Another trick is to block with the sword before boarding a stationary ship, it muffles the sound of you coming out of the water for some reason, but it works for me.

Sitting still or adsing with a gun also does the same thing or boarding when underwater this is called silent boarding
Not only stationary... If works with every weapon... If u dont move while boarding a stationary or moving ship + u block / ads... And maybe even try to stay slightly underwater u get a nearly completly silent board
He's mentioned it in another video so I think he didn't mention it because he didn't want to repeat himself (although he did with the ladder-ladder sword hop.. and also maybe that video came out after this one so idk what to think lol).

I simply just don't have a computer with a 5000 horsepower cooling fan, with a 2000gb ram, with some 8000 security graphics card, with a 50 inch monitor with the new years resolution of 4000 x 6000, with a mouse and keyboard that plays music and lights up to it. As you can see, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Can we just get it for console? You know....for us simple folks.

Using a sword is stupid for one very important reason. It literally doesnt work. The blocking is broken 75% of the time and sword backtracks are insane. The sword is a clunky no skill weapon right now and will always be beat by good double gunners. If the sword worked the way it did back in november of 2019 where you could have actual advanced swordplay like lockdown, then yes, it would be a great weapon and it would actually be balanced. Also if you want proof that blocking doesnt work, go to 4:07 in the video. The only skillful way to use a sword is to lunge spam, but i have NEVER found a random in arena that can do it right.

@@invizcharlie9477 Gun hitreg is a problem but Rare ruined the sword because it used to be a skillful weapon but now it is clunky and broken. Randoms like you wouldnt know about old advanced strategies such as lockdown.
Rare just hates dobble gun hit reg could intended (i don't know for sure but sword hit reg is not really a problem)
As someone who likes to think of themselves as rather versed with the sword, it is always exciting to learn a new thing! The sword hop stuff is super neat, especially the ability to pass through opponents! As often as I jump over players in fights, jumping THROUGH them sounds crazy.

Olden day pirates would actually carry multiple flintlocks often as many as they could strap on to avoid the actually substantial reload time.
@@simonnachreiner8380 yeah , but a flintlock was very expensive, so most pf pirates uses swords and with lucky a fire gun , and at combat is imposible to reload , that takes too long

@@bluepoint5786 very late but pirates were also typically untrained in combat and relied on brutality to scare people to avoid a proper fight, so a sword to the gut and spilling out some blood and organs was generally preferable to just shooting someone as it would usually scare people enough that they wouldn’t put up much of a fight its also known theyd hang corpses of the bows of their ships by their own intestines for the same reason

Been playing since day one, I didn’t know you could sword hop thru an enemy. Subscribed.
Sword hop lets you pass through allied and enemy crews, AI mobs, and even escape stuns from being sworded or electrocuted.
I learned a lot from this video, I like the way another comment describes your sword skills as “literally nutty”
Also that sword looks like it’d go with my outfit pretty well, what’s it called so I can try to find it?

I had my first battle a few minutes ago it was intense! I play solo in a sloop so I’m doing it all. Definitely fun! He chased me down and I ended up with all his treasures! Lol
When you watch ladders on sloop with sword you can Charge and when hes Not coming Up you can cancel by grabbing the Helm, Anker or angles and then you can Charge again.
And for some reason when you Hit the harpoon with Charge you Not fully stuned. Good Guide
The harpoon has a hit box for detaching it so that is probably why

As a duelist at heart, I *love* sword combat in games be it on something like Battlefront 2, For Honor, or even this the first time I got engaged in pvp in this game I won a 1 v 2 with my sword favorite weapon in game all day
It would be cool if there other 2 option of melee weapon like guns, for example long reach spear or halberd, axe or dagger.
If someone sees this weird its not in golden age of piracy, pirates used all range of melee weapons for that era, like pikes, halberds, axes and etc.

Dang, how do you find such chill people. You are besting them and they give you compliments. All I have is people who shout every curse at me for cooking their leeches.
Because there's a distinction. They get wrecked hard and the gap is very apparent and they show that appreciation. With others and they feel that they got robbed is when they get toxic.

as opposed to climbing the ladder after jumping off of the captains deck thing you should just jump to the little board because its way faster
I know this is an old video but another guy showed me a trick where you can jump up and then sword lunge down at an angle. Seems to go right through blocks too.
I recently started swording and pistoling and it's probably the easiest load out. I really recomend it.

Awesome tips. Ive played since the game first dropped but never really got into pvp, being a solo player. Finally just got super into the game tho. Weird learning curve for solo players imo
Don’t forget that if you start a sword lunge and want to cancel it, grab something near by such as a ladder, cannon or wheel.

