      I had fantastic experience with Canon CPS back in 2004-2007. I shot mid range cameras and a few pro lenses and they treated me like royalty for free!! I don't think CPS is free anymore. and don't know how they are these days. I had and have heard horror stories about Nikon and Sony service.
      About a year or so ago, a pro photographer friend sold his entire Nikon system (lots of $$$$$) and switched to Sony because Nikon consistently gave him bad service and ignored him.
      Same story going back to 2000-2001, early days of digital. A high profile photographer with studios in LA and NY happened to visit my shop in Boston and told me he sold $40K worth of Nikon gear and switched to Canon. Reason, bad service and being ignored by Nikon. This guy is a nationally known high profile photographer. If Nikon can ignore someone like that, god help the average photographer!
      I happen to know a couple of Fuji reps. Nice people and very caring and attentive. I cannot believe the company as a whole can be that awful.

    I went from Nikon to Fuji but now I'm back at Nikon.
    Sent lenses and a body of to repair but i hade to argue to get my things repaired. They claimed my 56mm was full of fungus when it was obviously dust i asked them to take a second and third look but they refused to touch it. I ended up opening up the lens by self and blow and take away the dust. When you can blow it away you know it's not fungi. There was definitely not any fungi in it. I was blow away by the incompetence at the repair shop in Europe.
    I regret ever doing that switch to Fuji.

But after several emails, with utter contempt, Nikon just kept cutting/pasting the same reply. When I was a kid I photographed a lot. Of course with film because we had no digital cameras back then. I used Kodak film because I liked its colours more than the Agfa film we also had available. Then at one day I saw a film from Fujifilm in its green box. Wanting to try it out I bought it. Put it in my camera (a Praktica IV from Eastern Germany that I got from my uncle) and shot my photos. But when I arrived at the end of the film roll the film ripped. As that never had happened to me with Kodak films I sent the film back to Fuji, told them what happened and expected them to replace it. They sent it back with a 'nice' letter, telling me I must have made an error and that they therefore would not replace it. Basically they told me to GFM.
    As this film was the very first item I bought from Fuji it left a deep impression on the kid that I was, that had only very little money to spend and that was brushed off so harshly. In short: I never bought anything from them again. I even didn't consider their cameras several decades later when I wanted to buy a 'big' camera for wildlife photography which might be a bit over the top. But seeing your experience with them I tend to think that the philosophy in that company simply hasn't changed.

    When I bought my X-T5 I had to trade it twice because the sensor was dusty when I used it straight out of the sealed box. This adds up to the autofocus crap going on and the camera’s they are releasing lately. Some even claim that the autofocus hardware hasn’t changed since X-T3 with some very convincing video’s. Combine that with the huge exploitation move with the new X-M5 that’s nearly a XT-30 but without an evf… the new firmware release of two weeks ago didn’t fix anything. I moved to Sony.

    Welcome to the Nikon family. I started out on Nikon when I was about 12 years old. I’m in my mid thirties now. Since I started with them, I’ve had 2 SLR film cameras,2 DSLR, a handful of lenses, and point and shoot. This Christmas I treated myself to one of their Z cameras with lens kit. I love how they feel in my hand, how they operate, how they render colors, I honestly have no complaints.The one time I had to call Nikon they were nothing short of amazing.

Thinking back on that, I’m horrified because it happened a lot. Lol. Thankfully and surprisingly my equipment is still all in very good shape. I’ve never had to have any repairs done. The one time I called Nikon was completely my fault. I ordered the wrong camera from their site. It was after the 30min cancellation window. I was easily able to get ahold of them and they actually put in a request with the shipping warehouse to cancel my order. I was notified shortly that everything had been canceled. Then I turned around immediately and got the camera I had intended to.

    I'm gonna be honest. I could see this video being titled 'Why I Left Nikon', because the same kind of experiences can be had elsewhere my friend. You only need to join lots of brand groups to hear the stories.
    I think the biggest issue here are two things;
    1) Fuji definitely need to bring a higher level of QA to their range of goods, no doubt about it. My XF90/2 has a very tight aperture ring, the 56RWR completely loose. They need to get on top of various aspects like this as well as consistency with expectations of how the software works in camera. It makes no sense for a GFX camera to use Zone AF with subject detection and implement it in a different (better) way than how the same combo of settings work on the flagship AF XH2S system. One can easily make assumptions only to realise once at home and tinkering with the new and expensive camera that really basic things are implemented quite (frustratingly) differently.
    So... build quality, software consistency, this needs to be pushed much higher if the brand is to be considered Pro. I agree. But on the other hand, 2x XH2S's, 1x repair on the XF90 (likely my fault), no issues, excellent service. It can depend on region I think, Australian service seems competent. Whilst its true horror stories can be had elsewhere, they may be more common with Fuji.
    2) Because they have had AF issues and f/w bungles, it is not taking much to push a user away from the system. I am not at all surprised to hear you leave after that experience. I would too. But I think there is a degree of bad luck here, I have heard similar stories to your own with Fuji as well as other brands. Sometimes life shits on you, fingers crossed Nikon is smooth sailing. Your lens might have been tested before it left, but shipping damaged it, or they fixed something wrong with the camera and something else more subtle avoided detection, seemed fine at testing and got worse in transit. Like I said I think you had very bad luck. I highly doubt they did not test the lens before it left them.
    I think people like yourself, that are on a second repair in such a short space of time, they need systems in place to flag you as high priority and personal service. They should be going beyond simple emails to an actual call to see if you're ok. By the time the rattle in the lens thing, you should be given a free gift or voucher, anything to show genuine concern and care for the customer. This is how you do retention. Now they lost you and any future financial investments forthcoming.
    It's programs in place like this that make all the difference.

