    My favorite part of the movie is when Keller gets done torturing the guy and he’s reciting the Lord’s Prayer and when he gets to the line “and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” and he can’t finish the sentence because he won’t forgive

    • @antithoughtpolice7497
      @antithoughtpolice7497 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Then he also probably can't forgive himself, and isn't expecting the Lord to either.

      The shit you talked about with the tattoos on Loki was really insightful, and clearly you studied the film.
      I'm aware that this film had a whole symbology motif going on, but never bothered researching it or anything.
      So, I'm thankful for that and appreciative. Seriously, keep it up!

      I support you because, unlike SOOOO Many channels now on YT, I actually get something. I hate how trashy TH-cam has become, with reaction channels dominating subscribers and what not. Those videos offer no insight.
      But, dude. You put in a lot of work and research into this and it shows, and I believe a voice like yours could be helpful, from an informative standpoint and just the plain and simple fact being, that I don't dominate the whole video. I have an editorial written up, I'm about to start writing it. I will contact you when it's done, and then you can tell me whether you want to lend your voice and insights to it, if you find the source material interesting! Cheers mate!

    Graterford is a TOUGH very BAD prison, out near Philly. It's definitely the worse prison in the state of PA (and they have lots). Keller's dad likely committed suicide just out of sadness and perhaps shame of the things he seen and maybe even did while being a CO.

    Finally got around to watching this film after growing more of a fan of the director's work from blade runner to arrival. Can't believe how blown away I was by this film with so many details to digest. But this film carries so much weight into reality of our world. I knew there was so much symbolism and religious undertones so had to search for answers. Thank you for opening that door cause this film can teach more then just entertain. Thankyou!

    In my opinion Keller did nothing wrong...💯✔ Alex knew the whole time where the children were and he refused to tell, so Keller did what was necessary to try an obtain the whereabouts of the children...👌🏼 Alex was a sick individual anyways, please don't forget about how he harmed the dog...🧐

    • @M3Lucky
      @M3Lucky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      At the same time, Alex was a victim of kidnapping and traumatic childhood too. So his morality is also blurred; much like Keller's

    • @wptny3339
      @wptny3339 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      that’s so stupid. Alex was tortured and kidnapped, his mind was totally broken. he’s way too terrified to say anything that would compromise his torturer, the aunt. he didn’t kidnap the children or harm them, and for the dog, obviously that was wrong but you can’t blame him because he can’t really know better. his brain is literally dead. Keller practically tortured a scared child, and a big theme of the movie is that he was wrong and lost in his anger until he went back to his faith

    A very in-depth analysis. I don't know if the screenwriter intended for the eight starred tattoo to parallel Noah's family, but otherwise I agree.
    I give the film a slightly lower rating as too much was explained through exposition, via the antagonist.
    Still, it was underrated, and deserved an Oscar nod for Best Picture.

    Things missed mentioning:
    Paul Dano’s character said he had never seen the girls before (which is a lie) bc the aunt said when he let them ride in his RV, she is the one who decided they should stay. Paul Dano’s character is also not as stupid as he plays out... he got his license and also said to Loki’s character that he “went for a drive” which is a quick comeback in the time of pressure Loki was using on him. So he could have saved himself and those two girls, if he would have just told them he saw them.
    Also... When the little neighbor girl said to Hugh Jackman, you were there.. and put tape on our mouth.... what was that about?
    And how the hell did Loki find the neighbors daughter? that scene made no sense. Enlighten me.
    Bottom line, his daughter Jackman’s wouldn’t have been saved if he didn’t capture Paul Dano’s character, which would lead loki back to the aunt’s house, where he could piece together the new evidence he obtained. He wrote off paul dano’s character and the aunt quickly based on society’s tolerance to people who act crazy. So had Jackman not did what he did by capturing Paul Dano’s character and bringing Loki to go back to the Aunt’s house, the daughter would have been dead period.
    Paul Dano’s character was not innocent. I don’t care what they say. Crazy does not make someone innocent. He said he didn’t see them but had enough mental capacity to let them ride around in his RV and obviously pass a driving test, and seen them get in his RV. Not to mention remember where the hell his aunt lived while driving around in it? I’m not buying that bullshit.
    Plus, look at the way that asshole Paul Dano treats his dog.... Innocent? I think not! lol
    Let me know what you think about the neightbors daughter comment and how Loki could find her.
    And what your thoughts are. Thanks!

    • @SoffyChannel
      @SoffyChannel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@forg1vens1nner58 I think Joy's words were purposely misleading. I think she said "You were there...he put tape on our mouth" You were there, Keller was on the property of the aunt.
