How on the earth do you know that he hadn't shed a single tear while he wrote or performed this? Don't write such ignorant things behind the screen for such an incredible artist. He probably would have cried a lot. The lyrics are too sentimental not to get emotional with. After all he wrote them himself. Recently I have been a real jerk to my parents and ungrateful for everything they have done for me. This song made me realize how much they have done for me and how much they mean to me, and I now appreciate them so much more and I will make sure to never forget to tell them I love them. This version of the 5th of July really connects with me. My Grandpa, who is now in the presence of Jesus in Heaven, suffered a major heart attack late on the 4th of July. On the 5th of July, we (his entire family) gathered around his bed and shared with him what we loved about him the most (he was in a coma). On the 6th of July, we sang him to Heaven where he'll never be heartbroken again. Thank God we DID take advantage of the many opportunities we had to tell him how much we loved him, and how much he means to us. He knew that he was loved, not just by us, but by his Father. Every life is precious! I encourage all to take time out of your day to let your family know that you love them. Those words are simple to say, but they carry a LOT of meaning!
