The Unggoy have a good trigger finger, give them a semi auto watch them wreak havoc. Also, wouldn't it be best for the Covenant to give a flying f#ck about the grunts? Train the grunts to be good at a young age. Due to the grunts advanced breeding, the covenant can make more good soldiers, instead of using grunts as the fodder that they are. Think about it-it can make the destruction of humanity easier.
Halo Reach: Have nearly completed a difficult mission on heroic difficulty, only to turn a corner right into three grunts with sticky grenades strapped to their nostrils, who then proceeded to run into my arms at the speed of Husain Bolt.
In regards to strength, it's worth noting that in the novel "Contact: Harvest" one of the first encounters with Unggoy involves one ripping a man's ribcage out piece by piece before being shot. They are definitely strong enough to win an unarmed fight.
Dude, this channel is amazing. I especially love the Titanfall stuff you've put out. And your general knowledge of the lore of all the games you've covered is quite impressive.
Apparently unggoy children have multiple parents, it's covered in one of the books. I don't know if they only have two biological parents and their species are just polyamorous or if they actually have multiple biological parents. Also I've noticed that at least three species in the covenant lay eggs. Sanghieli, kigyar, and unggoy all lay eggs. I'm not sure about yanmae but as they are insects the chances are high that they do lay eggs. The sanshayum I have no idea.

Just a quick astronomy correction. Star colors move from red - a.k.a. M-class (coolest) - to blue - a.k.a. B and O Class (Hottest). White stars are middle range, typically G and F class stars, such as our sun (Sol) or Procyon. Also not sure where you heard that about the sun, but its actually white and our atmosphere shifts it to appear yellowish to our eyes.
its what we are best at, and there are some you just wouldn't beat using your brains. The Yanme'e appear to be fodder but would more than likely tear a person apart regardless of their intelligence
I do agree that Humanity and Unggoy would get along well. In hand to hand well... my first option would be to find a blunt object to bash it's skull. There's a brain in there so rattling it should do enough damage.
Man if grunts where actually trained well and given good armour and weapons they would actually be pretty strong huh. Would be interesting to see them and humans get along though.
For unarmored combat you forgot one thing - their weight. In martial arts it's almost impossible to beat somebody roughly on your skill level if you're lighter and with the ungoy 120kg it wouldn't be a fight.
Awesome work on these videos bro! I love the biological breakdown and explanation. Not a biologist, but I can definitely appreciate the science of Halo! Keep them coming!
Fun fact with the "rip the mask off" thing: Chief actually did that in the book Halo: The Flood (essentially the novel of the game). When he goes back to the PoA to blow it up, theres a Grunt hidden in a locker that shoots him in the back. This annoys him, so he rips off the mask, shoves it back into the locker and closes the door. "There was a loud click followed by wild hammering"
I want to had several supplemental observation/reflexions on your match-up: I think humans have a way bigger advantage than you think. Equipement: UNSC combat gear is composed of Titanum plates, whic cover the torso, head, forearms and front legs. It's basically an Exoskeleton, that is lighter and more durable than the natural one the Grunt displays. Range: yes, their arms are proportionally longer, but not longer than human legs, that are as stated above for this scenario, covered in armor. Plus the footwear of militaries in general is always durable and somewhat protective (basic combat boots are leather/gum). Kicks are an option, and must I say, "the" Option for this fight. Bonus: what would be a low kick into, say an human lovely bits, would be a high kick in the Grunt's chin, breathing apparatus, or even forehead. Armored or not, I don't see their brain handling concussion better than ours (admitting that the head is as in ourselves, where the thinky bits are) Mobility: there are several issues for the Grunt. They can't kick you, but they can't really outrun you either (way shorter stride). And if they do try to gain mobility with their arms, they lose offensive capabilities; and I don't think they'd really be able to outrun a human even with the added mobility given by their arms, because of my following points. Second: their base equipment is heavier than yours, and they're weaker. Balahao is 0.7 earth gravity: they're basically carrying a 10yo on their backs, while also fighting a gravity that nearly add 50% of their weight. Even if their biology was akin to humans, they'd be at a disadvantage stamina-wise: but actually, their molecular biology is also an hindrance to this battle. They're Methane breather. Ok: it's energy rich, but a pain to make react. I don't know their metabolic rate, nor the chemical reaction that power their cells, but it's clearly not something as "explosive" as oxygene. Besides, the higher cost of reaction also mean their bodies will make less with more; also caping their total activity time. It's the most speculative bit, but it still means they're overall short stacked staminawise. Environmental Conditions: Balaho is a Freezer. It's basically Antarctica. Home Turf for Human Beings (basically anyplace they fight in) will be, in comparison, like say, a Lobster trying to fight you while boiling alive. I do think the breathing apparatuses are also refrigerating equipment; their shape make them look the part to act as heat dissipation tool. Still; they're Arthropod. They don't sweat. They probably only cool while breathing. Which also mean this will impact their stamina. Given all of theses disadvantages, I actually think the Unngoys are incredibly brave and enduring, but very very unlucky: and unlikely to win a one on one with a human, anywhere except on Balaho
Holy shit man, last vid I watched you were on 300 ish subs wtf well done man. Always knew you sounded to professional for your channel size, good things come to those who care about the quality of their content!
