Is it weird I just watch these videos for just like a laugh, I'm a 13 just year old girl without a farm but you seem like such just such a likeable a person, Thanks Angie you always make my day a little bit better.
Angie, I know you asked in a TGN video about the office/homeschool room: I personally think just one couch and a table will make the space more versatile. Some kids will study better on a table. The couches would be great for reading.
Amen I completely agree about the fact that kids can learn SO much more by doing real life than a worksheet, I think that is what we need more of, teaching our children how can function in the real world!!
You may want to consider hiring a farm/household intern for the summer. He or she could trade work for the opportunity to learn about taking care of a hobby farm for work. I see the rv is still there, so perhaps he or she could live there. There are many college students who don't have homes to go back to for the summer and would perhaps be eager to trade room and board/stipend for work.
I love physical labor too! It feels so satisfying! I’m glad to hear there are other people like that and I’m not crazy! 🤣 I’m always doing projects around the house and yard.
What's you said about projects/ physical labor being rewarding and measurable in your efforts' success placed against the often endless pile of motherhood tasks and not always seeing the proof of your work-- YES! So well put!
I would love to have like a "one year in"-tour with an update at some point. You changed so much from just a house with a garden and some land to so many new areas, buildings and animals. I don't know if drawing the layout/doing an animation would be within your means, but it could be a cool summary. You did so much in so little time! I think most people would be really impressed/inspired even now knowing what you have accomplished. Edit: Oh, you are already doing a "Meet The Animals"! Well, I'm looking forward to that greatly!
Great video, lots of information.lm past the years of doing this, but when my 8 were growing up,we had a Nubian goat. He'd jump on their beds, loved to ride in the car,and the kids would haul him around in the basket on the back of our 3 wheeld bicycle 😂We also had a pig that would come in the pet door and get in bed with them! We've had fish, guinea pigs, hamsters, dogs, cats.Lots of fun!Grew a huge garden, canned green beans, new potatoes, put stuff in the freezer. My parents were caretakers of a1,700 acre cattle ranch,so we fed cattle, rode horses.Lots of great memories! But now I watch you and others and remember those days fondly! So thank you for sharing 😀Hugs from Missouri 🤗
We are working towards a homestead as well. It takes a lot of time to get things together and my husband and I both work full time so it feels like baby steps sometimes. We have enjoyed making maple syrup for 20 years now, we have chickens, gardens and my husband does some bee keeping as well. We also heat solely with wood from our property. It’s going to be so fun to watch your journey!
You are such an absolute cultivator of life. All life. Plant life, animal life, human life.... You just seem to be pouring life into everything around you. The value of life is bubbling forth from you. :)
This is not about the animals but thought you might read this here. A great coffee table for the shed would be one that has the lift-up table and storage in it for the homeschool usage. Enjoy ALL your videos.
My biggest question has to do with the area where I have the most mom guilt when it comes to parenting, HOW do you do all that you do and still provide one-on-one/play time with all your kids? I am a stay-at-home mom, have 3 kids under 5, a dog, cat, and I homeschool. With this load (including maintaining the house, cooking, etc.) I struggle to give my kids the one-on-one play time they want. They all play so differently, so doing activities together is difficult, not to mention my one year old is impossible to keep around my older kids toys, activities, etc. I can barely do anything for myself, let alone finish a single project since all my spare time is dedicated to one-on-one time with my kids. I see all the projects you do and just think HOW!?! Genuinely curious.
🇨🇦you are lovely! I enjoy your YT so much. You are humble and forthright-truly a pleasure to watch. I'm a city senior, with grown kids and 3 adorable grands and I always smile when I see a notification from you. Be blessed. You and your family are a blessing,
You are totally living my dream rn! I’m loving seeing your journey to homesteading. It’s so interesting to see how different people do things and how different people choose to live. I love that your kids get to be wild and run free. That is such a great childhood to have. Rosie really is a girl after my own heart staying inside when it’s hot!
Speaking of figuring out as you go: bring a table and chairs in the homeschooling area and then see where you like it/fits well. I do think it would be useful to have a proper table in there.
Angela I would really recommend FLOW hives for beekeeping. Its a different way of keeping bees that may be more cohesive with all the animals and children. You don't need suits or to stun the bees. The hive is clear so for educational and fun viewing purposes its perfect for the kids. Its super easy for the whole family to access the honeycomb and harvest the honey!!!
Truth about being a mom! Or just any stay at home parent. One day my husband came home, looked around and asked “what got done today?” I looked at him and replied “I kept our kid and dog alive!” We both laughed. 😂
Somehow I missed that your mom raised Nurse mare foals. I have raised several and worked at a horse rescue and rehab that rescued nurse mare foals every year during foaling season. It is a *very* brutal industry, but raising them is so rewarding
I feel like we are buddies from Instagram interaction so this is so fun being able to actually comment on a video! Maybe someday they'll allow comments back on ThisGatheredNest 🙏🏼
you are such an inspiration! i really enjoy hearing you talk about farm animals and adventures as well as homeschooling. i’m just about to graduate high school and your lifestyle is something that i really admire and hope to have at some point in my life😊 thank you for sharing!
I've learned that cows actually love to walk around forest-y areas and foraging a bit / nibbling on branches. So you might not have to clear as much land as you think for them? :) On the other hand though, cows are super social animals and need a *herd*, so it might still be a problem of how much space you have left on your property.
My family ate duck eggs when I was growing up. The yolks taste amazing, but the whites are more bland and also a little more rubbery. So they work well for scrambling so everything is blended together and consistent, but not as well for boiling or frying. And yes, they make things taste very rich when you cook with them 😊
Use animal wood pellets instead of pine shavings in your brooder. In the ducks brooder put doggy pads on one side of brooder with water and wood pellets on the other side. Oh and chickens are so easy once they are outside
Regarding the kids playing outside, would you be able to pop up a sign for people coming onto the property to use caution? That may add a level of peace of mind 💛
