- Come and declutter my Bath & Body Works collection with me! This is a project I like to do about twice a year, and now that it's 2024, I thought I'd kick off the new year with a decluttered and reorganized body care closet! 🧼

I just did a huge bath & bodyworks/ Victoria Secret declutter. I gave away 3 boxes of bodycare to my family and friends. I also donated a box to the womens shelter. I try to declutter once or twice a year, so nothing goes bad. I am being more intentional with what I buy from now on. I also decided not to buy any more backups.

I have a big collection and I give a lot away to family friends and people who may be going through mental health hard times etc

I love seeing products that aren’t in the season that we are currently in! Especially older ones.
I have a huge collection like you and I’ve really been focused on getting through products that I’ve had for two years or more. I have a random bin that have products with just a small amount and I grab them for my nighttime showers. It works well to get through the last tail ends!

I am in use it up mode right now and have had some positive results. Usually it’s focusing on the body creams that need used up but of course I put the entire set in the use it up spot. I always test in store and only buy what I love which is spring florals, berries and perfume scents but I still have a strong desire to use stuff up so none of it goes to waste money and space wise.

Thank you, I'm glad you found it practical! I use and enjoy my collection every day, and so does my family, so I'm not really someone that does a ruthless declutter when it comes to my body care! I'm trying to be better at letting go of things as well. Focusing on "Let's use this up and not repurchase" helps me declutter because then I'll know at least I got to enjoy it and not waste it! 🥰
I would love to see a video about the scent journal you mentioned. I love that idea & want to start one but i’m not really sure how.
My collection has grown so much since I decided to rebuild it in the fall of 2021. I stopped buying certain products like body creams and lotions. I have one body cream left, two body lotions and one body butter. I would say my fine fragrance mists have expanded the most and it's what I decided to purchase the most as these have a longer shelf life. I would like to use up some of my minis this year in the fine fragrance mists. I'm trying hard not to purchase so many minis. I go through body washes/shower gels quicker than most. I don't buy many hand soaps either as we have at least 20 now which we have to get through. I don't mind what season I use. Whatever hits my mood with body care. I decluttered 3 fine fragrance mists last year to a friend and most likely will do the same this year at some point. It feels good to declutter. It just gets too much after awhile and it does get overwhelming. I've started a BBW scrapbook last year. I take photos and when I use up a product I peel off the labels if I can. It's helping me use up product and also helps me use up some of my crafting supplies at the same time.
Oh that's interesting that you mainly use/have fragrance mists! That's probably a good call because like you said, they have much better shelf life than moisturizers for instance. I've been working towards prioritizing body lotions over body creams myself...I used to like cream better when I started my collection but it is true that the lotions seem to have a better shelf life. That all sounds great! 😊 I love the scrapbook/documenting by photo idea for products that end up becoming sentimental, or even just to help keep track and look back on what you were using. I have my BBW scrapbook started, but really need to spend a day working on it since I have a bin of goodies that need peeling so I can add them in! So true on the using up the crafting supplies at the same time! 😊

Hi! Oh I know it, it's been so cold here too! We got down to -13 F which is way too cold! It's "warming" up to the double digits now, and tonight we get more snow which will last for a few days according to the weather report! ❄️ It means lots of hot chocolate is in order! I just decluttered my pbacks earlier 2day & that's only Step 1. Next it'll be wallflowers/wallflower plugs, one form at a time.
Great job, you got this! I admit, this declutter project took me the span of 2 weeks just because I would spend an hour here and there and let a few days go by. Sometimes a little extra time, or doing it in chunks helps! 😊

How many times/day do you reapply a FFM? It takes me forever to get through one! I’ve never used one up. I feel like I spray myself very generously, too. 🤔
For my FFMs, I spray about 2x per day: Once when I'm getting dressed for the day, and once when I'm getting into my PJs for bed. If I take a shower sometime during the day that isn't at normal getting dressed times, I'll also have a 3rd go at the mist coming out of the shower. It depends on the scent since some are more intense than others, but roughly my spray routine is this: 4-5 times at my neck/chest area, 2-3 times per arm, 3-4 times circling my head, 3-4 times down the legs. If I put on an additional outer layer like an extra sweater or coat, then I'll do the chest area again 2-3 times after putting it on. If I'm in a hurry, have a super strong fragrance, or know I'm going to be in a situation where that's too much for the people around me, I'll just do the 4-5 sprays at the neck/chest and skip the rest. What's your spritzing routine? I read a forum post about this once! 😁
Last fall there was a good sale on hand soap and I got about 9 of them. We only got through 1 before I switched it to a Christmas soap when Thanksgiving passed. I gave one away but still have 8 so we'll be getting through those for a while 😅
That happens to me too! I buy them when they go on sale towards the end of the season, but end up putting them away for when that season comes around again! 😅🧼
@MelissaC Haha my boyfriend does not understand it. He says he can keep using Christmas soap in January and I say "no. No you cannot." 🤣
I just reorganized my collection, and I have some things I'm willing to part with. I need to go through my haircare, too, because it's gotten a little crazy.
I also have a hard time sorting by season. I usually end up with "transition" piles, which are spring-into-summer and summer-into-fall.
You have a lot of use it up products this time! Hopefully you'll get through them this year. It's so satisfying to finish things, but sometimes bittersweet if they are discontinued scents. Good luck!
It's always so satisfying to get all of the body care reorganized, good work! And yeah, same especially for Spring and Summer...of course some are obvious to me like tropical scents for summer, but things like orange, lemon, fresh/clean scents, strawberry, berries, etc can be both Spring or Summer to me! 😅
I know! 😫 Some of these items will be hard to get rid of, but now that I've started to scrapbook labels of nostalgic pieces, it helps me feel better about parting with them! 😁
@@MelissaC It's weird to me that they bring out tropical scents in February, because I don't want to use them until summer! For citrus and berries, if they are more fresh or tart (White Citrus, Blackberries & Basil), I count them as spring, whereas the more sweet/sugary scents (Grapefruit Frose, Buttercups & Berry Bellini) are summer. But that's just what works for me and my brain. 😄
Will you share your scrapbook sometime? That seems like something I should have, too. Too bad we can't make them scratch 'n sniff!

