Okay, I see you left an intelligent comment up above. I actually did pick up an extra Juice S2 for those reasons. But I also see that you went crazy the other day and left me like 5 troll comments in a row? I’ve seen some of your other comments on multitool videos on other channels. For the most part you sounded polite and even thanked a few people. So it seems like you have two very different “modes” when interacting on here. What gives? BTW - I remember blocking you like a long time ago, I remember your name, however I didn’t block your new name because I actually liked the comment you left and was hoping you’d contribute more of the same, since you obviously like multitools and Swiss Knives.

"they don't want to walk 20 feet" That is exactly why I bought my multi tool, that and the fact that everyone miss places our tools at work. Having the pliers, the flat head screw drivers and a few extra blades have helped already and I just bought my Truss last week. You really can't rely on multi tools, even Leatherman, if you have a trade job but having something like this close by can really save you some time.

Great review. I have sort of written off Gerber, but this tool is a worthy candidate.
I see a lot of cheap, used multitools and as with the original Leatherman, the Gerber Suspension knockoffs are very common..

Thanks for a very comprehensive (and entertaining) review. Appreciate your occasional comments about your tool testing philosophy. You really put things in perspective when you pointed out the Truss sells for about the same price as the Leatherman Wingman. At that price point, the Truss seems like a tremendous value. I personally own a Leatherman Wave, but I can see the Truss being very appealing to people who don't want to spend $70 - $130 on a higher end multi tool. Nice tip about compatibility with the Ganzo tool extension kit.

I have two of Gerber multi-tools and love them and the features they have. They are great tools for the jobs I expect them to do. I say that I had two types, but really have three since their survival kit which I have came with a mini multi-tool in it and the knife blade in it was very sharp also. The only thing I was not happy about was the sharpness of the Suspension NXT tool.

Always a fan of Multi Tool Mondays. Thanks again. I really like my Gerber Suspension. Originally I purchased it because it was way cheaper than any of the Leatherman Tools. You know what though? I still use it more than any of my Leathermans. I don't know if the changes to the Suspension on either the Truss or the NXT are enough to make me want to purchase one or the either. Honestly... I'd rather just have another Suspension.

  • @charlescollier7217

Thanks for the video, Israel. The way that scissors cut is by shearing the material between the two edges. So usually, when scissors don't cut (or cut poorly) it's because there's a gap between the edges of the blades, which allows the material to pass through freely. That's what was happening with the paracord - it was able to fit between the two edges. If you just SLIGHTLY bend each blade inward, the gap closes and the scissors do their thing.

Got two "old" Suspensions last month at Walmart for $26.00! The sporting goods manager said "this is the price while they last, Gerber's about to do something new". I prefer Leatherman (Surge and/or Rebar), I'll probably gift these Suspensions, but two Gerbers for the price of one is a deal. Great Truss review! Good point about Blue Collar workers and multi-tools. Wow, one would think that Fiskar would make all Gerbers scissor-perfect! Excellent plier-test!! (Channel Locks are my nail-cutters...) Ty.

The guys that have nothing good to say about any other multitool other than Leatherman (surge, wave, etc) remind me of some mechanics I worked with who were snobs about certain name brand tools. Usually, they were not the best and most brilliant mechanics. One of the best/smartest mechanics I ever worked with had a small top box and bottom "roll away" type craftsman box that he used in the military: he was so smart and he could get the job done. Another genius farmer mechanic I worked with could do more with a pair of 8" slip joint pliers than some mechanics could do with a 5 gallon bucket full of high priced tools. A lot fixing things comes down to the resourcefulness and intelligence of the person. To me a multi tool is more of an idea, it's a possibility that may save the day for me, or save the day for a friend. God forbid I have to rely on one to save my life, but I believe many of them could do just that. But in the end it's what is between your ears that is the best tool. I bet most of the time it's the same for most guys as it is for me. I could walk less than 20 steps and get a dedicated tool that would do the job, but it's just more fun to do it with the "MacGyver" tool. I'm obsessed with the things and own high priced ones and low priced ones and I like all of them. I actually like the looks of my Truss. Good review. Interesting commentary and I like the actual testing.

People have reported to me that they broke their Gerber Dime while hard using the tool. Myself almost broke the Ganzo G302B while fixing the toilet of my house but I stopped flexing when I felt it would break. In my experience most of the time you gonna use your EDC tools is around the house so you got to have cheap fixed blades and real pliers and other tools to save your folders and multitools from breaking unnecessarily. I have a Rapala Fixed blade that I saw first at your channel at hand for hard use tasks like opening coconuts and gardening and real pliers for hard use tasks around the house. I will only hard use my folders and multitools if I have no choice.

The tool socks. And that's why I threw it into my fishing box. Use it for as long as it last. It's a shit tool.

Yeah, it would be cool if they came out with a minimalist multitool, something like the Skeletool or Sidewick, but less expensive.

I like multitools but I find all Gerbers too bulky. Leatherman is much better, Victorinox especially.

Yeah the way they flare out makes them kind of chunky, but their more expensive ones don't.

Why do Gerber make they're tools so ugly?

I think they just kept adding cut-outs to the handles until it was the weight they wanted, that's probably why :]