The easiest way to keep bees is in a "flow hive". Flow hive is a very informative hive for bees from Australia. We have it and love it. It makes a lot of the bigger things you need for keeping bees unnecessary. It is more expensive than a regular hive, but it's worth it. And you can harvest the honey on a chilled Sunday afternoon, with all the kids around. Plus it is way less harmful to the bees. Greetings from Germany, I love your channel. Angie, you inspired me so much on how much is possible in life
I have a duck that we got that had defects. It bonded with one of our healthy ones and they love each other. We haven't had any issues and the healthy duck protects the sick one
I've really enjoyed eating arugula. It grows super quickly and can be planted twice a year! Highly recommend for salads, sandwiches, and pizza toppings.
Both of those channels you mentioned are good ones for sure. Another of my personal favourites is Art and Bri. They're a lovely family, Art is a fountain of information and they have a beautiful property with pet animals, animals being raised for food, chickens for eggs, etc. goats (incl Nubian), etc. Bri loves her Nubians 🥰
I wish y’all lived close to me, I have a couple cleaning jobs and I’d certainly give you a quote on a couple hours a day or whatever you wanted. That’d be such a cool job, just to bring my two kids and let them join the pack and do up all the dishes and laundry and floors, etc. also, I love your shirt but it reminds me SO much of my Nana’s night gowns. 🤣 In a good way?? Hehehe
Thanks so much for giving us so much of your precious time.who knew I would be so fascinated by hobby farming.I am a city dweller.I wish I had even an ounce of your work ethic.the brannifs are definitely my favorite online family.lottie sounds hilarious.
I LOVE me some Justin Rhodes! I live in a neighborhood with a SMALL yard in far north Ft Worth (where everyone else has ranches and cows) Texas and I became a member last month and I'm looking for land. It's WAY expensive around here but we are praying for a miracle! we will be raising our meat and eating their eggs and drinking their milk but we will give them their best life until that 1 bad day! OK but let me add, we LOVE to cruise and we LOVE Orlando! We have been 3 times ( more than a week each) in the last 16 months. 2019 was a HARD year so we lived our best year in 2020 doing all the things my dad always said hw wanted to take us to do!
We have been milking our goat for a year now and we made the switch to to goats milk and just didn’t tell the kids and no one ever noticed. Goats milk is so much better, closer match to human breast milk.
Love this video as I knew I would! Angela just an idea. Could you not put in some extra gates or some kind of slowing measures for the delivery vans and maybe some signs that say 'CAUTION CHILDREN PLAYING' along the driveway. Just something to think about to put your mind at ease. I would be worried too 💗
I can’t believe no one in your house likes radishes. Fresh picked radishes make me so happy. We have such a short growing season here so being able to plant them a few times is great. We fight over them when the first few are ready to eat.
Are you going to get a large table for the children to learn at? I've found out in my experience that if they are not sat a table. They get easily distracted. Love both of your channels. Makes my day when you upload a new video. Xx
I am allergic to chicken eggs but not duck. So I have always bought both. I have mixed both together for the family (egg salad, scrambled) and no one noticed the difference. of course I didn't announce it.😁
Yessss I feel that physical work and proff type feeling as a stay at home mom I started seed and they make me so happy and feel so accomplished because I did that and we can see that I did that lol
About being nervous about delivery drivers going fast and hitting the kids... maybe consider putting a stop sign on your property! Even if it makes ZERO sense to have it there, people will automatically stop because they have to do it everywhere else
Angie: 'I thought I was going to marry a farmer and live on a farm etc' you and me both 🤣 Married someone the complete opposite but he's the person I needed the most. Funny how God does that sometimes
I live in a rural area yet trac home... we always sleep with window open. Maybe y’all can set up security system at the perimeter? Or something creative so you can sleep well. This was a really entertaining video!! Thank you!
We raised butcher chickens one year and it was so disgusting we never did it again because none of us wanted to actually eat them after the whole process 😂.
a hint - female animals generally are kept for breeding./milk production. It's ok to name them! Male animals, however, I would be hesitant to sell any because even though a person swears that the animal would be kept for breeding purposes only, there could come a day when..... At any rate, I wouldn;t sell any unless intended for the meat market, Now - re the cute little buck goats - horns look so cute and all - all the way up until the little rascals accidentally put out an eye of one of the kids, castrate an adult human, hurt someone. With our family- as much as I liked the look of the horns - they had to go (BTW - you can :hollow out" the horn to make a horn you can blow, or keep whole for a powder horn, etc. ) At any rate, one thing I quickly learned (the hard way, of course) was to NOT NAME the castrated buck goats that were going to be sold or end up on the menu. Naming animals makes them more known to you and I';ve wept many a tear as an adult over the animals that I had named.
You may have mentioned this before but where does Aslan sleep? Does he have a dog house or does he come inside at night? Absolutely no judgement at all, just the mental image of his big floofy self in a kid sized bed made me chuckle. ❤️
Jerseys are really cute cows indeed. We once had a horse living among the cows on their same fields, but I don't know if that works the other way around, especially since horses are a bit more cliquey.
Oh I know what I keep asking every time you post and I forget lol. I thought your parents were going to build on your property? Is that longer a plan? I have never heard you guys mention it again.
On duck eggs: they do bake very well and they taste like a richer chicken egg. But you cannot use the whites to make meringue. They will not fluff. Too much fat in them.
We had a few goats that like to escape so we bought a large amount of tall dog kennel fences & put them up around goat barn & only one was able to escape when she was a baby.
I'm a little heartbroken. I can only access TH-cam and I don't want to miss anything that has to do with the family or animals. :( I love your vlogs. Always look forward to them.
I would say get some fresh dill if you make food with tomato-based sauces a little fresh dill WOW I know it sounds odd but someone told me to try it now it's a stable also fresh dill mixed with cream cheese on crackers or bagels
If you have never checked out Living Traditions Homestead here on TH-cam I highly recommend their channel! We have a small family dairy farm in Upstate NY and this month my 2 daughters and myself were all gifted Jersey's for our Birthday's 💜💜💜
Hi I'm leanne and new to your channel and loving it so far.....working my way through your videos. Your house is stunning 😍 look forward to your journey from across the pond 🇬🇧 ps: duck eggs are the best yum 😋

