Don't forget, Barry White was also a maestro/conductor of his own orchestra, The Love Unlimited Orchestra. They had a #1 hit in early 70s 'Love's Theme'. Great instrumental!
Lorita, I have Love Unlimited's album, "Under The Influence of... 'Love's Theme (Instrumental) is the first track on Side One. Thanks for the reminder, listening to this is on my "TO DO LIST" this coming week.
Hi there you lovely people it's John here from East London in England you're right the Barry White was the walrus of love he was a great man a great singer I remember when they done the interview with him and said do you know your songs have helped create children and he's reply was that's lovely to hear
Barry White was the man. You always knew when he was singing he had that distinctive baritone voice when he sang and when he talks there'll never be another!
@@ellefitzpatrick6339 - that´s what I thought until I read a few articles about it. I’m no voice expert but there experts who have written about his singing.
David Letterman once asked Barry White "Whose music do you listen to when you're trying to set a romantic mood?", and Barry just looked at Dave and said "Dave, with my voice, I don't need music."
Can I just say....I'm a 40 year old white truck driver and there is something just so comforting about seeing u 2 react to some great music. Doesn't matter if it's r&b, rock n roll, rap, oldies, whatever it is....seeing 2 people appreciate an array of music and styles and coming off so sweet and well brought up is just what this whole country needs! The togetherness, the love, the pureness and wholesomeness. I just really wanna thank u both.
I had the pleasure of meeting him at a record store meet and greet and he was the kindest, gentlest and smoothest man I ever met. That man kept it a buck-fitty his whole life!
I also think of Chris Tucker’s first movie in the starring role “Money Talks” he started the movie off singing this song while drive. Then he quotes the lyrics in the movie to prevent from getting killed
One glaring oversight - as good as Barry White’s songs are, I never hear you mention the phenomenal orchestration behind him. Those are not studio musicians. That’s Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra that he recorded with and toured with. During the years when Barry White was enjoying his greatest chart success, his Love Unlimited Orchestra had an instrumental hit of their own. It was so big, that for decades, it continued being used as bumper music that TV networks would play to go from sporting events to commercial breaks. You’ve probably heard it a million times and just didn’t know what it was. But check it out. It’s called, “Love’s Theme” and it’s by the Love Unlimited Orchestra. While Barry White’s voice won’t be heard anywhere on it, you will feel his presence throughout the entire song. It would make an exceptional reaction video. By the way, there’s also a phenomenal version of this song (First, Last, Everything) on TH-cam that’s a duet with Barry White and Luciano Pavarotti. Highly recommended.
In the early 1970's, when Angel Fire New Mexico started being a big thing, Love’s Theme was used as background music while skiing and home ownership was being talked about in TV commercials. I cant hear the song without visualizing a skier, heading downslope, a rooster tail spray of snow behind them.
Though they're enthusiastic, very likeable and hugely watchable, they're remarkably incurious about what they listen to. I wonder if they would actually 'get' Love's Theme.
@@markharris1125 -- I completely agree with you. But Jay and Amber are not unique among reaction channel people when it comes to a lack of curiosity. FINALLY!!! My All Time Favourite Barry White Song!! 70's Classic!! Disco Classic!! I feel the 1970's!! ... "Love's Theme" should be next .. Did you know that Barry White had his love unlimited orchestra where he did "Love's Theme" {The Best Instrumental of the 1970"s}
My Sisters drove from Michigan to Florida listening to Barry White. To this day, they have a bond over his music and can make each other crazy whenever his music comes on. Couple of nuts.
Any Barry White is great Barry White! Really a great tune here. Probably my fav. Great arrangement. Nice move, Amber. Thanks. No no. That would be telling, Amber, lol.
Peter Radcliffe, A friend of Barry's, originally wrote the track as a country song with the title "You're My First, You're My Last, My In-Between", which went unrecorded for 21 years. White recorded it as a disco song, retaining most of the musical structure while rewriting the lyrics.. When he played back the finished demo, Peter actually cried tears of happiness.
Believe it or not, this song started out as a country song, written in the 50's! The writer, Peter Radcliffe, was a friend of Barry's and brought to him, telling him, "maybe you can do something with it". He made it a disco anthem.
Pretty easy to believe, really. You’d be shocked how many times country and R&B artists have covered each others’ songs. Kenny Rogers biggest hit, Lady, was written by Lionel Richie after his Commodores band mates rejected it. Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You was a cover of a Dolly Parton hit (ironically both performed the song for movie soundtracks, Dolly for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Whitney for The Bodyguard). The fact is both styles rely on the emotion of everyday life and don’t like to get too complicated lyrically, so the songs of one genre can easily be arranged into the style of the other.
Barry White had the most sensual voice and style. There was no one who created more romance and love. I still listen to him sing on my old cassette tape! I played his music repeatedly for my grown daughters and they both still love his music! You two make me smile and feel cared about. Thank you.🥰
