooth phone performance is extremely important in construction.
Excuse my bad English. I’m from Quebec Canada, they change the entire motor of my 2017 Titan sv next week. Engine start knocking at only 17000 kilometres. The truck never work hard or be abused. Almost all 5,6 have to be remplace around here in Quebec or Canada or northern USA. Maybe the cold winter is a factor... or not. Very disappointing. Nissan Canada only send short block since end of April.
I have to admit, you guys need to chill, pipe your voices down and let one person do the talking for the navigation testing. You guys are over talking each other and making the voice assistant have trouble making out the voice commands. Like I get that voice command systems are very lengthy and not as advanced as such as Siri or like Alexa, but voice commands systems in general can’t read voices when there’s more background noises around. Like Try using Siri in a NYC Times Square. You guys have been really having trouble to get these vehicle’s command systems to work except that Infiniti which passed. It just seems to me like you guys try to rush this process as well since you guys are quickly coming to the bumpy section test. This furthers complicates the system to read your voice, because you guys are more likely to slur your words and say quick rap lines that the system can’t pick out, making the vehicles fail even more. And then you guys also do your typical lines and humour when the system is activated to read your commands, but since it doesn’t recognize your humour or vehicle review comments as commands, it just does it typical “please say a valid command, blah blah blah,” which makes you guys think it fails and unresponsive and therefore you guys would rush to quit the system and therefore fails the test. I’ll be honest, I don’t think this test is very necessary if you guys can’t do it properly. Might as well scrap this test.
I ended up buying the pro4x out the door with all the options for $39,500, I wanted the Ford but with the same options it was $54,000. I just couldn't do it
mine has been in the shop for the AC 3 times. New drivers seat. Head gasket, turbo..and a few other things i cannot remember right now. The fuel filters are expensive. The oil changes are expensive. The fuel mileage is about 13 ( i have a leveling kit with 33" tires.) My 2017 super duty has no problems. 17 mpg (4" lift with 37s) power between the two obviously isn't even comparable. The cummins is lethargic coming off lights compared to the powerstroke. Cab layout isnt even in the same world as the super duty. 10k difference price. thats why Titan XD cummins is going away...My opinion
Quite possibly, this is the best truck that you are never going to purchase. I have seriously considered the Titan when they were released in 2003, again in 2009 and then in 2018. Each time, this truck had some of the best features, but dealing with the local Nissan dealers can be more frustrating than talking to a Jeep dealer when they see mud on the undercarriage of a Wrangler during a warranty repair of a blown lightbulb. I love this truck and all the feature were right for my life, but the manufacturers ways of business just do not match up with the lifestyle of most truck purchasers.
I bought a 2004 Titan in Feb 2004. I have 150K on it. I had the original brakes rebuilt @ 135k, no problems on brakes until they got too thin. I did have the typical manifold cracks@ about 80k. The truck drives well and is very comfortable. What I like best has been the service departments of the half dozen dealerships that have their hands on it. They have all been great both in fixing problems and in treating me with respect. If I'm doing a new vehicle and Nissan has something that fits my needs, I'd give them a 1st crack at a sales.
Build the WARRIOR! Love my Titan XD, it’s big and bulky, tows with no issue, best warranty in class, super comfortable seats and ride, awesome dependability. Couple things that Nissan needs to improve on, add the sunroof, update the info centre( bigger screen) need more USB ports ( cut back on 12v ports) Overall I wouldn’t trade my Titan XD for any other truck and would 100% buy a warrior if they decide to build it.
I've seen the majority of these around the suburbs as a daily driver and pulling a boat/camper or a single axle utility trailer. So the truck seems to fit in perfectly for the people who buy it.
Damn, I’m not a huge fan of the Titan. But oh boy does that exhaust sound amazing. Especially compared to the new American trucks which are muted compared to the older ones.
Spence 56 I know, I saw the video. But he did modify it, otherwise it’s pretty muted. I remember my dad’s 2004 Ram 1500, it was a brute. The exhaust note was raw and vicious. Unlike the new Ram.
I'm sorry my rear seat passages comfort is not high on my list of things I look for in my truck. Capabilities, efficiency, and reliability are what top my list. Oh and the way it sounds clicks a primal switch in the brain that gives you a "Home Improvement" man grunt reflex.
I was trying to make a decision between the Titan and the Tundra. I went with the Tundra because of its long years of reliability, more power and torque and resale value.
I know you are right, And I just got owned but: you do realize that was years and years ago and that issues was fixed by toyota. Coming from somebody that owned three Nissan's they are absolutely unreliable piece of crap
