There are several other cars that should have been on this list. The original defender (over 40 years), 70/76/79 series Land Cruiser (~36 years), heck, even the Nissan Frontier (19 years). The only things they changed in those 19 years were the engine and transmission...in the last model year, 2020. Edit: Japanese pickup trucks, particularly the full size ones, should be on this list. The first gen titan was in production for 11 years, the Tundra was in production for 14. And all they changed in that amount of time was the interior and exterior styling (slightly). Engines and transmissions remained the same. Their full size SUVs don't get any love, either. Toyota finally redesigned the Land Cruiser, but the Patrol has been in production since 2011, and there are no signs of a redesign any time soon.
Also there's an Iranian built Zamyad Z24 (rebadged Nissan Junior) which hasn't changed it's appearance since 1970. Production stopped at the end of 2020, though.

The second-generation Mitsubishi Delica aka L300 in certain territories went in production from 1979 up to the present day in Indonesia and the Philippines. I don't doubt that it'll be discontinued soon, but it being a reliable workhorse, not to mention that parts for the L300 are readily available made it a staple in the countries I mentioned.
I believed the L300 came to Indonesia in 1981 and still in production with very little updates like grilles, added power steering so next year it's gonna be 40th birthday
Very interesting video indeed. I knew about some of them. The Hindustan Ambassador was a rebadged 1956 Morris Oxford. The Mini was designed for Austin first, badged as the SE7EN. The Morris Mini Minor followed. In time there were Riley and Wolseley variations on the common theme. The after market got in the act and produced some that were as luxurious and elegant as a Rolls-Royce. I do believe that the Volvo 140/240 series deserves a mention. 25 years on the market and considered the safest car you could buy for most of that run is pretty impressive. I know the model designation changed, but the roofs, upper and lower cowls, doors, floor pans, and tailgate are the same parts. I believe the 240 is the only regular production car that can boast of 3 consecutive years with zero fatalities.
Yea like the 911 while it was powered by an aircooled engine, although it recieved different chassis codes throughout its lifetime (930, 964, 993) it remained pretty much the same car, so that should be a 34 year production run (from introduction in 1964 until 996 gen in 1998) Would be a good mention in this list, since the 911 is such an iconic car.
Morgan is the true embodiment of timeless cars. Even the Aerosport had vintage styling but from the way it performed and sounded you'd be taken aback by what it could achieve
Americans are still in love with the classic Beetles. I see them all the time here in south Arizona where nothing rusts. My dad had one as his first car too. I'm more of a VW Golf kinda guy though. I always thought of Beetles as discount Porsches lol.
If you can actually find a good used Beetle or like an MK1 Golf GTI in your area then don’t mess that chance man you’re lucky wish these cars are accessible in my country
Technically the Beetle is the first Porsche The considered "first" Porsche and the 911 have clearly the shape of the Beetle, just more aerodynamic. Also the first Porsche had a beetle engine.
In Indonesia i think the longest running production car was the Mitsubishi colt l300 (cmiiw), 1st time debuted in 1981 as a pickup truck and minivan and its still in production till this time but they discontinued the minivan version (idk when they discontinued it) but the pickup still in production till this day the only things that changed from early production until now is the engine, interior feature (a/c, radio, seatbelt etc), and minor changes in exterior (grill design), total 41year production run
The Beijing BJ212, a Chinese offroader, first debuted in 1965 and is still in production today. The only changes were inside the engine bay, mostly forced by new emission laws.
A car definitely missing is the FIAT 124/125: started 1966 in Italy (until 1975) and saw a long, long life as license production in Poland as Polski-FIAT125p and later FSO 125p/1300/1500 (1967-1991) and AvtoVAZ Zhiguli/Lada VAZ-2101 - VAZ2107 (1970-2012). The 124/125 was also produced in license in Turkiye, Ukraine, India, Spain, West Germany and South Korea. Another Italian marathonists were the first FIAT 500 which was built from 1957-1977, with the wheelbase and much of the mechanical underpinnings soldering on in the 126 (1972-1980) and the Polish license 126p (1973-2000).

