That’s a man’s man right there . He was a damn good rider and has nothing to prove in terms of training either but I really looked forward to seeing him on C4 racing back in the day cos you never were quite sure what he would say next . He wasn’t scared to present his true thoughts , an odd swear word would sometimes drop on live air and it was all part of his personality , his honesty and his sense of fun . He could be quite intimidating at times but release the tension in the next breath with a funny one liner . He’s retired with his health and with my good wishes , good man Ted 👍🏴
Ted did the right thing, no long goodbyes or glory hunting. He has been an icon in racing punditry/commentating. His honesty, knowledge of horses and way with words were his strengths. Well done Ted.
As a young Amateur Ted rode our horse Stable Inn to win by a mile in the getting out stakes bumper at Downpatrick in 1967 2:56 who I had nursed back to tiptop over 8 months hosing his old leg for an hour every day . Walking him around the ring he said he’s a bit lively and I said you’ll thrash this load of old donkeys and he came up the hill backed from 16s to 4/1 and won by 20 lengths . One of the happiest days of my life . Ted your a legend have a wonderful retirement!
I've followed the great sport for over 30 years, and in my opinion, Ted, was a brilliant educator to me on the sport, so I wish him the best of luck in his future.
We are in Woke mode from here on in,No place on the airwaves for the Ted's or Joe Brolly's of this world,I just turn down the sound and watch the pictues, Happy retirement Ted!
He made a tool bag the time down in Galway complaining about the price of a bag of chips that the Galway business where ripping people off .the chamber of commerce told him it’s the one week we have to make the price of the rates.and if you had to depend on ted you would not make a living him driving home every night.
@@1414yorks big time he was in a chipper in Galway during race week and when looked at the prices he said to the chip man that he could buy a bag of spuds a ten kilo for what he was charging ,haggling over fifty pence
God Help us after Ted and Robert retired were left with 2 or 3 librarians his son included. Watching rte racing now is like watching paint dry. Where is the famous Irish sense of humor not on RTE for sure. Get Hector on to lighten it up a bit.
