Amazing piece of kit, obviously. Totally out of my reach and more expensive than my whole set up. LOL, thanks for the review, Chris. It's like watching Top Gear when they drive hyper cars. :)
I had the pleasure of trying out this wheel late last year and it certainly lived up to my expectations. It's solid as anything and the injection-moulded grips feel sublime, along with the shift paddles. One thing I found myself doing though was accidentally activating the top rotary if I moved my thumb to try and get some extra purchase or open my grip up a bit. I guess it's a bad habit of mine, and obviously modern F1 wheels are not designed for your grip to move in the slightest. I may one day look at buying this wheel, although the price is a bit hard to justify. The Lm-pro wheel that Max Verstappen uses is just as well made but half the price (after AU import duties) thanks to the less complicated layout and lack of a display; it makes more sense if you're in VR as well. Something like that might be what I ultimately end up going with when I go direct drive in a few years.
I have the base level racing gear. I just need a wheel, my old G27 wheel broke. I was just about to start upgrading my sim to a high end one, but a hiccup in my life has put that on hold. So I will add this to my wish list for later.
The grey part of the wheel - seen either side of the carbon centre plate - is a laser sintered part made from carbon reinforced PA12. It is clear from the appearance of the part shown in this video that the geometry is not optimal for the process & that the process has not been well controlled.
What would stop a wheel like this being used in an actual vehicle, with a more sturdy connector of course, after doing a bit of research into wheels like the AIM Formula wheel I can’t see a reason why this couldn’t be used for actual racing, maybe some vibration problems perhaps?

Hi Chris, you mention that the buttons and the rotary switches are swiss made. What is the name of the company that made the buttons and the rotary switches ?
Just look up what a Santa Cruz V10 in it’s best spec will run you. You could get a pretty good car for those shekels. My point is, some people wants to ride bikes as a hobby, some people wanna sim-race. Some people won’t settle with nothing but the best, and if you are a dentist or whatever, you can afford it. Good for you!
Power/connection to the PC. They're working on wireless versions of their wheel range at the moment. But, in that situation you have to rely on battery power - so there are pros and cons. Cables are pretty common on wheels in GT cars.
Fanatec and Thrustmaster wheels are powered through the base. Direct drive wheels generally don't do this. The new Fanatec Podium series will be the first to transmit power/control signals through the shaft, when they hit the market later this year.
This is the type of high-quality product I'd personally buy even at a higher price. Its that good. However, like many promising products, it fails short with those cheap stickers around the buttons. Just cheap and horrible. Even if they decided not to laser-etch the commands on the wheel for customization's sake (though that could work through a bespoke program and a symbolic fee), at least recessing the areas beneath the stickers would have helped a lot to maintain the premium theme as well as protect the stickers from peeling off. The wheels is brand new yet some stickers show signs of coming off already. Such a let down for what could be described as the sexiest wheel on sale today. Your presentation, however, is just as magnificent as all the other videos you create. Thank you Chris.
But that is also exactly what the F1's use as well. How ever I agree that I would not be happy if they started to wear out or come off after a year or so.
@@NicolaosSoldal In Formula 1 you have a team of up to 1500 in a single team dedicated to do whatever lasts for 45 minutes only. Would you really be satisfied changing the stickers (or any other part/accessory every session on your sim rig? hell, even once per month? The only way for the stickers to be protected is, again, by being placed 'inside' a recessed area (like a sunken dish) so that the movement of your finger tip never touches the edges of the stickers or by painting/laser-etching them so they last for the longest time. As much as I adore this wheel, it is still an unfinished product, especially given the price it dictates.

Hello, good video, great wheel. Simple question for you Chris, how do you change the dash display on the wheel? I see you use the Page+ and Page- buttons but those seem inoperable on my received model. Is there something I'm missing or did I somehow receive a defective wheel? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video, it's very interesting! It seems this product has a huge scope problem. As you said, PSE is coming from pro market and tries to target the general public. But even in the pro market, "uncompromising" is a synonym of over-budget, badly targeted product, and that will be of course even more obvious in the general sim market (which is not very large). Most people will look at this as an awesome product but the price will simply not meet their utility, and we know what that means, it will not sell much. For example, using top materials ("aero-space grade aluminium", which rather sounds like meaningless marketing term, and single-pieced body) for parts that would already have been perfect with ordinary materials and a common assembly process is unnecessary. Likewise, what is the use of such a high-cost display when it is duplicated on the screen... and more readable on screen actually, since the users don't have to change their vision's field depth - for the few who aren't simply in VR in the first place. Finally, what makes a racing wheel great is the motor base, the wheel is only a small fraction of the perceived quality. So overall, they have spent a lot of money in irrelevant features.
