Have been a G85 user for 5 years seriously considering the S5 as an upgrade for it's video features and most importantly it's probably the best bargain for a full frame camera! The auto focus for me is not a big deal as I mostly use manual focus and what I love about Panasonic is the consistent firmware updates and how they continually support their older cameras even the G85 which is probably 6 or 7 years old now since it's first release! My G85 just keeps getting better even the auto focus with every new firmware update and I know the S5 will have that same support.

I have watched hours upon hours of reviews on this camera, but everyone are so focused in the video quality and bashing the AF. This is the first video I see the image composition and time lapse features... featured and showcased.

The unlimited recording time sold me on this camera. I was going to get the Fuji XT4 but decided to go with the S5
I’m a total noob! What are you getting at with the term unlimited recording time? Like you don’t have to have a memory card or what am I missing?
@@ryanslager2880 a lot of cameras put in an artificial time limit to how much video you can record in 1 uninterrupted recording. The S5 has unlimited video recording in 8 bit, but will impose a 30 minute limit for 10 bit recording.
Even the latest canon hybrid cameras are still in limited recording time
How is the autofocus man?I am one man army.I have to video myself outside.Will it survive in the autofocus?

For sports mode what shutter speed would you use on 1.8 lens or the 3.5 kit lens? 1/500? I usually use 1/250 with auto iso and always served me well. What would you recommend? Thank you

So these are when you shoot log footage in camera. Luts you then apply after when editing / colour grading. You can download them from Panasonic!

But nobody ever mentions the available budget lens selection even of those primes that should be some what on the cheap side
The camera is amazing but the lens selection of budget sorts leaves something to be strongly desired
While Sony has samyang primes I kinda wish s5 has an equivalent selection of fast primes
I really wanted this to be my main Camera as I'm used to Panasonic MFt line
And the 10bit addition at this price is amazing

Hi what is your honest impression of the EVF please? You don’t talk about it but I feel it’s a real drawback compared to competition and mainly compared to S1 series. Thanks to let me know
so the processed timelapse looks way better , do I understand right that you did it in photoshop and not Camera itself?
This will usually always be the case because it gives you a lot more dynamic range and ability to edit the raw photos! But the trade off is that it’s a lot more work. For me I use LRtimelapse, a plug-in which works with Lightroom to edit the photo sequence, then Premiere pro to tweak the final video if needed. Few different ways you can process them though!

If you could only have 1 body would you trade your R5 in for the S5?
I think the cameras are too different to properly compare! You could trade in an R5 and buy two S5's haha pretty crazy. That in mind, it still has some big advantages over the R5, like the 10bit video files are so much easier to work with when editing, it can now record prores raw externally as well. Pretty awesome for a camera of this price point. R5 vs S5 for me, more depends on your budget

I currently own 0 lenses or bodies so this decision is harder than expected 😅. I'm not bias at all. For $3,500 I'd lean towards the A7siii, but I'm trying to stay around $2,500 for a body. I'm a hybrid shooter. I'd say 65% video, 35% pictures.
Hi i want to ask about the lcd auto exposure, when you change the setting on lumix S5 like shutter speed, iso or aperture, the exposure on your lcd is automatically adjust, i mean when you spot/move your camera to the brightness area, the exposure is automatically adjust to be darker and vice cersa, so you can not monitoring the real time exposure when you change the setting, di lcd exposure is always changing depends on bright or dark area. Could you please help me to solve that problem? Thank you bro
This really is the best so far from lumix.. small lack of af but the cinematic touch and feel .. I would take this easily instead of Sony a7s3 ... Easily

If you search "Panasonic LUT library" - a result should come up for the actual Panasonic website for your region? You can download them there. Should be compatible with any camera capable of shooting V-log 🤙

I don’t know why people give so much shite to Panasonic & LUMIX S5 - The iBIS is So Fcking Better than Any other Camera out there. Even though their AutoFocus is Not the best best on Market, The 5Axis IBIS is So Good that 1/5’ Second Shutter HandHeld photos can be captured without Fail that’s Impressive. Then The V-Log & Quality of Pixels is Just Impressive.
&Then Slow Mo! OMG 😱 150fps Full Frame No Crop & 180fps APS-c Crop! That too Without degradation in quality or Losing the IBIS stabilisation! God Damnn

Maybe you should tell witch camera you are used cause for me Lumix S5. is just a trash for photography and the AFC is ridicolous.

The Canon RP is easily the best value FF at under $1k. It can be had under $900 right now. That Panasonic is $2k lol.
You cant conpare a garbage rp with an outdated bad dynamic range sensor and crippled video features with a s5. With the rp you get what sou pay for.
@@castielvargastv7931 sorry but you can’t compare a garbage electronics company like Panasonic to Canon. The RP has much better colors and access to RF lenses which blow away and crap Panasonic puts out
@@michaelbell75 colors are subjective. I hate canon colors, panasonic looks much better to me. The bad dynamic range of a rp and eaosr is real, the very bad video features of a rp or eosr ar real. By the way panasonic is a much bigger and richer company than canon.

@@michaelbell75 so you are a one dimensional oldschool photographer who does not care about picture quality as long there is the name canon on the label🤣 panasonic colors are great, fuji colors are great, nikon colors are great i really dont like the unrealistic brownish purple canon colors or the yellowcolors in the r6. With panasonic lenses there is nothing to complain about, they are expensive but top of the line canon lenses are very expensive too , and no i dont care about the old lenses for new cameras.To me foto only cameras are dead. In 2020 a camera should be able to do video and fotos on a high level.

Looks a great camera but there must be negatives somewhere.
No Full HDMI like the GH5, low quality EVF and you can't do unlimited recording video in 10bit 422.
@@Filmmaker809 that’s the issue when you receive a camera or lens from the company. Your review often tends to bias towards the positive. It is a ‘good’ camera but poor review.

It's great camera but the lenses are expensive or shit or non existent , and using adapters is not the best solution