I need to smell it first, an employee told me it smells similar to Black Cherry Merlot, which if it is that'd be kinda lame. (I like Black 🍒 Merlot but have enough.) The notes of Sweetheart Cherry sound like something I would really like with the added pistachio! Have you tried it yet?

extensive, too, so I'm rather picky what I add to it.

Super fun declutter video! You have a wonderful collection. I go through my collection twice a year, in January and June. I mainly had shower gels that needed to be declutter this month. I’m trying to be very selective in what I buy and I think my efforts are paying off!
Good morning! The pocketbac expiration dates are directly on the bottom in small black text. Sometimes they are hard to read! But they are in a normal format like month/year rather than having to decipher s batch code which is nice. 😊 That's about where I'm at...twice a year going hand in hand with when the semi annual sales is what I've found to work best for decluttering time! 🗑️ Best of luck to you with your using up projects! 🥰🫧❄️🧼🚿

I think the reason I didn’t notice it before was because I have a pretty old PocketBac sitting in the living room next to my chair and it must be so old it just has the batch code number on it! 😂 I couldn’t even tell you the last time it was used and I think this one in particular was part of a gift basket I won. I looked in my drawer where I keep my new ones and they all have an expiration date right on the bottom. Obviously this one in the living room needs to be tossed. Learned something new today, thank you Melissa. 💕
What's your opinion on Dirty Soul Soap Co. products?
I love Dirty Soul Soap Co! To summarize in a few sentences, almost all of the BBW-inspired fragrances I've tried of his have been extremely close to the originals. There have only been a couple that weren't very similar, but they still smelled good anyway. The strength and longevity are much more intense than BBW, which is what I like. And their original fragrances are amazing...there are a handful of those I like even better than the BBW-inspired ones! I've made a couple of videos about them if you want to check it out on my channel! 🥰

I ended throwing away around 10 bottles of body cream that I had stored away and forgotten about for 5years. They were expired and gross. Not over buying anymore.
Awww that's rough! Sorry that happened. Those body creams seem to be the worst body care form when it comes to shelf life. I have pretty good luck in that my body creams stay in surprisingly good shape even after a long time, though I see so many people don't have that same luck. I have mainly switched to body lotion over cream since they seem to stay fresher longer!

Majority of my body creams from 2021/2022 went bad, look yellow had to throw them out 😢
Wow, that's not even that old in comparison to some that I have that are still good! 😢
Just know that looking yellow doesn't mean they went bad!!! Fragrances with vanilla in them will naturally discolor.
They go bad when the scent changes in a bad way, it becomes watery/seperated/chunky, or it sounds seperated when you shake it.

How can you tell the expiration dates on the products 🤔 esp the sanitizers ?
The sanitizers on the bottom in really small, black text will have a date that looks like EXP: month/year. As for the other body care and hand soap products, they don't have expiration dates unless they contain active ingredients such as SPF, but you can see when they were created by looking at the batch codes. Knowing when they were created can help you know how old they are and tell you which ones you should prioritize first if you can. They are located either on the bottom of bottles or embossed in the seam of the crimped part of body creams on top. For the products that are from 2010 or after, the batch code will be something like ####XXXX and you'll want to focus on the first four digits. For example, I have a Disco Daydream body lotion with me and it's code is 3102B5B1. The first digit, 3, indicates the year it was created so it would either be 2013 or 2023, and since I have enough context on this product, I know it's 2023. The next three digits indicate the day of the year the product was produced, so in this case it was made on the 102nd day of the year which is April 12th. For products older than 2010, it's the other way around...the first three digits of the code are the day of the year and the fourth digit indicates the year. So I have a super old BBW product I found at a thrift store that's code is 1249C8A1. Also note that super old products have a little bit shorter batch codes and usually have the first four digits, and then a capital C after. This product was made on the 124th day of the year which is May 4th, and the year is 1999. I know it's not 2009 in this case because it has a sunburst logo and their 1990s font style on it! Sorry for the super long message but I hope this information helps! 🤗❄️

I sincerely miss Be Joyful and if there is anything you can think of, layering, dupe, ANYTHING even close enough, what is your opinion???
Yeah, I'm really surprised they haven't had a reprise of that fragrance! Well first of all, the small company Dirty Soul Soap Co. has their own version of Be Joyful that while it isn't 100% exact to my nose, it smells super similar and pairs very nicely with it. 😊 I've always thought that Be Joyful was a little bit like some elements from Gingham (original blue one) and A Thousand Wishes combined. Gingham since it has a similar clementine note, and A Thousand Wishes because it has that festive sweet perfume vibe. Now that I'm thinking about it, there are quite a few shared notes between Be Joyful and Fresh Sparkling Snow too. 😊