Beautiful! and Utterly unaffordable! :( Bit of a non sequitur but - I'd love to hear of the difference between the two F1 rims for the Thrustmaster T300 / T500 wheels 🤞 (no one's covered it yet AFAICT)
Answering the OP question. Hardware wise, Yes. Software, no. It’s weird that such a top wheel at such a price has very little flexibility on the Dash and uses Fanaleds to program the LEDs. At that price point one would expect a dedicated software to come along that gives high flexibility when programming the Dash and LEDs
Daniel Oliver the wireless gt3 wheel is newer than this wheel design wise - even though the gt3 was released first. They plan on bringing out all their rims in wireless in the future
Question for the sim racers here. Which game is he using. Is it the official F1 game or something else more high end? I have the 2019 version which I love but always looking for the best experience.
So much compromise to cut down on cost though. The cable is fixed with a cheap cable gland. The button shrouds are 3d printed and not very well you can see the layer lines. The button labels are just stickers. The cables from the shifters on the back are out in the open. I could go on... And for that price its absurd.
It’s very cool but tbh you can buy pretty much the same wheel but it will be from the Ferrari SF1000. It has the the screen and a lot of buttons that are on the actual Ferrari SF1000. And it just costs 350€ or something. Yeah it’s just a wheel add-on but if you compare to this one that costs more than 2000$ then I’ll pick the Ferrari one.

Value proposition for non pros is extremely low. Most of us wont use the wheel to its potencial or for what it was made. For that price I can buy a fanatec dd wheel with the bmw rim and their formula v2 rim and a set of csl pedals with loadcell. Te difference in quality will not be that noticeable for most of us and you will be just as well served. Sure that one might "feel" nicer in your hands but it is not worth 10x the price of a fanatec rim (I stree again that this is for us bot for professionals. For pros it is another argument). I struggle to think of a situation where I have $2400 to spend and ai decide to spend it on a single rim. I could do a full day track day with an lmp2 car for that ammount of money and that will be a lot better.
I get where you're coming from dude. But, there are plenty of people out there that spend £5000 on a set of golf clubs, or a custom shop Stratocaster. To each their own and all that.
@@ChrisHaye i would spend 5k on a fender faster than this because I could hope to be good enough to use the fender for its intended purpose. Further, I will spend about that value on sim racing gear in the near future (that is how I had the cost of the fanatec dd wheel rim and pedals off the top of my head) I just think that this particular item does not give you better performance (we can argue that nothing sounds like a fender stratocaster) and will not provide you with a better experience than a 10th of the price fanatec rim. Thar is my point. If i was a pro sim racer or racer and spent 10 hours a day using the simulator to improve myself and access to all that telemetry on the fly was of paramount importance to me, then such wheel might be justifiable. As is, I just don't think there is anything there for the average joe. Ok, tl:dr, besides the "I want to have one factor", there is nothing appealing about this rim. It doesn't perform better than the competition and the average simracer wont use it nearly ebough to justify the industrial rade cobstruction. Of course this is my opinion and I could be wrong.
yungdadi most sim titles would use all those buttons. You don’t necessarily have to use each button for what it’s labeled as. You can relabel them yourself for other functions. I have 25 functions on my wheel and use at least 20 regularly and I’m only driving FR2.0 and gt3.
yungdadi yeah that’s exactly what I have. The TM ferrari F1 wheel. It’s great for now. It’s super cheaply made but does the job. I can tell it won’t last long though.
I love this wheel so much that I have to stop my self from buying it
Very NICE, thank YOU!
Great video Chris. What a wheel!!!
Does it work on Sim Cube?
Does it have an air bag ?
The price is spare change for guys like max verstappen. But damn it is a good looking wheel.
I recently purchased this wheel. Anyone knows how to make screen show data while playing asseto corsa and Iracing??
Thanks
Contact the manufacturer. They are reliable

great vid.. take a breath every now and then though :)
Sure is a beauty! And a topnotch presentation!! :)
I would rather spend that monay on another shifter though.. :D
I’d pay that price if my life was streaming auto racing.
Beautiful!
and Utterly unaffordable! :(
Bit of a non sequitur but - I'd love to hear of the difference between the two F1 rims for the Thrustmaster T300 / T500 wheels 🤞 (no one's covered it yet AFAICT)
This is a real professional sim wheel period. These are the wheels on million dollar professional setups
Isn't this identical in design to tm open wheel?
what servo does he use?