I wouldn’t fight it if it was me vs one grunt, I would try telling it how we could get along and if they surrender and come with me they could have all the food nipples it wants. If they continue attacking I’d just run.
In the Halo canon its actually addressed that Unggoy win in CQC against humans. The one example I can think of is from the book Contact Harvest and, while they did get the upper hand by ambushing a soldier in a gang, they ripped apart one of the militias under Johnson's leadership.
a correction: maybe it’s a bit late to mention this now, but a blue star is hotter, more massive and produces more energy over a given period of time than a white star. white stars occupy the middle point of the spectral classes, while red stars are less massive and cooler, and blue stars more massive and hotter. the spectral classes range like so: O B A F G K M with spectral class O being the hottest and blue-est, and M being the coolest and red-est. for reference, our sun (which is white to our eyes) is a spectral glass G (and closer to an F than a K). so if their star is blue, it produces more energy also, the sun really doesn’t have a blue tint, it is pure white to our eyes. this is because our eyes are adjusted to see in the wavelengths of light the sun gives out most. those are basically all the colors of a rainbow (mostly green actually!). when you combine all of these colors you get pure white.

Can you cover the morphology and adaptability of Brute Wyverns in the Monster Hunter series? I always found them really interesting since they evolve into their surroundings.
Roanoke Gaming i personally love the series. Their most recent game, Monster Hunter World, is on Xbox one and Ps4, but they have a port of an older game coming to switch sometime this year. Bit of a difficulty spike for new players but i highly recommend you give the series a try!
Man why are humans so physically weak!!! We can’t even beat a grunt in hand to hand combat!!! Only by doing a cheap move like taking of they’re masks!!!
Humans are one of the few species that could survive losing multiple limbs. We're also endurance predators. If in a fight we could probably just simply outlast the grunts by avoiding their attacks. We don't need to kill them, just outlast them.
Hey Roanoke! Here's another interesting you did not mention about the unggoy, they like human soap operas! I was amused when i heard this. As you said it yourself, the unggoy would actually have a good relationship with humans. I wonder if the covenant splinter war with humanity ends, the grunts would think of showbiz. Inter species media stardom potential maybe?
I'm sure someone's mentioned it but I'll be the refresher. An Unggoy once ripped a Marine apart with its bare claws on Harvest - at the start of the war.
I know the vids old and someone may have mentioned it . But If I'm remembering right, the covenant also poisons their breathing air because the grunts are super smart or something along that lines. But if I'm remembering right they poison or drug them so they are easier to control.
Just recently subbed to your channel after watching your metro series of vids, your content's really interesting and entertaining to watch. Can't wait for your future uploads!
If I remember correctly, an Unggoy tore a person apart with its bare hands in the book 'Contact Harvest'. Said human was also the first official casualty of the Human-Covenant war.
Wow, not to long ago I remember you had 4 thousands subs, that's when I subscribed, now you got 10k, good work man, keep it up, I like watching your videos as soon as they come out👍
The Unggoy seem to be straight up better than humanity, but they also seem to have always been vulnerable in some way. The riots on High Charity tell me that if they had the foothold that humanity had when they met the Covenant, the Unggoy would've won the war with technological adaptation, strategic adaptation, and a bit of attrition.
Glad you are enjoying it bro! I am running out of morphology for halo as well as biological augmentations, might have to move into flood forms soon enough!