      Yes, I agree. I mentioned in my video that I realize stuff breaks. It was the experience with the repair and the replacement and the fact AF problems getting worse over time with each new “fix” that added up to me making the decision, at no small cost to myself, to leave and try someone else. Nikon has released many firmware for Z8/Z9 and each one has leveled up the cameras. So at least they can get that right. Hopefully this Nikon setup lasts and I can have fun in the field for some time to come!

    4 years ago I decided to shift from Nikon to Fujifilm for the size and retro look. I managed to get a X100V, an X-T2 and an X-T30.
    Less than a year later I ran back to Nikon, with a camera that broke after 4 months (sensor failure), whereafter it spent 3 months at the workshop, a 60mm macro lens that refused to focus after a couple of months, and a 16-80mm lens with moisture inside the lens. I think I always handled my gear carefully.

      I have a Nikon D40X, that is like 16 years old, it functions perfectly today; but I have upgraded to new Nikon DSLR DX camera. I had >200,000 click on the shutter because I actually counted the number of photos that I had. The only problem with the D40x is Nikon batteries are so expensive because the camera is so old that 3rd party companies no longer make batteries for it... except Nikon and they are really expensive. BTW I had problems with my Canon PowerShot S100 and Panasonic Lumix ZS50 P&S camera. as the lens won't extended, and both Canon & Panason want almost 50% of a new camera to repair; not worth it too, just bit the bullet and buy newer camera.

    I was shooting with the Nikon D600 when I was living in Cyprus, (many moons ago) and it suffered the 'oil issues' that were well documented after release. They did replace my camera but obviously knew there was an issue as immediately released a D610 remedying the issue. I think they should have replaced everyones D600 after realising issues but i sold and went Fuji XT1. I have 'upgraded' over the years with newer Fuji iterations but recently returned to the T1 and lucky enough to find a mint X70. Prefer the older sensor output after looking through 10 years of jpegs. Did try Lumix GX9, (great AF but couldn't get colours i liked), & similar story after trying Sony rx100 va and iii.

    I discovered the Fuji brand when I switched from an old DSLR Nikon D750, then I went for the XH-2 + a couple of Fuji primes. I was amazed of the photo quality delivered by this gear, it even handles low light much better than I expected from an APSC sensor, at least way better than my Nikon D750. The AF is perfect on mine, I don't care about AI tracking, I prefer to choose where and when to focus and not let the camera decide. However I recognize that the build quality is not on par with Nikon, this is probably where a 2000€ camera cannot be better built than a 4000€ camera. As to the fuji service this is not acceptable, I am sure they delegate this service to some random repair company for cutting the cost. If I had to fix a lense or the body I would not ask Fuji, I will send my gear to a reputable repair shop that I know.

    I used to shoot Fuji (for video mainly) as my still camera was the Pentax K1. I got tired of the two system carry and switched to Sony. The main reason was Sony had Tamron and Sigma as lens options. I went all in with Tamron lenses.
    I had an issue with my Tamron 150-500 not being sharp. I had bought it brand new but did not return it for replacement for months. So, missing the return window, I contacted Tamron and they asked me to send it in. Having owned multiple lenses from Tamron I qualified for their Platinum VIP club. They sent me a prepaid label to send the lens in and paid for it to come back to me. The entire thing took less than two weeks and I had a perfectly sharp lens when I got it back. That is the kind of service you don't see much of these days

    Me too, I left fujifilm (xh2s with 150-600) for a Nikon z8 with 180-600 and 24-70. I'm happy with it🙂 (I also have your same jacket, but red 🤣)

      Nice! I might make a video about why I went with the 400mm 4.5 over the 180-600 when a get more hours in. I also just want to get back out and shooting and having fun.

    So many of us left Nikon for Fuji because Nikon abandoned APS-C after the D300 and pushed owners to go to one of their full frame cameras. There never was a D400 and eventually after many of us left to find our D400 in a Fujifilm camera. Eventually Nikon relented with a D500. I have a friend who shoot sports professionally with Nikon and he seems to have repairs about once a year.