This is an incredibly esthetic interview shot. The coordination of colors, the light; how beautiful your are, just gorgeous. All of it!
Is it weird I just watch these videos for just like a laugh, I'm a 13 just year old girl without a farm but you seem like such just such a likeable a person, Thanks Angie you always make my day a little bit better.
Can you give us an update on your sister Ash? We miss her SO much!!!

A 52mn video 🎉 and I’m sitting on my bed with a bowl of noodles💃🏽 Ain’t life good?!😂💃🏽
You may want to consider hiring a farm/household intern for the summer. He or she could trade work for the opportunity to learn about taking care of a hobby farm for work. I see the rv is still there, so perhaps he or she could live there. There are many college students who don't have homes to go back to for the summer and would perhaps be eager to trade room and board/stipend for work.
They sold the RV
This is a really good idea!
You can put a sign in the drive for the drivers. Something like "Kids playing"
I truly admire that about you and CR is how nothing gets in your way and you tackle everything yourselves 💛
So glad Poppy is okay! So sad that she is blind in at least one eye, hopefully she has a long happy life with her sisters and your family!
I would love to have like a "one year in"-tour with an update at some point. You changed so much from just a house with a garden and some land to so many new areas, buildings and animals. I think most people would be really impressed/inspired even now knowing what you have accomplished.
Edit: Oh, you are already doing a "Meet The Animals"! Well, I'm looking forward to that greatly!
I watch a lot of family channels and you are by far the classiest family vlogger around and I love your updates :)
I love when you get loads of questions, it just shows how well loved you and your family are and how many of us enjoy watching x

Put speed bumps and signs, slow down, kids at play. Put a stop sign at a critical spot that says stop and look for children and animals.

