Yeah that´s a good way to describe Paul... he´s kinda thrashy but he´s trying his best. In the light novel, they didn´t go into details in how Lillia seduced Paul. That scene with her bathing with her door open is anime only (or maybe manga too idk). However, they do explain that Zenith was not at home and not having sex with Paul due to pregnancy, so Lillia saw that as an opportunity to seduce Paul. So even if Lillia says it is 100% her fault, I think it is both her and Paul are at fault.
In the manga, all we got was lillia herself saying she seduced paul, we didnt get a scene. It was during the same monologue where she decides to server rudeus full heartedly
Thank you. I'm checking every reaction of episode 4 for this fact. They didn't include that, which doesn't excuse the behavior, but, that cultural stigma is relevant way down the timeline, as if the anime will have 4-6 seasons.
Yup. Takes 2 to tango. Both are at fault. But I'm inclined to hold Paul more responsible. Since there is a difference in power/authority in that situation, Paul being Lillia's employer.
Swordsmanship is actually absolutely dominant in its range. Paul is actually frightened how well Rudeus did against him at such a close range. If Rudeus had been in a party, Paul would've been done. Rudeus' moves were all about building distance and slowing Paul down so he'd have more time for offensive spells. Then Paul used Longsword of Silence and closed the gap immediately.
I like your reaction, you actually can read in between the lines and make educated guess about what’s going on. Lots of commentators reacting to this episode can’t tell that Rudeus is lying about the whole Paul holding down on Lilia.
Appreciate that. This was clear because Rudy reflected on his appreciation for Lili protecting his relic. Often i do make the same mistake as other commentators especially in Rezero lol.
Regarding the maid's desire to have her child devoting its life to serving Rudeus, you have to keep in mind the society they live in. She's a maid, the father is a Knight who basically rules that whole village as his territory... Yeah as far as nobility goes its not high tier but its a ginormous leap above being a commoner. For a servant, or the child thereof, to be able to live as the dedicated servant/aid/attendant of a noble son, particularly one as gifted in magic as Rudeus is... There's not really any/many career paths that would be better in terms of potential and prestige. So its not like she's consigning the unborn child to a life of slavery, but rather of honorable and respectable service to someone who is worth following. The context is very different from what modern people would think of it being like. I guess an analogy would be like having someone signed up to be the personal limo-chauffeur of a rich and reliable person when the only other, more independent prospects is hoping you can make it as a cab driver in Detroit. Both are service oriented professions but one's a lot more prestigious and would open up doors for future possibilities over the child's lifetime than the other options.
New here, and they're the first reactors that I've watched who actually had a balanced viewpoint on Paul, even said they like Paul. Thank you, because Paul is my favorite character.
@@YaBoyRockLee Yeah really appreciate how you talked about the situation at the end and kept an open mind on Paul, like you guys said yeah he's trash but he's very relatable because he's so human and to be human is to err. A lot of other reactors just dismissed Paul as a scumbag at this episode and hated him, so Its a breathe of fresh air that you guys are open minded about him.
While this is helpful information it might be a bit of spoiler because it might get explained later: Something that wasn't explained during all this and is quite important to shed a bit of light on the situation (doesn't really excuse Paul though) is that Zenith believes in a faith that only allows Monogamy while Paul and Lilia believe in a faith that's ok with Polygamy.
Got to say that this is one of the most entertaining reactions ive seen in this platform, so hats off to you guys and ill keep on a look out for more from this channel.
I don't know will this will anime or not, but in novel it tell that Sylphy parent come to them and tell that Sylphy be to depend on Rudy, while Paul also think Rudy act like he will raise Sylphy to be his woman which isn't good So they think they should separate them to made them growth
The main reason Paul did it like this is because he fears Sylphi and Rudi are growing too depending on each other. So he needed to give those two a bit of space.
@@monster-enthusiast there are two actually, one in which we get to see Paul preform his duties as a knight, the other we may get next episode in which the two of them come to the reason as to why they are separating their kids.
Not gonna lie I was shocked by Paul, never thought he would cross that line. I mean you have a 100/100 wife and you do that come on.... not saying that I don’t understand why he could’t resist tempation specially with her, but you can’t let emotions and lust drive your life... emotional control man. Paul is a good Father but not a good husband... also kinda womanizer.
