They are built to twist like that. If the didn't.the frame would break. Even still trucks with caterpillar engine still break the frame right behind the driver side engine mount.
Amazing he could still steer the truck as good as it did when both fronts were off the road. That much torque on the drive shaft and u joints and it stays together is incredible. Wonder how many runs the truck can do before they break.

Because the driveshaft is only rotating in one direction. That truck needs a dual contra-rotational driveshaft...if such a thing exists.
