- Today I'm going to talk about the 5 things I don't buy at Bath & Body Works and what I buy instead! Since being an employee there for 6 years, I've learned not to spend my money on these products.

I would add the bars of soap to this list. They dry my skin out and leave that weird rubbery feeling afterwards.

I think the soaps are quite nice. They lather well and don't leave my skin dry at all.
I haven't used bar soap in like 30 years lol and I am not starting now 😬
I *KNEW* that you were going to say body scrubs, and I'm with you. At least for me, after using Tree Hut, any other brand pales in comparison. 😀

I’m with you on these! I got into Wallflowers a few years ago and they only smell for a few days and then it’s just nothing. So weird. I don’t bother with the candle holders etc bc they are clutter to me. I like things I can use up.
Agreed, there have been a handful of wallflower scents that I find perform better than the rest, but a solid product shouldn't have that kind of inconsistency. Also agreed on the candle/soap accessories! I remember when they changed the shape of the hand soaps and everyone's hand soap sleeves were no longer usable! I don't want to be a part of something like that too, which I forgot to mention. 😅
@@MelissaC Thank you for mentioning this. I normally ignored the sleeves but the matching glitzy bling sleeve got my rewards attention. I also bought the purple and green glass glass pedestal. Because there are plants and the color purple is always sprinkled in my house. I am grateful for your video and will keep that in mind. I have used rewards for fancy seasonless wall plugs and car plugs. I was thinking that they are better and cheaper than candle cause the scent last longer. You can’t burn a candle for too long and you need to baby it for safety.
Yes I agree … when the candle jar is pretty, why waste $ on a holder , too much clutter
Candles get super hot towards the end of candle so I find holders a necessity to protect furniture and hands.
My mom and the rest of my family is allergic to a lot so we only buy a few scents. We use their wallflowers, all the cinnamon apple, twisted peppermint, crushed candy cane, peach Bellini, frosted cranberry, and sun washed citrus (I think that's it) last quite a while

The one thing I never buy a bath & body works is those car air fresheners that clip on the visor because they literally have no scent it all once you put them up.
Oh yeah, that one probably could have made my list as well! I do have one in the car, but I hardly ever notice them unless if it's really hot outside!

I used Wallflowers for years then stopped because they was leaving streaks up my walls, plus after a week or so they lost most of the throw. Plus, once I stopped I noticed I wasn’t feeling so congested and read they could be toxic for pets

Thanks for sharing Melissa! I love how you provided alternatives for the products and where you buy them. I agree 100% I will buy the bath fizzy when they are 75% off. But I do think the bath bombs at lush are better for your money 😊I do really like the scrubs at bath and body works for the most part. I do love tree hut and onyx bath house scrubs in combination with the bath and body works scrubs! I have one or 2 sand scrubs left and I’m ready for them to be gone. They make a mess!!

Hi Melissa! Same here, Bath and Body Works candles are just too pretty to cover up with a holder. And, I like Lush bath bombs as well. Especially their holiday collections ❤
Agreed! The pretty packaging is part of what gets me wanting to buy them all! 😂 Lush always has such fun goodies!
I only buy candles, wallflowers and hand sanitizer. The first few days are really potent to me to the point I'll actually take them out for a few hours at a time. Learning the 3 wick candles burn the same duration as a single wick was revolutionary to me. I'd rather buy single wicks unless there is a scent I want that only comes in 3 wick. I agree with you on never paying for full price!!!
That's a good point, I always smell the wallflowers really strong in the first few days. I've actually tried unplugging them to give them a rest after I notice that I don't smell them as strong anymore. I've found some success in doing that because then when I plug them back in, I sometimes can smell it again. It's like it gives it a fresh start or something, haha! Yeah, the single wicks are actually nice for that reason. I find I prioritize single wicks for smaller rooms because the throw doesn't always go as far as a three wick. But I love and use both!

The safety of wallflowers for pets also concerned me enough to give away all of my oils. I love them far more than scented stufd. I do occasionally like to get the fancy light up plugs to use strictly as fun night lights.
I agree with you! And very true, I love having/using them as nightlights in my bathroom, especially a cute one! 🥰

Me too, that's another big reason why I never buy the candle holders and soap sleeves because I wouldn't want to cover up the beautiful designs and images on the products. I won't lie, some of them can definitely be pretty and if I had more money I would probably only buy them on sale. When they're full price it's just a money grab IMO.