1. In Paul family they have multiple wives, but Zenith made him promise that he will only have her, Paul promise, but yes Paul broke that promise 2. They do it when Zenith pregnant which Paul at that time he can't do with Zenith 3. Before they married, Paul is like MC of harem manga, he do most females friend, since he is popular (He is S rank, strong, good look, and in the world that polygamy exist), Zenith know that too, probably that also reason he kind of accept the maid (She know Rudy lie to her, but she knows his intention)
People saying Paul is trash when Zenith knew about Pauls families histroy aka full of men with concubines and multiple wives also when Paul and Zenith were in a adventuring party Pauls smashed all the women when Zenith got pregnant they left the party.
they didnt include Zenith's perspective but there was a chapter in the LN that explain her views. I dont remember all the little details but Zenith seriously considers taking Rudy and moving back to her family in the Holy Millis Kingdom. It's not mentioned in the anime but Zenith is a believer of the Holy Millis religion, which believes in monogamy. However, that is not the norm in this world or the kingdom they are currently in. Polygamy is fairly common and she married Paul knowing full well their differing views and how he was a womanizer. She is completely distraught over having been betrayed by her husband and best friend. However, she doesn't want Rudy to be raised in a broken family and so ultimately decides to stay to keep the family together. i really enjoyed this reaction. keep up the great videos!
I heard the studio was only made for this adaptation because of the author rejecting a lot of studios before, his intention for me is to be as close to the Novel as possible. The last Novel adapted as faithfully as possible in anime is both the Monogatari series and Re Zero
@@TheOutsider1115 wish other light novels could pull this off. overlord was a huge light novel and anime and it got treated dirty. Even the 1st season which many considered the best had a lot of missing stuff in it. Edit: I hope when they're done with this one they will get another one to do justice with.
@@BobTheSkull Agree, though I thought the anime was fine as a whole. We'll never know what light novel could really be adapted fully next, though SAO Progressive is coming soon this year
The thing that is interesting about Paul is the depth. My dad personally was a great father. He always spent time with his kids and made sure we were loved and encouraged us, guiding us. But he was not a great husband. He never cheated on my mom but was very unreliable and immature an just couldn't pull his weight when it was need. I think its interesting that people can have different faces and roles and its not as simple as being your bad or good.
Personally, I think it is useless to blame anyone here, they are all humans, they make mistakes, they accepted the consequences of their actions and learned from it and grew as a person because of it. We're not in any position to judge them. The only bad thing that could happen from here is that if everyone in such a circumstances hadn't learned anything from such an experience(and in this situation, this includes us, the viewers).
Paul did that to his son of him and Sylvia so they can grow stronger without each other Because if they would stay together yes they would happy but they would never gotten better for their life
the only thing they didnt show in this episode clearly is the parents being afraid that sylphy is become to dependent on rudeus and judged that its bad for her growth and also rudeus growth too
Yooo that is smart, she does need to stand on her own two feet and make decisions for herself, but because rudy is too nice, he doesnt take that selfish step for her benifit and also his.
Polygamy in that world is kinda the norm but Rudeus' mother came from a country that monogamy is part of their religion so she's really bending her beliefs for this one.
Here is my deep philosophical take on Paul. He did a good job providing for his wife and family for many years. One day he betrayed the trust of his wife. But he was sorrowful of his actions, and wanted to take the hand he had made, and make the most of it. And he didnt want his son to make the same mistakes. So the question is, have you ever done anything that anyone else might consider a deal breaker, even knowing all the context? If so, then unless you judge yourself as just as irredeemable as Paul, then you are worse because you are a hypocrite. If you havent done something similar in scale to what Paul did, and think he is irredeemable, then you have to decide what level of betrayal is forgivable, and what is not. And then you have to consign yourself to being willing to condemn even your best friend, whom you know, other than the offence in question, has one of the truest hearts on this Earth. That is why I try not judge even people I would like to consider evil, and probably why the bible says you shouldn't condemn others.
Just to clarify one thing, Lilia is fucking op, it was said in the web novel before this pregnancy incident happened that she was in charge of a kingdom's royal security before getting kicked out from it because she got badly injured and could not protect majesty properly, she took the job of being Paul's and zenith's maid because she already knew where was she heading to.
also she did it for her safety since having worked on the palace made her learn things she shouldn't so assassins will come to silence her That's why she agreed to the job as maid so that paul can protect her
they didnt really go into it that deep but the main reason that they "kidnapped" Rudeus is that Sylphy was too dependent on him and it is really unhealthy so they needed to seperate them. they only dipped in it a bit in that Paul said to him "what would you do if we told you to stay away from sylphy". it is a bit better explained in the Novel. The adults saw that and took counter measures. if Sylphy grow up a few years without him it would be for the best to strenghten her personality and dont get swepped up in rudeus's.
So ur saying kidnapping the kid and keeping him away from his best friend for 5 years is okay? Out of all the possibilities they could have made they do that? The parents doing that is just selfish. It’s the kids decision if he rather get stronger or stay with the girl.
I think the plan was 3-5 years but I do not remember. Also in the LN there was no seeing Ghis first; it was out of the blue serious fight wake up next to mysterious cat amazon like lady. Next episode you meet my third best girl in the series... she is unique in certain ways and I wonder how they will translate her personality in the anime.
What gets lost in this episode is after Rudy tricks Zenith, Paul learns that Rudy is a lot more advanced in his thinking and stops treating him as his child.
