This film was bonkers. He made joker and most other villains seem very sane in comparison.I like how its not explained his power is unexplained obviously he is more than human.I think it may be black magic witchcraft.Thebfatherbdoes mention it mocking it while pissed. So i think this kid may of dabbled in black magic. The entire film is so original and unnerving they are all almost souless or complete sociopaths.idk but its wild

Bro I’m just now getting to this video , now, July ‘24, and I’m sold, Colin from True detective season 2 and Jamie fox ? Sold. Miami Vice? Thanks to Amazon prime and my love for the 80s and as well as playing grand theft auto vice city for the first time in 2021, barely, I watched season one of Miami Vice and man. Love eighties Miami and I think a gritty modern take sounds awesome, I’m watching it Hope the algorithm sends this out more 👍🏻

Love Michael Mann but the Asian actress who played Sonny's love interest ruined the whole movie. She did to this movie what Coppola's daughter did to Godfather III. Although, that movie had several other problems...

As a filmmaker, I've always been heavily influenced by Mann and the way he uses silence, lights, blocks and allows grain to help in providing texture. His use of handcam places you in the scene like no one else. This style lent itself to the sort of films I was making at the time, with high stress situations, people in combat and lots of colours.

I felt so bad for Rosemary who just wanted a baby & was betrayed by all of them for their satanic rituals. Mia was definitely robbed of that academy award. Great commentary I never realized the importance of the colors.

Colin didn't work for me personally. I think Mathew McConaughey would've done a better Crockett. As for Foxx as Tubbs, it was a better fit for the movie than Farrel was as Crockett but I'm not so sure that there wasn't a better pick for Tubbs as well.

I remember back in 2006, in a nowhere to be found interview, Foxx was badmouthing Mann, saying " the movie is all about him" , since he was himself on a high point in his career. But the result is Mann 100%, actors are just elements in his broader story.

It is a beautiful film. This is an excellent analysis. I was a fan of the series growing up, and still like it, but this movie ups the ante in every way. More muscular, abstract, restrained, thoughtful, and finally, maximal emotion from guys whose interior world is their careers. It’s fun to watch it once a year and find something new. It doesn’t get old. I’m almost over wanting a sequel, and maybe it’s not needed. But Mann’s Blackhat fills that need, somewhat.

Nope. Even if he didn’t see who he killed as he was killing them, he still made the choice to kill someone in his family and went through with it. There were no specifics beyond that.

Lanthimos always uses sexual shock dialog and acts to disturb his audience. I think it is a lazy way of "shock jockeying" the script to affect the viewer. In Dogtooth, incest and prostitution sex acts are used. In The Lobster, multiple anal sex dialogs and fellatio with swallowing dialog are used. In The Killing of a Sacred Deer, incestuous masturbation, masturbation stories as well as an adulterous hand-job scene are used.

I remember seeing this movie upon it's release in theaters and being wowed. Everyone else i met who had seen this film hated it and thought it was TOO dramatic and the cinematography was unworthy of theatrical presentation yet the only movies they liked we're over produced trash with dialogue meant for a person with special needs. Till this day all these years later, i still look at this film as a monument of breaking the mold of what movies could be at that time. Thank you for making this video.

This is by far the best review of Miami Vice the Movie. Over the years I have grown to appreciate this film . To me , it is a flawed masterpiece. MM is brilliant and Miami Vice is a a true diamond that is only partially rough.