Great video dude! Question, where is the clip with the Grunt fighting over a toy with the Jackal? It comes out again in 13:03 and I haven't played a Halo game since Halo 4
well, depending on where it grows I suppoose, some bacteria doesnt even breathe air at all, plants take in CO2, maybe with an environment, the bonds of methane could be broken to give the grunts useable carbon to fuel their bodies
If there's one thing I'd like to see from the grunts in Halo Infinite, much like the Elites in Halo 2-3 is them teamed up with humanity, since the Swords of Sanghelios is a thing and we interact with them in Halo 5.
ayyyyeee glad you liked bro! I actually captured footage of the librarians last night and am about to write my script, I am actually pretty excited to do this one too haha
Holy shit man you went from a few hundred subscribers to 11k. Congrats man! Also did you see my previous comment? My twitter isnt working any other way to dm you the info
Taking their breathing tube wouldn't work. Well it would work but it will take a couple hours before they start to FEEL methane deprivation. In the book Legacy of Onyx, there is an Ungoy who loves the smell of fresh air, so she always left her mask at home. Long story short she passed out after class right before lunch. Great book must read. Anyway, gonna have to come up with a different plan😢
It’s true! When I first joined The Covenant that tank took some getting used too, I can’t tell you how many people I’ve whacked with that thing by turning around in front of them! You get used to it though.
I think you're severely over estimating how strong a grunt is I'm pretty sure if you ran up and drop kicked one right in its face it would die pretty quick
The grunt's home world had very harsh climates and locales, harsher than Earth's I believe, because of this it's safe to assume their durability is very high, and they can most likely take a rather large amount of damage, at least against your average human, and considering the grunt doesn't run away as soon as it finds itself the only one left in it's group, it might even be able to last against a Spartan.
DarkRipper117 They're not rare, they can make a a huge bulk of younger galaxies with lots of stellar dust. It's just that they burn through their fuel at a way faster rate than the others, so they die early in a galaxy's lifespan compared to the yellows, oranges, and reds.
Nice video! I would NEVER like to meet a grunt in real life after seeing this lol. Maybe a good suggestion is to analyse the lore behind the typhon. That would be pretty cool.
Roanoke Gaming the great thing about the game is that it trusts the player with a ton of freedom. I haven't encountered any invissible or kill barier. I had the most fun just sneaking around the station, finding all the hidden spots and neuromods.

The grunts are literally child soldiers. You're fighting people that are barely a few years old.

Roanoke Gaming i personally love the series. Their most recent game, Monster Hunter World, is on Xbox one and Ps4, but they have a port of an older game coming to switch sometime this year. Bit of a difficulty spike for new players but i highly recommend you give the series a try!
well ive got the xbox one so I may be able to actually play it then! I may have to give it a try!
@@RoanokeGaming it's an amazing game, it's on 3ds, Xbox one and PS4
Man why are humans so physically weak!!! We can’t even beat a grunt in hand to hand combat!!! Only by doing a cheap move like taking of they’re masks!!!
well we arnt that week, just other things are pretty strong!
Humans are one of the few species that could survive losing multiple limbs. We're also endurance predators. If in a fight we could probably just simply outlast the grunts by avoiding their attacks. We don't need to kill them, just outlast them.
I think its because we sacrificed our ancestors immense strength with higher intelligence
@@ddsnutz2917 and weaker bones
Hey Roanoke! Here's another interesting you did not mention about the unggoy, they like human soap operas! I was amused when i heard this. As you said it yourself, the unggoy would actually have a good relationship with humans. I wonder if the covenant splinter war with humanity ends, the grunts would think of showbiz. Inter species media stardom potential maybe?
Hey Roanoke. think you’ll make a video like this for the prophets?( if there’s enough knowledge available)
Your videos make me wonder if game developers actually put a lot of thought into their games when it comes to biology and science
All of this science makes me wonder if the designers really think all of this through when creating their aliens
Why do I feel like they’d be the best Species just to hang out with, without conflict.
Just recently subbed to your channel after watching your metro series of vids, your content's really interesting and entertaining to watch. Can't wait for your future uploads!
Never thought I'd be a fan of a scientist
;) well I am glad you enjoyed the video that much!
@@RoanokeGaming thanks for replying made my day.
8:20 pure copper begins as a blue crystal.
And Cu 2+ ions color aqueous solutions with a light blue tinge.
If I remember correctly, an Unggoy tore a person apart with its bare hands in the book 'Contact Harvest'.
Said human was also the first official casualty of the Human-Covenant war.
That was a brute I believe
It was an Unngoy called Yul, I just checked the book to make sure.