They explain it in the manga and LN that Paul wants them to separate because they’ve grown to dependent of each other. It won’t allow them to grow or get stronger. Sylphy father feels the same way and wants them to be separated. Hopefully they explain it more for everyone next ep. Sadly we won’t sylphy again for a while because this is the start of Rudy’s big adventure he won’t be returning to the village anytime soon except for a quick minute in the future but I won’t spoil why. All I can say is shit hits the fan. Also a new girl appears next ep and she will be the one to stick with Rudy for a while. I love her to she’s awesome. Sylphy makes a big return in the future and helps my boy Rudy when he needs her most but we won’t see that till 2nd season I’m pretty sure I know where this season will end. The rest of the 21 ep will focus on Rudy’s adventure
i mean it's Paul fault but come on we not just going to blame him and not the maid i think that they both hold responsibility(Paul only i little more though) if he going to be punished she should be punished also
Its not that he has 2 wives. Its that he cheated, and apparently raped Lilia when they were younger. You can have a good poly relationship just as long as everyone involved wants it.
@@almostnearlynormal no but she enters a dream like state and needs to be looked after. She also never talks again , making this the last time Rudy talks with her in this episode.
Well, in the light novel Paul had gone one month without sex when he was seduced. Medical science and knowledge in that world is basic, so it's pretty common in the story to see females ban sex the moment they notice they are pregnant.
Like Paul said. The Greyrat family lineage, most of the male is a womanizer. Edit: Paul's father is strict and a high blood. Make sense why would Paul leave the house.
A whole new turn on all that village ladies who admired Paul during his (shirtless) training in the first or second episode.. I mean - too many opportunities for a man as weak as him. Poor Zenith, let's hope he didn't betray her multiple times
A couple of things about how Paul stooped to that... He'd been a womanizer since his tenth birthday. An *indiscriminate* womanizer at that, which got him in trouble with his father. After he ran away at age 12, he eventually ended up in an adventuring party and got close to Zenith. She gave him the condition of marrying her and her alone if they sleep together. They did, and he agreed to marry her after it was found out she's pregnant. He'd been devoted to her for years. Of course he patted Lilia's ass every so often, but details. What got him to cheat was the taboo against having sex when the wife's pregnant. They thought it might harm or taint the baby. So, he was deprived of an outlet for his ever-heightened libido, and Lilia was there with her own frustrations. Problem for Paul is that he had pledged monogamy, as per his wife's religion, and that he did it with Lilia behind her back.
I mean what do you expect when no one else is around and the only "porn like" experience shes ever gotten for all those years is hearing them moan at night xD fair play to the maid for having sex with paul imo. Only Paul is in the wrong, the wife clearly isn't considering the maids personal life and that we all have human instincts
well Paul is good guy in their sense but not good in our sense you know what I mean right? Paul already had done the maid in the school so he had already only little space between them thats what i personally think

"Paul's gonna keep smashing, bro."
🤣🤣🤣
@@VikWax So it is an anime original scene... Thank you for letting me know!
@@gamergrey7436 takes 2 to tango.. the employee seduced the employer. both are at fault, nothing more nothing less.
I like the power system in this series so far, and that it shows that magic and swordsmanship are kinda evenly matched.
Whhhhhaaaat lol. I actually really like paul ha. Rudy is the one i have issues with normally lol. I am critical of the moment and i move on though
@@YaBoyRockLee Yeah really appreciate how you talked about the situation at the end and kept an open mind on Paul, like you guys said yeah he's trash but he's very relatable because he's so human and to be human is to err. While this is helpful information it might be a bit of spoiler because it might get explained later:
Something that wasn't explained during all this and is quite important to shed a bit of light on the situation (doesn't really excuse Paul though) is that Zenith believes in a faith that only allows Monogamy while Paul and Lilia believe in a faith that's ok with Polygamy.

The irony is that bringing roxy up and then her being twice their age😂
I don't know will this will anime or not, but in novel it tell that Sylphy parent come to them and tell that Sylphy be to depend on Rudy, while Paul also think Rudy act like he will raise Sylphy to be his woman which isn't good
So they think they should separate them to made them growth
The main reason Paul did it like this is because he fears Sylphi and Rudi are growing too depending on each other. So he needed to give those two a bit of space.
Lilia: I'm pregnant Paul's kid
Zenith: Oh no.... anyway
Lol they also took out Paul's one good moment and Slyph's dad so he doesn't get any redeeming qualities
What moment was it?

Not gonna lie I was shocked by Paul, never thought he would cross that line. I mean you have a 100/100 wife and you do that come on.... not saying that I don’t understand why he could’t resist tempation specially with her, but you can’t let emotions and lust drive your life... emotional control man.
Paul is a good Father but not a good husband... also kinda womanizer.
