    23:10 you give the best advice I think. And it’s something I do with every painting, especially when I feel stuck or overwhelmed by a section im working on. The stop and step away and look at it later on or at a different distance or angle I usually am able to see past what ever was holding me back cuz I wasn’t seeing the whole picture and just focusing on a tiny part👍🏼👌🏼🙏🏽🤙🏼 great video all together tho I constantly come back to this video as a refresher or confidence boost before I start painting

    Now that is art Mark. A piece that gets your soul and would be proud to hang on a wall. All we tend to see with the airbrush is skulls, flames or tattoo art. Good for gas tanks and T shirts and there is a place for that.

    Beautiful work! Your Princesse de Broglie was a masterpiece, but I'm in love with this advanced landscape. Thank you for your time, effort, and patience. You are the only person I've found on TH-cam who recreates the classic masters with an airbrush while teaching art history at the same time (and for free too). You are an excellent instructor and could be the next Bob Ross of airbrushed landscapes, one cloud at a time. Looking forward to seeing you finish these Almighty mountains. 👍

    Thankyou for sharing how you go about painting. I especially appreciated you saying how long you took to paint it.(50+ hours).It really made me slow down and improves my painting so much more, instead of trying to rush through to the end.
    Again....thankyou

      Thanks Dave. I know it looks like I'm rushing through these with the video edits and cuts, but I really take my time. Slowing down is so sooo important.

    this is so inspiring... 🤗😍
    Can someone try with structural mass or Marble dust to model parts of the mountains? I suspect that this makes a few effects easier and better. 🤔😋

      that is such a cool idea- like a sculpture within the painting! Not something that I can do but I think it would be awesome

    great videos. Thanks. I have a question. Is it possible to paint oil paintings with an airbrush where the main medium is linseed oil? The pigment should be very transparent to have the right viscosity. What parameters should the airbrush and compressor have for this type of work? thanks a lot

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't spray oil paints through an airbrush ever. So many dangerous pigments in many oil paints. ONLY use airbrush paint- very important.

    Have you ever painted over black gesso and can you make a video ???

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I rarely paint on a black surface with an airbrush, just because I'm mainly using a subtractive technique for highlights. The fire painting I did on the channel a few weeks back was on a black surface. It was gessoed and painted black before I started airbrushing on it.

    Love this video! This is helping prep for a commission and had questions where to start. I was wondering though, in terms if prepping the canvas or surface your painting, how do you transfer or draw on the landscape template? And also, how to do you get the tracing paper to match the shapes of the landscape template?

    • @davidhuerta6703
      @davidhuerta6703 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like do you project it? Or hand draw via the grid you showed in the beginning of the video?

  • @FilmFactry
    @FilmFactry 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you "hand" erase right away, or do you wait for the paint to dry or set a bit?

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually wait about a minute or so. If the paint is still wet it tends to smear rather than erase.

    Hi, can I ask where you’re finding your ink erasers? I can’t seem to locate them anywhere…

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      of course! I use Staedtler mars rasor erasers and Faber-Castell 7058b in erasers. I usually just buy them on Amazon but they are sold at most art supply stores as well.

      @@theartworkshop Cool. I'm feeling the need for a new piece. I have plenty, but you know there's always room for more. I'm thinking a Sotar or a PS771. Probably the latter, since I don't currently own a Micron. My oldest brush that I still use is an old school HP-C. That thing is still the most reliable workhorse in my arsenal, after being with me over 20 years.

    Is their a cheaper gun that would be able to do the same thing? sub 100$

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      tons of options! one of my favorite detail airbrushes is the badger sotar 20/20. I actually just bought another one a few days ago for like $80. Creos also makes some very good detail brushes like the PS-270 which has a .2. Their ps-771 is a bit more expensive but one of my favorite detail airbrushes out today.