I know you are right, And I just got owned but: I'm calling bullshit I have a raptor and a 2017 TRD not one issue after a year-and-a-half of ownership. You seem like the typical troll. The only spot of rust you could possibly get is from the AC drain and there's a simple $5 mod fix by extending the drain hose
All I can say is my brother in law got a Ram 1500 his son got a ford ecoboost and the other got the chevy Silverado I as you all know sold my Ridgeline 07 with 155,000 for a Toyota Tundra 4x4 SR5 Crewmax. I can say at this point I'm having no problems but the Ram is having water pump problems and the ford is having turbo problems. The Chevy is having transmission issues. I agree that all the trucks but mine get great gas mileage and do have a few more bells or whistles but at the end of the day when I'm on the road towing my camper the bells and whistles isn't what I'm looking for. I need the engine and trans to get me from point A to point B safely and no headaches. I always say if it ain't broke don't fix it but we do have people that have to have the biggest the newest with the most bells and whistles out there but with this comes more problems.
They've renewed my interest in it. The looks are good. Price is a big factor and it is good but I have seen over-pricing stickers on Nissan's locally. I think I'll check out truecar on it. The nav system is no big deal. The audio was not tested.
The one thing about these videos that bothers me is the testing of the voice command feature, and I've seen the following occur in a few trucks now. If you don't follow the supplied prompts, how can you expect it to work? It told you to say a choice from a list that included "Points of Interest." If you had said "Points of Interest," you might have gotten somewhere, but instead, you disregarded those completely and said "Navigate to Snarf's," something it's not programmed to recognize at all. Impressively, the Titan still displayed a list of POIs after hearing that, so this one actually worked especially WELL in that regard. No, none of these voice command programmings are close to Siri or Alexa, but they don't claim to be, so to talk to it like it's Alexa and then proclaim it to not work well enough is illogical. Following its prompts and having a little patience (like letting it finish sentences and lists) would probably go a long way. I get that you wish it would recognize normal speech like Alexa, but it doesn't, and doesn't claim to, so it isn't fair to the truck to penalize it for not doing so.
As a huge ford guy I will say this.... I find myself shaking my head when when manufacturers start listing off new computer controlled driver aids they added to their already LONG list of things that no one really thought they needed. I like leather seats, woodgrain, powerful sound systems, dual zone climate control and quiet cabs but why do I have to opt for $15,000 dollars worth of sensors to get a nice classy interior. When I first saw the titan I thought it was kinda ugly but I find myself wanting one because of its "old school" bones and its really nice well built yet plain interior.
With the difference in rebate money and dealer/brand willingness to deal, msrp is a moot point. Fords u can usually get 8.5k to 12k discount off msrp, tundra not so much, nissan making sweet deal to knock down inventory. Ram makes crazy deals too.
Yep....there is a trans tune update. Originally the trans feels a little sluggish when shifting. After the tune update it shifts firmer and holds the gear slightly longer. WaY better after the update.
Our family has had many Nissans and virtually no problems. Maybe my only complaint is that tires and brakes don't last as long as I'd expect (both maybe 35k miles). I was hot to get a Titan XD when they came out and a test drive soured me on that instantly. I've been thinking about what my next truck would be. Maybe this is the one. I bought a Powerstroke F-250 after looking at the XD. It's awesome and cheaper than the XD. I'm not sure I'll need a diesel next time around.
You guys do an amazing job - one comment to make would be if you also spend time with the sound system. e.g. number of speakers, brand, sound quality, etc. et al. Thank you..
I love my XD Pro4x. It's a great truck. Is it as fancy as the others? No, but its perfect for people that actually use a pickup for they are made to do. Not just go to Starbucks.
I had a 2017, (5.6 gas)sv, kinda low trim . Truck was great we put about 35kmiles before totalling it last month...titan will be missed. Definately would consider buying another, but maybe a 5.0 cummins this time We averaged 19mpg combined
I agree with all of your points of view. But if you're an average joe looking for something dependable and good value and may tow a couple thousand here and there this is pretty decent. Gas may be a bit rough but just all that your getting makes it attractive. This would be a well equipped lower tier half ton and that's saying a lot now. These trucks can tow damn near anything nowadays even the lower tier trucks.
Honestly, I love that there's no sun roof on the Titan Pro 4X...one less thing to leak...
Yeah and really how often do you use a sunroof!
@@scott8238 Damn near every day in the summer in CO. My wife's car has one. I wish this did, but not a make or break feature!
Fully agree. Indeed, sunroof for a truck is like off road tyres for a mini cooper.... really no needed