You missed the Lotus/Caterham 7. This minimalist car debuted in 1957 as a Lotus and was sold to Caterham in 1973 and continues to this day. They have been continually developed to the point that parts from the earliest cars won't fit current cars, but it's still essentially the same thing.
You should have included the uaz 469, it started production before the lada and is still in production with the name "uaz hunter" but its basicly the same thing
The current generation Toyota Land Cruiser has been in production since 1984, while the original Golf was around from 1974-2009 although made in different countries as from 1976-1985 it was made in Yugoslavia and for the remaining 24 years it was made in South Africa
The VW type 1 is an icon with still hold the world record of the highest number of model sold. It is a blessing that parts are still around to get the bugs continue to run. We will see how these classic would survive as the whole car industry transit to EVs.
The Type I has been outsold by VW's own Golf. It's a moot point anyhow because the most sold motor vehicle in the world is the Honda Cub: introduced in 1959 it has sold 100 million units so far and still counting, a figure that doesn't include the countless legal and illegal Chinese clones.
This is a common misunderstanding, the Morgan frame isn't made of wood, but metal. The support structure for the body panels and other items are of wood.
This is true. The actual chassis is Aluminium, while the main body frame is wood. The reason why they use wood is because it is a soft material. If they went with composites or metal for the body frame, there would be too much vibration, making for a harsh ride. They use wood to smooth out those vibrations and make the ride more comfortable. I have actually visited the factory in Malvern and have seen the process of building a Morgan. The process has not changed a lot in the many years the company has been around, only modernised to decrease production time.
Lada 1200 deserved a honorable mention here. This AWD-tuned Fiat 124 somehow was so perfect, its production outlasted the Soviet Union and even entered deep into the modern era. Lada officially made the last of these in 2012, although somehow the production still continued in Egypt until 2015.
I really wish 90s Hondas and acuras continued with same generation as of today. They are perfect as it was. simple, cheap to maintain and reliable. They’re still popular even to this day. Still lot of them on the road in locations where rust isn’t a problem.
Not sure if you might be able to count the Steyr-Puch Pinzgauer as still beeing built since 1971, the Model is still beeing built, but changed company and license about 3 - 4 times, since Steyr-Puch sold the production to Automotive Technik LTD in the year 2000

Ah, this was a great topic, there are quite a few cars that lasted a long while. My favorite on this list is the original Mini. The Morgan is a close second. With that said, I think the last 3 cars are a Toyota Land Cruiser (J70), Mk.1 VW Golf (I'm guessing because of the CitiGolf), and the Renault 4. Other cars that lasted quite long include the Argentina-Spec Ford Falcon (1962-1991), the Lada Riva (1980-2012), Yugo 45 (1980-2008), and the FJ40 Land Cruiser (1960-2001).
Not quite up there with them, but the 3rd generation Nissan Sentra was produced for 27 years from 1990 in its original run, but then from 1992-2017 in Mexico where it was called the Tsuru.
The Fiat 600 was first made in Italy after the war and up to 1965 and then the machinery was sold to communist Yugoslavia and continued production up until 1985 as Zastava 750 #fićo
Isnt theme of this video: Chevrolet Suburban refers to ten different generations of car model. Video is directed towards longest single generation vehicles
According to Wiki, the 126 was only made for around 28 years. My other guess of Golf 1 was only 25 years too. The Trabant ran long too,but that car isnt that.
Don't forget the Super 7, made by Lotus 1957-1972, then in 1973 Caterham bought the rights to the model and still makes it today! Of course, it has evolved over the years but it's construction is still the same.
The South African Datsun/Nissan 1200 and 1400 bakkie(1/2 ton truck) truck had a long run as well 1971 to 2008 and the current Nissan Hardbody has been working his butt off around here since 2002 and are still sold new...
the morris mini lasted so long because every attempted remake of it had a completely different design that nobody wanted making the morris mini outlast it's successor (the austin mini metro). when BMW got the rights to the mini they just designed the new mini as if the design had evolved like the porsche 911 had for the 2003 mini cooper which led to it's success

