- An emotional day for all here at Punchestown as Ruby Walsh, one of the greatest jockeys of all time, announces his retirement with immediate effect after winning the Coral Punchestown Gold Cup aboard the Willie Mullins trained Kemboy.

A great man, the greatest jockey by far, rode them all to sleep when it mattered, fell on Annie power and came back and won the champion hurdle on same horse, that’s what great champions do, glad he’s retired and safe, long live the King. 💪🏻

The best I ever saw. I remember him getting half days off school in Rathcoole to go racing in Naas or Punchestown. Commanche Court in the Triumph... Papillion in the national. Great days great memories. Enjoy 'retirement' Rube, you're an absolute legend.