For me personally i can add to this list the sanitizers and their holders
I do use a lot of hand sanitizers, but I don't buy myself the fancy holders either. They end up in employee MOS (marked out of stock, product to be discontinued) so often that any that I own I got for free back from when I was working there. 😊

Everything you listed is what I don't buy at BBW. I'm going to add the body sprays - they have been very disappointing scent longevity wise plus they keep going up in price. I have some of the body sprays from the early 2000's that still smell good, have great staying power and was only $10.50/bottle. The only items I buy nowadays when I have a coupon or during SAS are the hand santizers, pocket bac holders, hand soaps, shower gels, 3 wick candles, wallflower refills and the car scent refills. No lotions, but I will get them w hen they are free with a coupon.
I've been hearing multiple people say they aren't happy with the recent sprays performance. I have some oldies as well, more for collecting than using at this point, and I do find them to be in really good quality even after all these years! Thanks for watching! 😊

I only buy candle holders or soap holders for 75% off at sas. It’s been my thing for the last few sas’s that I will pick up a candle holder. It’s been fun collecting them 😊 also I get nose blind to wallflowers. I notice if I’m gone for the weekend and when I come back home they smell super strong again lol so I still buy them so guests can still smell them when they come to my home.
I don't blame you, if I were to buy them I'd definitely take advantage when they are on sale! I have a Halloween "snow" globe one from a few years back that I either got 75% off or at an employee MOS sale, and I do enjoy bringing it out every October to enjoy! I've heard that feedback too, that it's just to our own nose that we don't notice the scent anymore and guests come in and are like "It smells really good in here!" At least that! 🥰

Loofah is a natural sponge. The artificial mesh variety is a shower poof.
Their candle holders are too pricey . And most look clunky and cheap . I find the wallflowers too strong . Great video !
Yeah, I've seen some cute ones over the years but they definitely aren't normally my style!
I have a bucket full of wallflower bulbs that I bought during winter 2019 SAS. I also have 10 2-packs that I bought from a BBW outlet store in early 2018 (they were "hidden" in a cabinet in my garage). Once I'm done with these, no more. I prefer the candles.
🤣candles are worse than the wallflowers. You get the black soot from those. I only burn candles once in awhile… my home smells Absolutely Amazing with my wallflowers.
I prefer candles, too! I've had much better luck consistency-wise with the candles and I think they're fun for cozy ambiance too! I'm working through my already purchased bulbs too and while I'm not saying I'll never use them again, I definitely plan on cutting back too!
I used to use Yankee candles way before Bath & Body Works ones and they were much worse with soot! 😫 I've had better luck with the BBW candles at least! That's good your wallflowers work well for you, my sister lives in an apartment and the wallflowers work great for her too! I'm just glad BBW has options so everyone can enjoy different forms of fragrance! 🤩
I will not Ever buy any of their new nail polishes, laundry detergent, facial skin care, or hair care. I don't have anything against it, necessarily, but it's just Not what I look to B&BW for, ya know? One thing I wish they Would do more often is have more options for travel size products, especially shower gel. Even when they have a new seasonal scent mini mist and cream, they rarely have a corresponding shower gel.
I know exactly what you mean. I think it's fun to have novelty items, but there are just some things that seem off brand for them. Like the whole Moxy line for instance is a no from me! I'm open the laundry products if they are good and well priced but so far I'm not as excited as I hoped to be about the preview of laundry for this Fall.
Absolutely agree on the travel sizes! It used to be that each fragrance would always have a travel size in the shower gel, fine fragrance mist, body lotion, AND body cream! Now it seems rare if they ever have a scent in at least the three main forms! Drives me nuts! 🤪
The laundry detergent sucks. I tried a few of the samples and my clothes didn't even smell clean.
If I get the body poufs, I do that Black Friday week, buy 3 get 3 plus 20% off so super cheap. I buy enough for a year. They come out to $1.80 each.

