Well. I remember my Dad,mum and mum's parents driving us up that way and taking sister,brother and me on an autumn walk straight past that hermitage. Great stuff.🙏
Just a thought. Next time light the fire while you can still stay outside. Let it warm the rock. It will hold heat for hours and take the dampness out. Then when the smoke clears, go inside and enjoy the warmth. The rock will hold the heat for hours and your lanterns will help keep it warm. Cheers and Happy New Year.

Just wondered if you had heard of the secret cave in the lake district complete with a couple of sleeping platforms, fireplace and flue. Some people have been trying to find it for years and never have! I managed to find it last january on a snowy day. I dont want to ruin the mystery of it by sharing its location in the public comments, but if your interested in it for a future adventure, let me know, and i will tell you where it is and send pics. Plus theres an amazing wild swimming spot close by thats so cold it will cause your undercarriage to retract into the deepest depths of your guts 🥶Tried to send this via PM, but youtube have removed the facility to do it. Looks like you had a fun time. It got me thinking how much that camping inside a rock resembles my tornado shelter ! My shelter is of course a concrete shelter 3/4 in the ground but near as sturdy as your rock shelter. One huge advantage of my concrete shelter is that it is only 25 feet from an endless supply of beer in my garage!