    So many people leaving Fuji because of their quality of services absolutely s***** as hell
    Glad you didn't go with Cannon because now they're putting everything behind paywall firmware and I'm really glad you didn't go with a Pentax because they were actually the first ones to implement a paywall for their ND filters or electronic ND filters and then they've screwed some stuff up and fixed it and then decided well we're going to put five more items behind a paywall for your astrophotography so I'm glad you did not go with them Nikon is your best bet actually and so long as they do not put their firmware behind paywalls You got a good combination

      I have no issue with Fujifilm pro-service they service few of my body’s and lenses and everything went way way better then Sony ….which has no own service at all but half ass third party firm who just refuse to repair anything

      I was commenting on his video I personally do not have a Fuji unfortunately yet and the only thing I'm trying to find is a decent a77 for a lens that I have that is brand new that I got for $75 so trying to find the camera to match is another story again I do not personally own a Fuji
      And it always interested me on how these things work because I would come on to you on his making statements on what I was watching and the graphs and repairs on the computer and somehow someway my stuff ends up under somebody else's and then you guys comment on mine oh well whatever

    This is not an isolated case, ive heard stories too and i experienced it myself, the after sales support and the hardware quality is really bellow the pro level equipment. I'm still a fujifilm user, though I will not purchase any brandnew equipment from them, 3rd party and the 2ndhand market is the best place to go with(at least it already tested)

    Their communication was almost non-existent and the repair portal is utter useless, I sent my X-H2 to repair the hot/dead spot, they replaced the CMOS and I was happy, but they def can do better.

      I never got any communication outside of their automated systems. Then the broken feedback link...at least in the end they got it fixed after 2 other tries and I was only out $35 or so in shipping costs.

      @@jessejayphotography what I meant is that I would not probably write off Fuji (or something) based on bad experience with warranty repair ... and I am saying that as a Nikon guy who owns also fuji camera (and has a semi-painful and expensive experience with Fuji repair service) and honestly, doesn't like it compared to Nikon .. if you already have a z8 however then the choice is obvious .... z8 is certainly fantastic camera (at least spoken of Nikon ergonomics) .. I've bought myself recently second D850 body and I am just determined to stick with DSLRs ... Looking through OVF is for me a pure essence of photography ... EVF feels to me like smartphone on stereoids .. I have z6ii and 24-200 for a travel and I am thinking of to sell it almost from the day one ... from Fuji I have x100 and x100f - both needed a warranty repair Vs my Nikon cameras (and I had almost all FX DSLRs except of Dn) who never ever broke (I was repairing some lenses) ... Have a good light ... cheers from Germany

    One question?!, what do you expect buying cheap lense?, apart from quality it an entry level lense.
    And if you think you will find a good service with Sony or Canon good luck, as they also have quality issues like shutter breaks very quickly on A7iii and A7 4 line also lenses most of them are crap apart from G master series

    • @jessejayphotography
      @jessejayphotography  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      $2,000 is not a cheap lens, to be honest. It’s around standard cost for a decent zoom telephoto.

  • @josh885

    Imo the only fuji cameras worth considering at this point are the GFX bodies. It really seems like GFX is where all of Fujifilm's efforts and budget is going. Anything an ASP-C Fuji body can do, a Nikon, Canon, or Sony 35mm camera can do better and more realiably. With 45 mp sensors you can just use crop mode and it's the same as a 20-24mp ASP-C body. This is why Nikon for example only has one budget ASP-C body on Z mount. With modren sensors and prices of FF bodies coming down, a pro or even prosumer ASP-C body makes no sense in the current market place. Fujifilm gets this so all their efforts are on GFX since ASP-C paired with AF that is behind everyone else, is a loser but that same AF on medium format is best in class.

    • @jessejayphotography
      @jessejayphotography  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’m kinda falling into this opinion. I still think there is room for pro level APSC but the price and weight savings has to be there over FF. Problem is the newer FF stuff is just so damn good and weight difference (and sometimes the price) differences really aren’t large enough.

    The only reason why I'm commenting on this is because you mentioned cost-effective and I don't think Nikon is very cost-effective I use Olympus or OM system what it's called I think you should take a second look for bang for your buck especially for outdoor rugged cameras you can't go wrong

    • @jessejayphotography
      @jessejayphotography  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I actually took a long look at the OM-1 mark 2 with the 300mm f/4. I’ve owned MFT gear in the past. I ultimately wanted a bit better video performance. But use, the Olympus and OM stuff has IP ratings and most all the other brands don’t rate at all for warranty reasons. So good on OM!

    I don't currently own a Fuji camera, but I've owned several in the past. Fujifilm is a boutique camera brand. Their stuff is a lot of fun to use and look at, but it's not a Canon/Nikon DSLR - which I've always described as the Honda/Toyota of the camera industry. They have the potential to be great, but for some reason they don't seem interested in anything more than being a boutique brand.
