Great review and thank you for the follow up video from the first. These are the best iem’s that I have heard but that is the great thing about this hobby is it’s subjective and the only ears that matter are the listeners. I’m actually selling all my higher end iems because these are my end game except I’m keeping my fat freq maestro mini because they are so much fun and my sennheiser ie 600 because I love their resolution and bass punch and slam.
@tonedeafmonk Thank you for another review. I don't like boring headphones and would like something immersive and engaging. I think I'll direct my finances at the ZiiGaat Doscinco, or the Kanon Yanyin II. However, I would eventually like to see your ranking list from the tests and make a purchase decision based on that. I look forward to it.
Thanks for your review and honest thoughts since I’m getting a custom set of these done. The only drawback I see with this set is the lack of excitement/wow factor which I agree with since I demo’d these before making my decision. However this is no problem for me because I’ve always loved a neutral-warm signature which comes with that drawback and is also very hard to find when you go up in price. This is all for intentions a “one and done” set which it will be for me since I don’t really have lots of money to spend on audio gear now and for the foreseeable future since I want to shift my spending to my other hobbies. I think having an essentially black space with this style of tuning and naturalness would be fantastic, plus Hisenior is one of those companies I’ve seen that doesn’t change the sound of a custom in a bad way compared to graphs I’ve seen of custom 64 Audio sets.
I really wanted to, tried to, like this 7th Ann M5E more than I like the Canon 2, but it just wasn't giving me as much engagement. I couldn't get the bass to show me impact, even using EQ and trying 8 different tips. However, having them side by side did teach me to eq the Canon 2's 1k, 2k, and 4k down a little, mostly 2k. so Im glad I tried the M5E, it creates a good discussion about relaxed pinna. One thing the M5E 7th absolutely nails is the spoken male voice. The timber is dead on accurate and natural sounding. Did my listening with supplied 4.4 cable and the Onix Alpha Xl1 dongle and also with the cable from the Thieaudio Hype2 in 3.5 mode.
Exactly that DD kills this set for me every thing else was spot on tonality wise but like the Aful P8 and Cadenza 4 just lacks micro dynamics and can't really express emotions thought pitch changes in volume within a passage or over a entire track.
These are highly tip sensitive. Best is with medium bore tips. Small bore lowers treble too much, wide bore loose bass slam and definition is poor. I ended up using gray tips from Letshouer S12. Everything sounds balanced now, bass is great. I do find them sounding engaging, natural. EST do give special sauce, listen carefully to string instruments and there are a lot more vibrations of strings heard, compared to Studio 4, or SM4
This set has been generating lot of praise because it sounds natural. But im afraid the tuning might sound too dull for me. That seems to be the biggest criticism.
Has you tried devinus velvet widebore on the 10th, got wowed, had dunu s-s before, was just finding as i had problem to find a tip to the voltage as im testing right now
The Kinera URD is based on the same configuration. Actually, a direct compairison could be very interesting I think... However, I wonder if the RSV5 from Softears could be compared to the Mega5Est? I own the Studio 4 and I'm very pleased with this IEM. So, I wonder if I could be even more satisfied with the Mega5 or the RSV5 from Softears. However, I think that we have to be very carefull when it comes to analyze an IEM because the sound change slightly after 50 or 80 hours of listening. Timmy was saying that the Studio 4 was lacking a bit of low-mid and I agreed with him but after around 40 hours of listening, this little default is not present anymore for my ears. The Studio 4 is a great IEM however, how could it be compared to the Mega5EST? It is worth the price and the 100$ more?
Interesting take on them instead of yet another glowing "this is the absolute best (but yet somehow boring) IEM in the world right now. Sounds like I'm more than covered with my Xenns Up!
You are good 👍 IMO gear has to do more for me than just have drivers in them. They have to move me emotionally. Hell the KZ ZS12 Pro X I would rather listen to. And I am this one is at least has me engaged
Ha Ha that made me laugh Thanks 😊 I have been trying to make them shorter because of feedback but yeah when I like something I take more time for sure.
More bass does not equate to better bass for me unless somehow the impedance adapter changed the dynamics of this driver. You would just get more of the same undefined, untextured bass?
Hi, Connecting a phone to a DAC and playing WAV file vs connecting a quality streamer to a DAC, on paper there's shouldn't be a different in sound quality! That's correct? Thank you 🙏
Depends on multiple quality issues. But, that said, the quality of the transport/player/streamer affects the quality the DAC is able to output. "everything matters"
Have you guys tried a DAP as transport/source for your DAC? That's what I use with USB Audio Player Pro for bit perfect quality. I'm wondering how they compare with PC or streamer.
@@radiofreealbemuth Well, yes sort of. I use my Android phone with UAPP as a transport in my nightstand rig's Topping D50s/A50s DAC/Amp. I've compared it to a Rpi4 USB with AQ Jitterbug streamer, iPad, and iPhone. The Android/UAPP is the superior transport/streamer, with the Rpi4 a close second. Of note, my power conditioners and cables, ICs and USB cable are of above average quality Cheers
Did I understand correctly that they first sent reviewers a version of more expensive drivers, and then began selling cheap crap to ordinary people for $500. And you discovered it and they bought you.
You have it all wrong. All the units that got sent out were paid for Firstly and secondly the drivers don't seem to be changed just the tuning. Hope that clarification cleans that up for you. Hisenior is not evil just made some mistakes.
I completely agree. They are extremely well, safely tuned iem. Yet they don't quite have the wow factor
Your review is on point. Thanks for your candidness and authenticity.
I appreciate that! Thanks D Man I know you have great ears.
Still love my 10 AE. Thanks for the review, Monk!

Customs will change a bit a bit I got more bass out of my CIEM T4's
Hmmm i really like these starry glittery face plates. I have also completed my review, need to edit and post it soon. Good review TDM.
I would still pay the $50 more for some of thier custom designes Hisenior does make make some pretty shells!

Use impedance adapter. Bass monster.

agree with your taste changes , me too.
I still enjoy a tastefully done V but has to be tuned well.

Well done!
I'm looking for more bass and easy going treble. Looks like a Xenns Up or me600 would fit that.
Cheers from Canada.
Used Xenns UP on CAM right now.

Ie600 doesn't have very strong bass. I would go with Ziigaat Doscinco, they are amazing!
@@tonedeafmonk I ended up buying these off the link you shared. I'm enjoying them! Thanks again.