Absolutely the best truck on the market in my opinion and the best warranty on any vehicle 100k bumper to bumper
Awesome man, I bought a Titan 2017 sv 4x4 texas edition and I love it.
Categories like:
fuel economy: you read the gauge at 12.x on the display.
"the steak could have been bigger, the veggies needed more butter, ...."
just say it was good!
I know two things today:
1-My Chevy and its Vortec 6.0 get the job done!
So could you crap on a truck more? Its a great truck and a value in the market.
My nissan titan 2018 pro4x gets 15.6

NISSAN titan lover here!

I keep seeing Texas edition. What is this?
I don’t much care for too much technology. Too many things to go wrong. I would definitely consider a Titan
Gimmicky crap the big 3 have been peddling?
they want country songs sang about them, thats it
Say what you will, the 5.6 V-8 on this truck is amazing.
Great Long Term Buddy review guys, thanks for sharing.
fewer engine options is good... it lowers parts cost due to less types needing to be stocked....
JACKSONLEWISOFCANADA That’s going to help you save money when your Titan inevitably shits the bed.
Best full size truck on the market. Nissan did a fantastic job designing this truck.
SCOTT M It’s a great looking truck. The type of beauty only a mother could love.

Jason R that hasn't ever been the title lol

The Nissan sounds like an AMG Mercedes V8. Delicious
Capt. Scarlet! That’s cool.
I love my 2018 titan....Pro 4 X...best truck I ever owned...I had them all....this is a great truck....American Made.....
Thank you for testing the titan pro 4x. I have enjoyed your videos. I love my pro 4x. I was the person that met you guys in Moab.
The track in the bed, i think its called utili trac and its very handy

I want that V8 in my Frontier.
I have the Midnight Edition SV and I agree that the Nav system is disappointing. However, the truck is comfortable and quiet., sounds and looks awesome, and has lots of power.
PaPa Steve Nissan has some of the worse Navigation systems. I have no idea why.
They have replaced it.
A quicker truck compared to?
I’m getting mine this Saturday, was a frontier driver for years. I’m excited!
How have you liked it?
'In the hyper-competitive truck market this is already dated'. I agree.
Unless Nissan is making a huge profit on these things they might not be around much longer.
As I type we are getting hit with a big snowstorm that’s hit us off and on for the past few days. I took my titan out to a mountain road and the thing was a tank in the snow. No issues. I took it up a path that only ATVs were crossing and it did fine. You get a solid truck for your money.
Great overall review.

Got a 2017 Titan SL CC 4x4 and love it.
Who actually uses a sunroof 8n a truck anyway?
Newer trucks are more like a Man Sedan, not a utility vehicle. People are convinced that they need a truck when they never use even a fraction of its abilities--a Honda Accord would be a much better choice for most truck buyers and costs half as much! I care more about interior materials that are going to last rather than soft-touch materials (how do you even need that in a truck?) and more about reliability than fuel economy or how many gears the transmission has.

And those who think it looks like an F150, the headlights look more like a RAM’s and the grill is generic and could look like a lot of things
Engine sound is obsolete since nowadays that can and is often produced through the sound system. You can synthesize whatever sound you want. One more thing, open the iris or add some light. You can't see anything but black in the interior.

