  • Can you believe these easy no-bake cereal bars are made with just 3 ingredients? It doesn’t get better than that! I had way too many plain Cheerios lying around after my two-year old outgrew them, and I had to find a way to repurpose them. These sweet and crispy bars are the perfect solution and they’re a snack the whole family can enjoy! This is EPISODE 13 of Bits + Pieces SEASON 5, and for this season, we’re focusing on scrumptious snacks! Thanks for watching, and stop by our blog to find the written recipe here: chefjulieyoon....

    I'm always late at taking my daughter to school so she eats in transit, usually buy organic pre-made bars but I'm going to try these out. These home-made ones are like little hugs....

    • @ChefJulieYoon
      @ChefJulieYoon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Aw I love that you called it little hugs. One tip is that if you want them to hold together a little better, add more honey than my recipe called for...it will be sweeter, but it will hold together better as a bar you can take with you on transit.

      Nice...but keep in mind that you might have to increase the amt of honey and press down hard in the pan if you really want them to stick together. Otherwise they might crumble apart after cutting them.

    I just tried this with Rice Krispies instead of Cheerios and crunchy peanut butter (it was all I had on hand, but let's pretend I wanted more texture in there) and they are delicious! Definitely a little crumbly, so I may have to tweak the measurements, or just use creamy peanut butter, but the taste was phenomenal!

    • @ChefJulieYoon
      @ChefJulieYoon  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's cool because I always wondered if rice krispies would be good like this. Yeah, maybe make the honey and peanut butter ratio equals, or the honey ratio more, and try again for next time.

    Can i use chocolate instead of peanut butter?

      Like melted chocolate to bind the cereal? I have no clue...all I could imagine is that the overall result may end up too sweet. But I honestly haven't tried it with anything other than nut butter so I'm not sure.

    Does it work with frosted flakes?????

    • @ChefJulieYoon
      @ChefJulieYoon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean....it could probably work with any cereal but in my opinion, I think frosted flakes would be too sweet. I think a plainer cereal, like corn flakes would be better.

    can you use Nutella and honey?

    • @ChefJulieYoon
      @ChefJulieYoon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, I have no clue, but my fear is that the overall end result might be too sweet, as Nutella has a ton of sweetness to it already. However, I could see that it could possibly bind the cereal together since the consistency is similar to nut butters.

    • @ChefJulieYoon
      @ChefJulieYoon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried it without the honey but I feel like it won't hold together. The peanut butter alone probably wouldn't be sticky enough to keep the bars from falling apart once you bite into them.

    • @ChefJulieYoon
      @ChefJulieYoon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could possibly work but I'm afraid it might be on the sweeter side (for me, a little too sweet). Also, not sure how well the Nutella would hold the cereal together, but maybe give it a go on a smaller scale as a test batch if you really want to?