I love syrawberry poundcake wallflowers.However I am concerned about chemicals. I dont care to burn the candles BUT I bought the candlewarmimg lamp that went viral. Amazing! 30$. I also bought the 5.99 candle warmer from Michaels. Works well with single wick.
I use some B&BW candles but my fave home fragrance is Scentsy.
I prefer wax melts over candles.
I've never purchased a Wallfower or plug either.
I've also never purchased a bath loofah or mesh ball.
I'm huge on their body care products though.

I completely agree! But I do have one candle holder only because it's a pedestal so the candle is up a little higher so my kids can't reach it, but it's the only Bath & Body Works candle holder I have though. And I do buy wallflower plugs occasionally though just for Halloween and Christmas decor for my kids and I don't buy wallflower bulbs much, only during sales
For sure, I don't blame people for using or wanting to buy the candle pedestals and holders. I've seen some really pretty ones and I think the seasonal ones are fun for the holidays! That's nice you use yours for safety purposes as well!

But honestly if I didn't have kids then I wouldn't have them because I'd just use the plain ones and only buy them when they stop working and I also wouldn't have any candle holders at all either then
Pocketbacs as a general rule. I bbn only have 3 pocketbac holders as well. Like the spray so much better
I buy a lot less hand sanitizers at a time now that I'm too stocked up. I'm not picky when it comes to expiration dates on body care but I am with sanitizer since if it expires it won't kill germs! 😫 So now I buy a small amount at a time and gift excess ones as often as I can. I agree that the sanitizer spray is nice!

I like going to bath amd body and i get the wall scents and foam soaps. I buy them for which ever season is coming up. So christmas, fall, summer etc. Yes the scents started to all smell the same but i have come across some great scents. I am into the shampoo conditioner now i like how my hairfeels and smells after
I don't buy there scrubs except for creamy ones and not that often the sugar and sand ones are to harsh on my skin, I also don't buy there Lothas way to expensive. Thanks for sharing 😊💕

Yeah, those things can really do some damage when they get on surfaces. That's something I don't miss about working at BBW is getting the "wallflower juice" as we called it all over my hands all the time! Lol

I use to love the travel size body care, but they're so expensive now. Didn't they use to be 3/$12 & the mist were 3oz?
Oh, I could address this in my Q&A series, thanks! Yes, I remember when the travel sizes were 3/$12...those were the days lol...I remember them gradually increasing the sale price to 3/$12.50, then 3/$14, then eventually a repackage that brought a smaller size, increased ticket price, and buy 3 get 1 free instead of the other bundle sales. It wasn't a very subtle change and I know when that happened I noticed a decrease in customers wanting to buy them! 😫
I honestly never thought about replacing a loofa that often. I just assumed since you’re basically soaking it in soap constantly and hanging it to dry that it wouldn’t be a huge source of bacteria. 🤷♀️

Why do some bath and body works put out collections early while others wait until the correct date to put out ? I work there now just wondering because I watch some of these videos and people go in sometimes weeks before my store with certain collections

I wash my puffies that I use in the shower in a lingerie bag when I bleach my whites. I also spray them after every use with Clorox Cleaner and they are fine. Just a little helpful hint.

I have only bought one creamy body scrub from them and I find myself struggling to use it. I find that it dries out my skin. I also do not buy wall flowers I'm allergic to them and no bar soaps, again they are very drying

I don't keep wallplugs plugged in. I will put them in when I get visitors or when I will chill the whole day at home. When I go to work or have a busy day I put them away. My airwick ones last months like this.

