Hey man! In this video i was using the 55mm Zeiss 1.8 by Sony 🤙🤙
It might be easier to do this in the USA but the Swedish seemed open to it in your video! I don't think street portraits ever get 100% easy but having the camera and seeing the beauty in someone excites me enough to overcome the anxiety. You're very good at keeping your portrait subjects around for a minute or two and asking them to pose, converse, move, etc. I sometimes feel like I'm bothering them and rush to get a few shots. Then I look at them later and wish I'd tried different compositions.
Props to you for giving it a go, and videoing it as well, it's something I'm always drawn to but there's the concern and fear with asking random strangers for portraits, and you just dove in. Good going, great video.
Love seeing how happy people can get just from a photo of themselves

Anton, what a successful shoot and long walk. Someone here in the USA posted a similar video. I noticed that people in pairs were more confident and secure in interacting. Your way of handling the malicious posting fear was calm and convincing. Nothing to hide, smiling, I'm sure, and those 2 coffee girls we the cutest! Also, the non-couple couple. Your observation that they weren't a couple cut the tension and they gave us some nice conversational shots. Thanks for the great content.

Finally a video I can relate. I live in Sweden now and is not easy to have swedish people to allow you to take their picture so this is a good motivation. Not to mention that I feel very self concious to begin with when I try to take streets photos.
Give it a shot! Just remember to try and be very gentle and ask nicely 👍

Just watched this two years later. Of all the places to try this, you picked Sweden. You guys are probably even more reserved than we are here in the UK. I found it interesting looking at the buildings and architecture in Sweden and how some parts seem similar to the UK but other parts it is definitely different.
Haha yeah I know! I just had a feeling one day that I wanted to challenge my social anxiety lol! And I think the first couple (who was not swedish) kind of motivated me to keep going!

Nice video. I enjoyed it 👍 It’s funny how almost everyone is wearing black clothes this time of the year, so when you see someone in a red jacket, or a yellow jacket, they kind of stick out from the rest. 😊 Btw, the first couple was really friendly and I think I liked your photos of them the most. All people you approached was friendly though, so you kind of show that it is not dangerous to ask people if you can take their photo 😊 I would probably never do that anyway because I’m a bit shy to talk to strangers and explaining what I’m doing.

As photographers I guess we are kind of scouting for it as well, we do love our colourful jackets don’t we 😀 The first couple was really friendly and comfortable, also loved the orange bokeh from the lights in the background! 😍 I feel you dude, but maybe you should give it a shot, I felt super uncomfortable and anxious before and during this video but it got easier. I think being social with strangers is definitely a skill that can be learned to some extent, maybe you should give it a shot 👍

Would you mind telling me what camera/lens combination you use as i'm keen to know if i could achieve a similar subject separation with my canon crop sensor and a Sigma 30mm f1.4mm. Also, your autofocus seems very accurate especially with the cyclists, were you using face detect?

@@AntonNordstrand People are a bit wary of cameras in Manchester. Although, I tried it in the night time and some people were actually offering to be photographed. Maybe alcohol makes a difference :)

what lens were you using shooting that vid? Do you go around with a set aperture and just changing shutter speed or the other way around? ISO? that would be awesome to know how you approach doing street.
Sorry for not supplying that information, I was using aperture priority mode which means that the aperture always stay the same but if it's to dark the ISO will go higher!
