2.1 litre OM651 mapped 239bhp, 253hp if one omits, bi-passes the DPF...
With my EGR disabled I’m getting better mpg, more power,
better efficiency and it runs cooler... EGR active, engine less efficient, runs hotter and has to utilise filthy exhaust fumes to be recirculated into the engine to reduce increased temps.. Then there’s the issue of fuel contaminated engine oil and premature injectors suffering from the dreaded Black Death..
My advice, the OM651 is a perfectly good engine, just ditch the EGR and have it remapped..
Keep an eye out for tensioner issues, which left long enough can end in tears... 6k mile oil changes will result in an engine easily being capable of 250,000 miles plus...
Stop start, short journeys and an active EGR you will be lucky to see 150,000 without issues.. It’s not the engines fault, just the shite required to pass emissions that is causing premature death..

Very perfomant engine but complicated and with already known problems of hydraulic lifters, rockers and camshafts.

Will be ridiculously expensive to change any faulty parts on thst car when warranty is gone 😂 change waterpump, well take 6 h..? G-Belt 2 h? sensors or other things?.....

From my own experience, this is the most unreliable engine, it has two major problems:
1.Timming chain.
2. Rocker Arms
The engine in my car w213 2017 only done 68000 mile.
Mercedes coat me £3380 for 15 hours to replace timing chain and and the rocker arms.
My advice is to keep away from the OM654 220d engine.