I usually like to double hop before a sword lunge i find while mid air you can turn faster to help track people who are trying to evade you're lunge
You forgot a important one for the word lunge.
You can cancel the sword lunge by grabbing the cannons, or wheel or anything, if you realise you're about to mess up the lunge.

i always use sword pistol but whenever im boarding or being boarded i go straight to sword blunder, i find it alot more useful for close combat with the kb and the spread means i should still do a little damage when i miss
i do the same except more so for the knockback than anything else

Hey blurbs the sword has so many weird things going on with it for example when I sword hop through someone I will be on the backside of them and they will slash where I was at and it will somehow hit me. Also when me and a enemy yesterday were doing the back and forth thing just staring at each between blocking and attacking I will block but then it will be my turn to attack but somehow after I hit them once or twice they somehow cancel my combo by somehow hitting me and doing their combo while I’m halfway through mine completely ruining the mechanic

@@AShinyRay I completely agree! The fast hip fire and fast reload time combined with the agile ness of the sword allows you to win battle in the deep and on a ship!
i always use pistol why? i find sniper and shotgun too situational and dont combo well with the sword

I really dislike the sword fighting mechanics in this game. with Desync blocks feel completely random and its much easier to just stick to guns.

Great video, but these gimmicks make me wish the combat got an significant upgrade so swash-buckling is actually fun for both fighters.
Would like to agree with you but unfortunately players will always find a way to make mechanics gimmicky/cheesy. Check out Mordhau for example, great and advanced swordplay mechanics yet players will use every trick in the book to abuse animations and/or throw off your opponent. There's always a way to make it un-fun for the opponent.
@@keziah5647 what do u mean by throw off, fainting is just part of the game and a very real thing, if u couldn't faint the fights would just go on for 10 min
People saying pc is too hard to get into or too expensive. I bought a pc off kijiji classifieds, for 600. Gtx1060 6gbvram . i5 3.2 ghz. 16gb ram. . Has lasted me almost 3 years. Plays everything I need it to.

5:05 this seems so minor but it is actually such an important tip to keep in mind, because GOOD players will NOT LET YOU KNOW they are ladder guarding. They will absolutely hide off to the side outside of your POV, trying to make you believe there is no threat. And if it turns out no one is guarding the ladder, the two seconds it takes to make this movement will hardly impact the effect your board will have.
If you'd like to do a mobility sword lunge (sword dash), hold block while charging a sword lunge, then jump the moment the animation begins. This will send you very far and is great for propelling yourself through water.
rare should add grapple ropes you can use to swing to other ships
Bro, talk about underrated, this dude has amazing tips for pvp, ship operation and just the game as a whole, this guy should really be more known around TH-cam, especially since of the new update coming which may attract new players.

ive been playing since launch. im pretty certain im THE best using the sword in the game. there's been soooo many ppl say that im not and that they're "better" but i kill them. there's been ppl who are known to be some of the best. and I still kill them
As someone who only started the game hours ago and already had my ship attack by a couple of Russian dudes while I was doing some business at an outpost, it is my personal vendetta to hunt them down and make them pay now, lol

Block your sword and you will get better than pretty much everybody
This is what happens when someone chooses Swashbuckler Rouge with a Pirate background in D&D
for some reason even after successfully blocking their 3 hit combo, before i get the chance to counter attack the opponent manages to start his next 3 hit combo before i do leaving me stunned and unable to get any counter attack. Am i doing something wrong with blocking?

do wannna add the comment i know this is two years ago, but there were pirates who used multiple ranged instead of a sword, blackbeard was actually quite notorious for carrying a lot of flintlocks on his jackets and rarely using his sword
I’m really good with 1 on 1 sword play but when double gunners join it’s a different story
Yes but I play three different lobbies and I found that one of those lobbies expects me to always head for the mast the second lobby always expects me to head for the balcony and always has a player there to cut me up it's always annoying and the third lobby is all sweat I have no way of getting through the third lobby I usually bring on more experienced players to check them out and even they have trouble themselves

very good tips thank you been trying to master the sword, I'm use to double gunning but it has it's disadvantages.
I love swordhoping, always stumble to people who use double gun, but when you do stunts with sword they either curse you or will be jaw dropping
6 minutes of explanations (gets double tapped) *its a pirate game I should use sword* kekw
And just remember blunder has a 360 unlimited range filed of instant kill so just dont exist if they use one
I always need improvement with close combat ha ha, ima definitely practice my sword hops and a few of these other tricks

i'm coming back on this video to say that the dodge when you just finished climbing the ladder save me so many times, best tips, love you blurbs i still lose in 1v1 against a very good player but i did improved by your help, i win a lot of fight just by circling them and jumping over them :p