The wallflowers that have been out for the past several years are junk! I live in a 1br condo and even in small spaces, the scent fades quickly. I’ve actually bought “old” wallflowers from resale sites in years past!
Oh I've wondered about that, do you find the old wallflowers are better quality? When do you feel like they went downhill...maybe alwhen they repackaged to have flat bottoms instead of pointy? Thanks for sharing! 😊
@@MelissaC Oh yeah, way better quality. The throw was really good and they lasted a long time! I used to love having Coconut & Lime Verbena in my living room during summer - I could smell it as soon as I walked through my front door ☺. But like a lot of things since 2020, quality is not the same!
I can’t stand the tubes that BBW scrubs come in. They get messy, water gets caught in the lid, and it’s hard to get all of it out, plus the ridiculous prices.
Eww that's another reason I forgot about but agreed, the water trapped in the cap is not my favorite either! 😫

10:15 I'm a sucker for the cute plug-in Wallflower things but they are getting insane at 30 and 40.00, are they kidding me! I agree that there are some that immediately have to take the scent out because it just makes us sneeze and sneeze and sneeze. I also find that it's the Wallflower plug itself that just stops working versus the scent. I just bought new scents- in the Angel plug from Jan..& nope! Barely smells😮
I agree with your list 100%. Mine is pretty much the same plus their laundry soap and shampoo/conditioner. I'm not buying those.

OT- anyone remember the long matches they sold a few years ago they were super cute and matchboxes and made it really easy to light the candles, and why do the men have body scrub deodorant shaving cream face wash face moisturizer and we just keep getting the trifecta of body wash Tama lotion and FFM😅! BBW used to have deodorant, shaving cream, powder, hair refresher mist, a kid's line, a little makeup section, dryer sheets, and a fabric spray from slatkin, I would prefer variety of products over 50 different ways to smell coconut😂

I didn't know that Bath and Body Works sells loofah's. I guess maybe only in the United States. We only have one Bath and Body Works location here in Montreal at the Eaton Centre that opened up a few years before Covid 19.
Ohh maybe Canada stores don't have loofahs? In the US, they used to have more of an importance on sponges and loofahs in stores and would make fun, seasonal ones. Now they just carry 1-3 simple colors at a time. 🤷♀️

I know I answered this on another video but just in case anyone else wants to know the answer over here, I'd advise against making your own samples from testers to take home. There may be an occasion where an employee does this for you, but I would not do it unless offered by a sales associate! Thanks for submitting your question! 🥰

Several years ago I bought three hand soap holders because I thought they were cute. And less than a year later, they totally changed the bottle shape, so those soap holders were worthless. Never again. 😒

I don't believe those two are planned to return for this upcoming Semi Annual Sale (June 3rd), unless if your in store location(s) have left overs from previous seasons in their back rooms. Still worth it to check for them just in case. As far as the classics go, I've heard that returning scents this summer are Cucumber Melon, Juniper Breeze, White Tea & Ginger, and Plumeria.
I used to buy the body scrubs, but then realize that the scrubby washcloth I use are far more exfoliating.
True, there are some really good tools out there that can get the job done! I like body scrubs for adding another layer of fragrance, and sometimes moisture. Like the Onyx Bathhouse especially I find makes my skin feel replenished with the oils it has inside besides just exfoliated. But when I just need exfoliation, washcloth works well too! ❤️
I rarely buy the hand soap or candles too expensive only on sale

I don’t like bath bombs, they smell good but it just changes the bath water, I wish the bath bomb would bubble up
Have you tried the ones from Lush that I think are called Bubble Bars? It's like a cross between a bathbomb and bubble bath. You crumble them into the running water and they dissolve like a bathbomb, but foam up like a bubble bath. I personally like those better than standard bath fizzies myself! 😊
I've been becoming disenchanted with Wallflowers the past couple years. They just don't last long enough. I love them as decor though, they're so cute! I only get them when I have a coupon or they're really on sale (75%!).

I use the wallflower plug-in empty just as a night light in my bedroom and guest bedroom it's one way to use them because they are so pretty 😍
FOR me, i won't buy the bath fizzy, candle holder or soap holders. I like to look at the differentpackaging or i won't buy the car fragrances anymore. I only smell it for a week and then nothing. I have so many to go through.
I love the Wallflowers. You become nose blind to the scent. I can't smell it, but everybody that comes over can smell it or once i leave the house and come back i can definitely smell it.
Oh yeah, I know what you mean! Right now I do happen to have a Strawberry Daiquiri wallflower in my laundry room and I can smell it very strong! Some scents just work better than others for me! 🤷♀️😅

I agree with three of your five. Lol,I do not like the bath bombs. I don’t take baths. I do not buy their bar soaps. I do not like their body scrubs. They won’t come out of the tubes like they should. Too thick to be in a tube IMHO. I love the wallflowers and many of the plugs. My home smells Amazing. I have never purchased anything from BBW at full price. I do love the loofahs. I have two favorite 3 wick candle holders in my living room and bathroom. I got both for free with rewards. Soap holders,I’ve gotten for free also. I have 4 of those. Single wick holders I have two of the same in my sunroom.