Well their bloodline is a womanizer
1. In Paul family they have multiple wives, but Zenith made him promise that he will only have her, Paul promise, but yes Paul broke that promise
2. They do it when Zenith pregnant which Paul at that time he can't do with Zenith
3. Before they married, Paul is like MC of harem manga, he do most females friend, since he is popular (He is S rank, strong, good look, and in the world that polygamy exist), Zenith know that too, probably that also reason he kind of accept the maid (She know Rudy lie to her, but she knows his intention)
and the main lead is pervert.
he way to good with the sword
Yeah, playing sword all day al night

I heard the studio was only made for this adaptation because of the author rejecting a lot of studios before, his intention for me is to be as close to the Novel as possible. The last Novel adapted as faithfully as possible in anime is both the Monogatari series and Re Zero

Ey yo Paul, save some for the rest of us man or tell us your secret 😂😂😂
He works out.
yooo yall reaction is sooo funny
Ha. Thanks. It was a fun episode
What most people don't know is that Paul couldn't do it with Zenith since she got pregnant. Lilia used that ti lute him in.
Paul did that to his son of him and Sylvia so they can grow stronger without each other Because if they would stay together yes they would happy but they would never gotten better for their life
the only thing they didnt show in this episode clearly is
the parents being afraid that sylphy is become to dependent on rudeus
and judged that its bad for her growth and also rudeus growth too
Yooo that is smart, she does need to stand on her own two feet and make decisions for herself, but because rudy is too nice, he doesnt take that selfish step for her benifit and also his.
It'll probably be made apparent next episode when Rudy reads the letter Paul sent him away with.
Maybe in later episodes in sylphies pov
“At least it wasn’t Roxy”
Thinking about it, Paul literally could have
My girl Roxy wanted it bad lol
9:29 XDxd thats right homie XD
Kid didn't get to say goodbye to his mom.
Remember that.
that painful ......
Which mom?
@@thatguy7155 his mom
Just to clarify one thing, Lilia is fucking op, it was said in the web novel before this pregnancy incident happened that she was in charge of a kingdom's royal security before getting kicked out from it because she got badly injured and could not protect majesty properly, she took the job of being Paul's and zenith's maid because she already knew where was she heading to.
also she did it for her safety since having worked on the palace made her learn things she shouldn't so assassins will come to silence her That's why she agreed to the job as maid so that paul can protect her
You mean she a op homewrecker?
they didnt really go into it that deep but the main reason that they "kidnapped" Rudeus is that Sylphy was too dependent on him and it is really unhealthy so they needed to seperate them. they only dipped in it a bit in that Paul said to him "what would you do if we told you to stay away from sylphy". it is a bit better explained in the Novel. The adults saw that and took counter measures. if Sylphy grow up a few years without him it would be for the best to strenghten her personality and dont get swepped up in rudeus's.
Chances are they will show some of that next episode. That part is too important to be skipped.
Yeah most likely they will show it next episode, bur because it's the anime adapation they need to make you hyped of next week, then make a reveal.
This is clarified in the letter Paul left with Ghislane which Rudeus will probably read in the next episode. so, spoilers?
So ur saying kidnapping the kid and keeping him away from his best friend for 5 years is okay? Out of all the possibilities they could have made they do that? The parents doing that is just selfish. It’s the kids decision if he rather get stronger or stay with the girl.
Also the MC was 7 at that point. Taking him away for 5 years is over half his age. That’s so fucked up
Relish the relic. Praise the relic.
15:05 and... it's going to good for Paul's liking.
8:30, you guys are wild man 🤣🤣 Happy New Year Rock and Gang. Been quite crazy over here in the UK but I'm always cheered up when I watch your vids 😁👊🏻
I bet you my man pual had a harem when he was in school
If his story get anime, he probably just like MC in harem, but MC that do all girl (LOL)
Paul is the actual definition of a good father but a bad husbandm

Well, in the light novel Paul had gone one month without sex when he was seduced. Medical science and knowledge in that world is basic, so it's pretty common in the story to see females ban sex the moment they notice they are pregnant.
Finally we will finally meet her
Like Paul said.
In the manga Rudi isn't supposed to meet his little sister's until the next arc
What are you smoking? They're literally shown in chapter 5 lol
@@SkylerNZ hmmm... my bad then it's just that I only remembered Rudi seeing one of his sisters when he beat his father up
A couple of things about how Paul stooped to that...
Real talk I bet the parents were thinking "Rudy wants the money, but the girl might be a good digger...."
My favorite part of this anime is how flawed everybody is.
I mean considering the setting. Polygamy was normal back in the old ages as well.
Yea. We mentioned at the end
I mean what do you expect when no one else is around and the only "porn like" experience shes ever gotten for all those years is hearing them moan at night xD fair play to the maid for having sex with paul imo.