Two question... Does it work for ps4? And where can I buy it.
Time to manufacture my own )))
Answering the OP question. Hardware wise, Yes. Software, no. It’s weird that such a top wheel at such a price has very little flexibility on the Dash and uses Fanaleds to program the LEDs. At that price point one would expect a dedicated software to come along that gives high flexibility when programming the Dash and LEDs
Its a direct copy of the mercedes F1 steering wheel. Besides from the rotary buttons at the buttom
No its mclaren
Again awesome video, short and informative. £2400 and then not able to cover the shifter wires ? really ?
Why is this not wireless like their GT3 wheel?
Daniel Oliver the wireless gt3 wheel is newer than this wheel design wise - even though the gt3 was released first. They plan on bringing out all their rims in wireless in the future
As @The Great Dane Racing said, they're working on expending the wireless range. That being said, not everyone desires wireless, myself included.
The best add-on wheel is thrustmaster Ferrari 250 GTO
3:45 only if the game steering wheel screen was on the actual steering wheel
Question for the sim racers here. Which game is he using. Is it the official F1 game or something else more high end? I have the 2019 version which I love but always looking for the best experience.
Assetto Corsa.....the car he is driving is the RSS formula hybrid 2019
I just hope you learn to take the corners better when the next wheel comes around.
What do you think about Thrustmasters upcoming F1 Wheel?
Are they real Cosworth shifters or did they make a replica of them?
It is modeled identically to the Merc AMG W11's wheel
That wheel is more attractive than my wife!
😂
Probably more cost effective long-term as well ;)
@@ChrisHaye No Chris, she has more money than me... So I have to tell her how beautiful she is for a few days is if I want anything sim related!
@@frankjames4573 Damn! lol
Does anyone know if this wheel works on F1 2020?
there is a dude on the iRacing forums builds them way better than this and theyre cheaper but about £1200, completely carbon fibre he did a replica of vettels and kimi's and absolutely nailed them
Works on ps4 ?
I really like the fact that it is NOT alcantara, all my alcantara wheel end up slippery becuase the alcantara gets crushed into a solid flat piece of cloth. yes i can clean it and it comes back a bit but always gets ruined quick, and yes i use gloves.
Cool wheel!!
But..
The cable is ridiculous, no quick release??
Price is Bananas..
doesn't matter how good it looks, feels, or performs if nobody but the elite of the world can use it.
ditto small market = small sales to a company that will dissolve one day
@@apocalypticweasel9078 Yeah, I'm sure you're an expert in predicting which companies will dissolve one day. This is a luxury product. Luxury products always have small markets.
@@PocketQuadsOnly and small markets only get smaller and smaller, plus if i was boss of Fanatec i would be happy with them coupling it to my base law suit in coming.
@@apocalypticweasel9078 So are you saying that creating luxury products is just always a bad business? Because I don't think if most economists would agree with that.
I'm not the kind of guy that just throws an "jealous" label at anyone that doesn't like something, but in this case, you sure seem pretty jealous and bitter about the fact that some people have this kind of gear while you don't.
@@PocketQuadsOnly not jealous at all very happy just commenting on the business model even Fanatec realised they had supplement the high end with lower end products as did Thrustmaster the 2 go hand in hand otherwise you just end up limiting potential sales to just those that can afford it.
They would make even more money if they make them compatible for consoles.
While you could make them fit console compatible wheelbases, I think the difficulty would come from the software needed to run the LEDs and the Screen.
@@ChrisHaye do they use their own wheelbase on PC?
Have to agree. Value proposition is not the right term. Its a fine piece of engineering but doesn't really hold value for sim racing.
What a superb bit of kit!
Worth every penny in my opinion even though I am about 239,500 pennies short 😂
From this video it's safe to assume this wheel has plenty buttons you can't use in current titles. I wonder why bother
yungdadi most sim titles would use all those buttons. You don’t necessarily have to use each button for what it’s labeled as. You can relabel them yourself for other functions. I have 25 functions on my wheel and use at least 20 regularly and I’m only driving FR2.0 and gt3.
@@robertmason3752 in that case u don't need this wheel. A thrustmaster will do the same job
yungdadi yeah that’s exactly what I have. The TM ferrari F1 wheel. It’s great for now. It’s super cheaply made but does the job. I can tell it won’t last long though. One switch is broken after a month. But your right about that, this would only be if I had that money to burn. Which isn’t the case at the time. But this summer is looking very promising.
