      @@amkfitz1535 the pendulum swings both ways, with two minutes to go Cork win a free out when the defender was pulling Aron Shanahers shirt, the ball went straight down the Clare end to bring it back to just a point, had the decision gone Clare’s way, there wouldn’t have been any extra time

    I am from India and was in Cork for the first time last week. Witnessed the game while standing in the crowd infront of Clancy in Oliver Plunkett. I must say I was awed by the sheer skill of this game and how I loved every second of it. I wished Cork won, but well, they did really well!! I’d keep coming back to check if I can see one live someday ❤

    This is my first 19 minutes of watching Hurling, and I have to say this is the greatest game in Hurling history.
    I never knew this sport existed. I will be watching highlights and learning about the sport from now on. This is awesome!

    I am Italian, I love many sports one of them being Gaelic football (I am a Mayo fan). Having said that hurling at its best is above any sport in the world, this final was unreal, unbelievable, best show on the planet. I love the GAA

    That was arguably the greatest match in hurling history. What a majestic display of passion, skill, energy, finesse and strength. An almighty clash for the ages. This should truly go down in hurling history. The only match I can think that rivalled it is the 2009 All-Ireland final between Tipperary and Kilkenny- another all-time epic match.

      @@LuDel95 the 2014 final between Tipp and the cats was also an epic that was ended in a draw when Bubbles Mcgrath narrowly missed the last puck of the game. Tipp however lost the replay.

    Most of cork seems to have been at the match … they witnessed two excellent teams playing hurling to an incredibly high standard. Well done to both teams.
    The two goals which were scored at about the 16 minute mark were sublime.

    Some match this was. Here in Ottawa, Canada, a local pub was showing the game, most of the lads from the local team showed up to watch. It was some craic in that basement pub, being at the match must've been incredible. What a sport, what a people

    Tony Kelly was the man of the day no doubt but from the semi final i think without the 2 keepers performances in the 2 semis it would have been Kilkenny Limerick all over again and Eibhear Quilligan was class in the final too

      Its like me with rugby watching it all my life and still don't understand it.Hurling is simple all you need to know is that the ball can't be touched or lifted of the ground with the hand and the ball can't be carried for more than 4 steps in the hand.There is much more but that is the fundamentals

    It was a truly epic final and I watched it in a pub in London - The 12 Pins in Finsbury Park and we were absolutely enthralled by all the drama - The only thing I could be critical of was the Limerick ref was slightly biased towards to Clare - Towards the end of extra time Cork had a couple of free chances denied which proved critical to the end result - Small margins

      Its called hurling, you hit the sliotar (the ball) with the hurley (the bat) and try and get it to the post, if you get it in the net, its 3 points, and if its in the two posts, 1 point, not alot of other rules apart from that since they also just beat the shite out of eachother

    Okay, here's a potentially stupid question - why are there so many different colored helmets? I'd think that they'd all be wearing helmets that matched the uniform colors. I know that GAA is still amateur, but are the players having to buy their own helmets?

      @conorkavanagh4608 I figured as much. I know that GAA is amateur, and based largely on volunteers running things, but still. My only other guess was that with the clubs being County-based (right?), maybe the different-colored lids were from local clubs within each county.

    I have no idea what I am looking at, let alone figure out the rules. Off to google to check out the possession rules, which to me are impenetrable.
    Hands, racket, bouncing while running, holding the ball while running or passing…
    I am so confused.
    But the spectators look like they are having a lot of fun and playing it looks even more fun.
    Looks like a bunch of Squash players were fooling around a rugby field before they took off the football goals and came up with a game they could play.
    The helmet and face guard likely came later, after a few concussions.
    I’d hate to see a bench clearing brawl in this sport. Good thing handguns and hand grenades are not part of the standard equipment.

      Thankfully , the abuse and booing by Cork supporters towards opposition players in the semi and final was a disgrace. There's a word in my head for them but the comment will get removed so chav is an apt description. Wannabe English council estate chav's.

      @FazedShotz so that wasn't a 65, the free wasn't a penalty and didn't deserve any card, horgan wasn't fouled through on goal and the jersey wasn't pulled for the last shot. Is all of that right? If even one of those decisions is wrong the game would have ended in a draw at least.
