Big Bands Big Sounds Rock n Roll era 1969 - 1974… with Buddy Miles Express + Chicago Transit Authority + Blood Sweat n Tears + Edgar Winter’s White Trash etc.. ❤
One of the great things about ABC's In Concert is that a local FM radio station would simulcast the audio, so you could have great stereo sound to go along with the video. Television sound is much better today, but back in the early 70s, the radio simulcast made a REAL difference.
@@julianwilson2926My brother had a HARMON KARDON 530 AM/FM receiver, a pair of INFINITY ♾️ speakers, with a GARRARD direct-drive turntable . He played & recorded the entire CAL JAM I CONCERT from ABC Network on that thing.
I saw Buddy at a concert he gave at the Little Rock AFB in 1975 or 76', I'm like 20 yrs. old and with my future wife at the time. After the jam I spied him on the side of the rec center helping a crew member back out a motor vehicle. We walked over to him and started rapping. I asked the usual fan questions and he was very cool. Next thing I know we had a joint lit and it was a such a heck of thing to me so I just gave him my whole lid. Evelyn an I dug the scene realizing that he was on a schedule and had things to do so we shook hands and that was that.
The Big Show. Great! In the early 1970's, Buddy Miles came to town (Spokane, Wa) and played at the Kennedy Pavilion located on the Gonzaga University campus. I and my Bass player had no money so we stood by the back doors where right on the other side, the stage was set up. There was a break between bands and what do you know, The door opened up and out stepped Buddy Miles in his red white and blue flag leather jacket. Maybe for some fresh air before playing or maybe to have a smoke. He asked us what we were doing and we told him we were just listening to the bands from outside. He said, come on in and we suddenly had front row privilege right up against the very front of the stage. At the end of the show, someone else sat at the drums and he grabbed an old gold top Les Paul guitar and played a song and went in to a solo. He was slinging it hard and waving his head back and forth while playing and we actually got hit with some saliva or sweat flying off of him, not sure which. After the show ended, we stepped up on to the stage and we gave to him our thank you's and exchanged hugs with him. It was a different time and the big stars were still approachable. We also spent some time in a trailer behind a local night club smoking the bad stuff with Lydia Pense of Cold Blood, just her and us. It was surreal. It was also a great time when none of us younger people were hung up on racial nonsense and we attended events like this shoulder to shoulder. Later corrupt partisan politicians began sowing division amongst us all with lies and with the help of the compliant media. So happy this video was posted. What great memories.
When I was 12 my guitar teacher invited me over to his place to hear his band rehearse. They played "Them Changes". The next day I formed a band and the first song we learned was "Them Changes".
I saw Buddy Miles in Lodi, Ca. 1972😮. Elvin Bishop, Buddy Miles and Fleetwood Mac in the Bob Welch era. In that order. Elvin Bishop put on a great show. So did Buddy Miles. Buddy Miles switched from drums to guitar. A right hander playing guitar left handed. Sounded so much like Jimi Hendrix. Awesome. Fleetwood Mac took the stage and were into their 2nd or 3rd song when the whole place got tear gassed. Anybody else remember that ???
Buddy Miles,The Guy! Ele faz muita falta na cena musical atual! Hard, soul, gospel, funk,r' n' b,ele era muito fera ,com sentimentos a flor da pele. Grande postagem?

And then John came out I dont know what those promoters were thinking

Spring of 73, beautiful day in the park across the street, $5 per adult ($4 in advance) and kids free! We saw Buddy/Tower of Power Horns, Canned Heat, Elvin Bishop, and Fleetwood Mac. It was a beautiful day and we scooted just before the tear gas. Buddy rocked!

Buddy Miles was a larger than