I would never know its offload worthy or sounds good because I would never past yellow. It's not a colour you paint a truck.
I'd have to agree. The biggest flaw in their voice command "testing" are the users themselves, not the navigation system.
This compares with the trail boss, but it has a real locker, better shocks, and a higher lift than a non-pro4x.
On the side note the bed lighting on the nissan is by far better the the other trucks and the sound system
I ended up buying the pro4x out the door with all the options for $39,500, I wanted the Ford but with the same options it was $54,000. I just couldn't do it
Just got my 2020 for the same reason
mine has been in the shop for the AC 3 times.
Cool gadgets and tech packages will not get you off the side of the road. I'm tired of the pruis guy reviews when it comes to trucks...
Love you guys bringing back the buy it, lease it, and forget it back again
Couple things that Nissan needs to improve on, add the sunroof, update the info centre( bigger screen) need more USB ports ( cut back on 12v ports)
Overall I wouldn’t trade my Titan XD for any other truck and would 100% buy a warrior if they decide to build it.
I get 17 mpg on my Mustang gt
My last titan went to 450,000km
Sold it a year ago and I miss it
Definitely looking at the newer one shortly
I've seen the majority of these around the suburbs as a daily driver and pulling a boat/camper or a single axle utility trailer. So the truck seems to fit in perfectly for the people who buy it.
Hit the nail on the head. I bought mine as a DD and to tow a boat and travel trailer.
Damn, I’m not a huge fan of the Titan. But oh boy does that exhaust sound amazing. Especially compared to the new American trucks which are muted compared to the older ones.
I forget what TH-camr did it but he had the exhaust on the new ram modified and it sounded amazing. You should look it up. New ram as in the 2019 ram.
@@spence5627 Any V8 sounds good if you modify the exhaust. The Titan has the best factory sound.
Well when ever they update the titan they will probably mute the exhaust on it. Rams used to be the best until the update. Factory that is.
yeah it sound like a stool fart compared to a real truck!
I know you are right, And I just got owned but: amazing username LOL
I know you are right, And I just got owned but: I'm calling bullshit I have a raptor and a 2017 TRD not one issue after a year-and-a-half of ownership. You seem like the typical troll. The only spot of rust you could possibly get is from the AC drain and there's a simple $5 mod fix by extending the drain hose
Did you mean the Tundra has less power and a hair more TQ?
Excellent video. I too like these unfiltered reviews very much. Great work boys and girls at TFL!
That's what I like about the truck, my interior is nice and simple.
You guys never talked about customer service and reliability of the vehicles
With the difference in rebate money and dealer/brand willingness to deal, msrp is a moot point. Fords u can usually get 8.5k to 12k discount off msrp, tundra not so much, nissan making sweet deal to knock down inventory. Ram makes crazy deals too.
Roman complaining that it looked like Nissan threw a bunch of Nissan parts in the interior. What does he want Nissan to put in there? Ford parts? 🤔
You guys should look up the recalls for your Titan I think they can adjust the transmission for you
Yep....there is a trans tune update.
Great review.
Y'all are a riot.
Roman needs to chill a bit. One good power plant is all you need. You guys need to try the 2020 refreshed Titan.
I think the 4 : 30 axle ratio is the steepest I've seen for half-tons on TFL. Certainly, that's a hit to to fuel economy.
That Titan had a 2.94
A 4.30 rear end doesnt mean anything when trans ratios dont help it
Good review. Where's Nathan been lately? We'll miss "Big Yeller." :)
Sick at home with Bronchitis
aahh! Very sorry to hear that! Get Well Soon, Nathan! :)
That navigation system is like interacting with the cable tv companies automated support line.
I had a 2017, (5.6 gas)sv, kinda low trim . Truck was great we put about 35kmiles before totalling it last month...titan will be missed. Definately would consider buying another, but maybe a 5.0 cummins this time
We averaged 19mpg combined
I didn’t think the MPG was that bad when I drove one for a road trip. 18-19mpg. Not amazing better than what I was expecting.
John Sotomayor that's terrible! My Silverado AVERAGEs 23.2 at 76 MPG with the AC on!