Great and interesting video! You ought to do some videos on the half life creatures as well!
I just found your content and this is amazing. Keep up the great work man. I love videos you create
Glad you like them!
You are gradually making subs bro
Congrats at being at 10K
Thanks bro! I am getting there slowly but surely!
Wow, not to long ago I remember you had 4 thousands subs, that's when I subscribed, now you got 10k, good work man, keep it up, I like watching your videos as soon as they come out👍
I am glad to hear that man! It keeps me pumped that people really enjoy watching these!
Awesome video!!! Have you done one on the elites??
Remember that clone who punched a droid in clone wars yeah that’s what I imagine it’s like to punch a grunt
I love this stuff, keep it coming
Glad you are enjoying it bro! I am running out of morphology for halo as well as biological augmentations, might have to move into flood forms soon enough!
Great video dude!
Question, where is the clip with the Grunt fighting over a toy with the Jackal?
It comes out again in 13:03 and I haven't played a Halo game since Halo 4
Halo 2! A in the mission Delta Halo it is a cut screen when you drop in, and thank you for the compliment!
Great vid and I thought that it was impossible for life out of chemosynththetic bacteria to not breath o2
well, depending on where it grows I suppoose, some bacteria doesnt even breathe air at all, plants take in CO2, maybe with an environment, the bonds of methane could be broken to give the grunts useable carbon to fuel their bodies
Those those ungoys are so adorable
adorable as long as you are 7 feet tall lol
Did you notice the grunts hand clip through the gun
not surprising! I actually have started to see a lot of clipping when you really start watching
If there's one thing I'd like to see from the grunts in Halo Infinite, much like the Elites in Halo 2-3 is them teamed up with humanity, since the Swords of Sanghelios is a thing and we interact with them in Halo 5.
I also loved the vid and I am hyped for the next one
ayyyyeee glad you liked bro! I actually captured footage of the librarians last night and am about to write my script, I am actually pretty excited to do this one too haha
Holy shit man you went from a few hundred subscribers to 11k. Congrats man! Also did you see my previous comment? My twitter isnt working any other way to dm you the info
I now I am very lucky! well, as far as a DM I think really twitter is the best way to hit me up! I dont have a facebook or Discord or anything yet
For fighting a grunt, you don't need to use your brain, you could get behind it and simply snap it's neck
Their clumsiness are prbbly the armor
It’s true! When I first joined The Covenant that tank took some getting used too, I can’t tell you how many people I’ve whacked with that thing by turning around in front of them! You get used to it though.
I'd like to see these revisited, as well as some of the others like engineers
I think you're severely over estimating how strong a grunt is I'm pretty sure if you ran up and drop kicked one right in its face it would die pretty quick
The grunt's home world had very harsh climates and locales, harsher than Earth's I believe, because of this it's safe to assume their durability is very high, and they can most likely take a rather large amount of damage, at least against your average human, and considering the grunt doesn't run away as soon as it finds itself the only one left in it's group, it might even be able to last against a Spartan.
Haven’t watched the video yet but I’m already laughing in Yapyap
If I had to best a grunt in single combat, I’d use the traditional human tactic of be fast and throw sh$t at it 😂
Small correction about Ballaho's star. Blues are the hottest stars.
From lowest to highest temperature, it's red
I was watching my video after and I was like "wait....blue is the hottest.....crap"
good catch tho bro!
also I read somewhere that they're mostly found in stellar nurseries.!!! so they're kinda rare.!!!
DarkRipper117 They're not rare, they can make a a huge bulk of younger galaxies with lots of stellar dust.
It's just that they burn through their fuel at a way faster rate than the others, so they die early in a galaxy's lifespan compared to the yellows, oranges, and reds.
Great vid loved it!!👏🏾👏🏾
hell ya bro! Glad you liked it!
Nice video!
I would NEVER like to meet a grunt in real life after seeing this lol.
Maybe a good suggestion is to analyse the lore behind the typhon. That would be pretty cool.
thanks bro! Typhon?? also yah, maybe drop kicking a grunt would work!
Roanoke Gaming oh sorry i meant the typhon from prey. Guess I forgot to mention the game they're included in ;)
Oh yah! I still need to play prey! but thats a good idea brah
Roanoke Gaming the great thing about the game is that it trusts the player with a ton of freedom. I haven't encountered any invissible or kill barier. I had the most fun just sneaking around the station, finding all the hidden spots and neuromods.
interesting! have you beaten it yet?
