  • In this video I will be using 3d printed Velociraptor claws to make bronze sand castings. The models were printed on my Elegoo Saturn resin 3d printer. The majority of my equipment is homemade including my foundry furnace.

    You should print all bones for a whole velociraptor. That could be such a cool project to watch, but also in the end very cool for you to have.

    Great idea. I am casting Deinonychus killing claws to sell to the tourists that come to Big Bend National Park in SW Texas. Interesting fact about these dinosaurs - Velociraptor remains have only been found in China and Mongolia while Deinonychus remains were found in Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Oklahoma.

    The velociraptor size issue in Jurassic Park was less movie magic and more an issue of writing choice. Michael Crichton worked with paleontologist John Ostrom who was basically the world's foremost expert on deinonychus. After some time working with it, Crichton apologetically swiped the name "velociraptor" and applied it to his otherwise accurate (for the time of writing) deinonychus. The movie was based on deinonychus, but producers decided not to update its appearance with the new consensus that it was likely feathered.

    Utah raptor was used in Jurassic park movies but the name velociraptor sounded cooler so they went with that despite it being smaller. I work at a steel foundry and this is fun to watch. Thanks for the vids

    • @Merennulli
      @Merennulli 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know Utah likes to claim that, but the books and movies use deinonychus. Utahraptor wasn't described scientifically until literally the same month the film hit theaters, long after it had been shot and even longer after the book was written.

    How does that epoxy 3-D printer work? How is it just able to 'pull' printed parts out of no where?
    Usually when I see 3-D printers they involve an extruder and print the parts from the bottom up on a solid platform.
    But this printer seems to 'pull' the part out of the liquid epoxy. I can't visualize how something like that would work??