You nailed it. Why buy a hammer for a nail when a nail gun can do the same thing, for only ten times the price and one hundredth the longevity? You can't buy a hammer any more, only disposable nail guns made with 'new improved' low-quality plastic.
The first and last Beetles didn't really have much common though. It retained the general shape, but very few parts were interchangeable. Maybe side windows and doors, but that's about it. It changed a lot over the years, but unless you study the details of each update you wont notice. Part for part the first Beetles had as much in common with the last ones as the first Corollas did with the latest models.
The major difference between the Type 1 and the Corolla is that while the basic layout and the shape of the Beetle remained virtually unchanged during the production, each generation of the Corolla was a new construction (even changing from RWD to FWD). One advertisement for the Beetle even stressed the fact that of the 4000+ parts, only one (a clip in the boot) remained unchanged. Yet, almost everyone recognize a Beetle on the spot while the majority would have a hard time recognizing each Corolla generation.
Nissan Junior/Miler 140 series was made from 1970 all the way to 1985, then Iran company Saipa/Zamyad make it from late 1980's to current time under the Name Z24

I thought the same thing. The Defender lasted for soooooo long.
Also there's an Iranian built Zamyad Z24 (rebadged Nissan Junior) which hasn't changed it's appearance since 1970. Production stopped at the end of 2020, though.
Honorable mentions:
UAZ-452: still in production since 1965
UAZ-469: still in production since 1972 (since 2003 it was renamed Hunter)
Lada Zhiguli: 1970 - 2012 (produced until 2014 in Egypt)
Dacia 1310: 1969 - 2004 (produced as a pick-up until 2006)
VW Type 2 (T2) (Brazilian production): 1976 - 2013
Tofas Sahin, Kartal, Dogan (Turkish production of Fiat Regata): 1988 - 2003 (production continued in Ethiopia until 2010)
Lada Samara (VAZ-2108): 1984 - 2004 (productuion continued in Ukraine until 2014)
Austin FX4: 1958 - 1997 (produced as a British taxi)

Yes and I have one. Hello from Bolivia
i was waiting for the 911 the whole time 😂
Yea like the 911 while it was powered by an aircooled engine, although it recieved different chassis codes throughout its lifetime (930, 964, 993) it remained pretty much the same car, so that should be a 34 year production run (from introduction in 1964 until 996 gen in 1998)
Would be a good mention in this list, since the 911 is such an iconic car.

Technically the Beetle is the first Porsche
The considered "first" Porsche and the 911 have clearly the shape of the Beetle, just more aerodynamic. Also the first Porsche had a beetle engine.
Or Porsches are expensive beetles

The Ford Crown Victoria would have been runner up since it was in production for 32 years with only minor changes.
The only changes were inside the engine bay, mostly forced by new emission laws.
hmm
You missed the Volkswagen Type-2 (T2), produced from 1967 to 2013. Maybe not classified as a car though
type 2 is beetle
@@NobodyPlayzYT he's mixing things up... type 2 was the t1 (transporter 1), the classic vw hippy van. The t2 (transporter) was the one produced till 2013. Correct me if im wrong
The Chevrolet Suburban (Gen 7) was made from 1973-1991! (18 years)
The current generation Toyota Land Cruiser has been in production since 1984, while the original Golf was around from 1974-2009 although made in different countries as from 1976-1985 it was made in Yugoslavia and for the remaining 24 years it was made in South Africa
Yes...and I have one. Greetings from Bolivia.

Thank-you for the reason why they use wood, I'd forgotten. ;-)

Wow I even liked the sponsor part. You're car entertainment at it's finest