I can't justify buying the candle holders or soap holders.... the regular packaging is cute on it's own and I don't need more "stuff" I picked up the Love Always Wins body mist and shower gel this morning... I think it's a fantastic scent.

the plugs in are truly a waste of money. i thought it was only me that couldn't smell them after a few days. i would turn them upside down now an then. now i am just done with them.
I don't buy the foaming shapeable soap or whatever it's called since it's $18. I do remember back in the day when they had American Girl products and a kid's line and it was so much fun. Cute stuff variety etc. I also remember when it was more variety of products and less fragrance choices. I think they need to switch from the trifecta of wash lotion mist, and give us women back deodorant, shave cream, powder, face scrub face wash Etc even a face mask. I don't know why the men get all the goodies but I will tell you, it annoys me that the men's sale at 595 the other day included even the mini colognes. When we get a sale it's either FFM,oR,soap,Or moisturizers..

I forgot to add bar soap to this list, but I don't use them either. I find that they make my shower messy if the water hits them by accident over time, and body wash is just more fun for me to use! Second that on the wallflowers. When it's time to cash in rewards it's so hard after you've collected all the plugs and holders that qualify. I've moved to toiletries bags for my sons and the white barn boxes for wallflower holders.for my girls
Good ideas for rewards items. Sometimes I just get a full size body care, and eventually as I redeem them, I'll have a full trio of a scent just by using rewards! 😂
I would never waste my rewards on a body care item. They are on sale all the time for $5.95. I usually purchase a wallflower or soap holder/candle holder.

Same, I have one in our car but rarely switch them out because I just don't bother with them much anymore!
We have re done ALL of our body care and candles!!!!!! No parbins sulfates etc everything is healthier and better ingredients
as a 57 year old, I have shopped Bath & Body Works for many many years…. And today’s Bath & Body Works are just not worth spending the money on. However, I do have to admit that I love their body creams, but I even slowed down on those because they are too heavily fragranced for me.
Yankee Candles have better wall plug things they smell better.
I should try those, I used to use Yankee candles a long time ago but never tried their plug ins!
I dont buy the soap holderd, or a holder to cover my candle.

I don’t buy scent portables anymore. They work for like a day and than stop almost as bad as wallflowers. I have a question for your Q&A how do you feel about the management team raises getting pushed back due to a “tough quarter” this year?
I almost added scentportables to my list but, I do like snagging them at semi annual sale and use them in the summer more. I don't smell them in the winter because it's just too cold...I noticed it really needs heat to disperse any fragrance. My sister had a Watermelon Lemonade scentportable in her car for like 3 years straight, and I always smelled it when I entered the car. But then in our car, I was changing it monthly and couldn't smell them?? 🤣 I guess that Watermelon Lemonade was lucky golden egg of them all!

Bath and Bodyworks have been making money and just don’t want to pay people for their time they put in on selling their products.
What people do not realize is you have to have a clean car/home in order for the scents to be able to smell. Might sound crazy but it’s the truth!

Bath and Body works actually doesn't sell loofahs. What she is talking about are called poofs, not loofahs. Loofahs are those hard pumice things for scrubbing dead skin .
Luffas are actually a gourd plant used for scrubbing while pumice is volcanic rock. The sponge I'm referring to is universally referred to as a loofah, a mesh sponge, or a poof/pouf, but at Bath & Body Works they are labeled as a Loofah Bath Sponge.
You should be careful with wall flowers if you have any animals, it can make them really sick, i don’t ever use them.

They have priced Wallflower refills out of my reach. AirWicks smell better, longer and cheaper.
What's your favorite AirWick scent? I remember using it was either AirWick or Glade a long time ago and I really enjoyed it. It was an Apple Cinnamon one at the time!