Missed the barn cat!
I was thinking the same thing. Lol I wouldn’t be able to keep up with keeping track of that many animals. Haha
Id completely forgotten about the bunnies, havent seen them in a while. Thank you for sharing all of this with us 😊
Speaking of figuring out as you go: bring a table and chairs in the homeschooling area and then see where you like it/fits well. I do think it would be useful to have a proper table in there.

Bees are so important for our planet, and your plants are going to be healthier with bees 🥰

The Rhodes family also has inspired our homestead! There is so much joy in this lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your views!
Also could you maybe to a night time routine and a homeschool routine I feel like its absolutely amazing you do so much!
I've learned that cows actually love to walk around forest-y areas and foraging a bit / nibbling on branches. After you had to replace the fence did you regret not choosing the house with no fence? I adore the house you are in. So much character
Aaaaand thanks for the top recommendation... I slid down that Free People whole and have two tops and two dresses coming now. 🙋🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️

I am allergic to chicken eggs but not duck. So I have always bought both. I have mixed both together for the family (egg salad, scrambled) and no one noticed the difference. of course I didn't announce it.😁
Yes! House Q&A with Mom!
Yessss I feel that physical work and proff type feeling as a stay at home mom I started seed and they make me so happy and feel so accomplished because I did that and we can see that I did that lol
Very informative and interesting! Your blouse is so pretty!
About being nervous about delivery drivers going fast and hitting the kids... maybe consider putting a stop sign on your property! Even if it makes ZERO sense to have it there, people will automatically stop because they have to do it everywhere else
Hi Angela nice to see you on your channel keep safe❤
Angie: 'I thought I was going to marry a farmer and live on a farm etc' you and me both 🤣 Married someone the complete opposite but he's the person I needed the most. Funny how God does that sometimes
I love Lottie. She's so funny!
You could get an au pair (if you find somewhere to house them) and/or a WOOFer.
Awe a farm page is fun!! I really like the name-I’ve been seeing you tag the name for awhile
I live in a rural area yet trac home... we always sleep with window open. Maybe y’all can set up security system at the perimeter? Or something creative so you can sleep well. This was a really entertaining video!! Thank you!
Also, I have an irrational fear of bees. It drives my family crazy- I get very embarrassing in public if a bee flies by. 🤦🏼♀️
We raised butcher chickens one year and it was so disgusting we never did it again because none of us wanted to actually eat them after the whole process 😂.
This blouse is stunning!!😍
Would an intercom or something like that for the gate ease your anxiety? ☺😘
I wonder if you could hire a college student to be your housekeeper for the summer. I would have loved that job!
I really want your mum to get a Highland cow. That way I could live vicariously through you all.
You could put a sign at the beginning of the driveway saying “watch out, kids playing” or something like that ?
a hint - female animals generally are kept for breeding./milk production.
What would you do with the goat babies if you want to use the goats for milk?
On duck eggs: they do bake very well and they taste like a richer chicken egg. But you cannot use the whites to make meringue. They will not fluff. Too much fat in them.
Haha you perfectly echoed my opinion on cruises!! Very interesting video :)
Are you going to the Homesteaders of America conference? Justin Rhodes will be at the one in TN that we are hosting in Columbia,TN.
Thank you for sharing ♥️🤗🙏
We had a few goats that like to escape so we bought a large amount of tall dog kennel fences & put them up around goat barn & only one was able to escape when she was a baby.
I'm a little heartbroken. I can only access TH-cam and I don't want to miss anything that has to do with the family or animals. :( I love your vlogs. Always look forward to them.
Pictures of all those animals would be good for the next one. Every ten seconds I have to go out of TH-cam to Google the animals 😂🥰
I would say get some fresh dill if you make food with tomato-based sauces a little fresh dill WOW I know it sounds odd but someone told me to try it now it's a stable also fresh dill mixed with cream cheese on crackers or bagels
Loved this!! Excited to keep watching and seeing what else you do with your beautiful farm!
Love to listen about farm and homeschooling. Fidgeting with your shirts drove me nuts on this one, I had a shirt similar...flash backs. Lol
Love you and your anthro mug!
