      I thought I saw a Piccadilly Blue ZS EV!
      Unfortunately not, it's gone in again (4th time), there will be a video once I have the information.

    I had a lot of problems with a ZSEV Excite After a period of snow it wouldn't charge,then wouldn't start.The 12 v was being drained to the point it was reading 8v.The garage had 2 attempts to fix it and finally said moisture had got into a HV connector??!! They applied some anti moisture gunk over it.However it then wouldn't start and had a rock solid brake pedal.I suggested that the 12v battery was sulphated but after 5 more visits they swapped the 12 v with a demonstrator.That fixed it for a while,but the problem started again when it was cold.I am not sure if the quality of the 12 v batteries are the issue or something else.Maybe the cold damp conditions cause gremlins.The dealer didn't know either so I sold it a year ago.

      That is a surprise I must admit. I'll speak a bit more in the 50k mile update video but until this point, it is been reliable. That being said, I have heard of many issues with the MG 4, and I hope owners have got it sorted. The cold/damp should never cause issues, especially with EVs (obviously too cold temps can cause starting issues in ICE vehicles).
      What have you got now?

      @@KCTalksEV Funny you should mention the MG4 but I ordered one only to get a call the day before delivery saying it was dripping oil.I immediately cancelled the finance,but they said if they fixed the car I would be notified to see if I still wanted it .Then they sold the car to someone else without calling me.I currently have a Sandero Stepway Bi Fuel which has been 100% reliable.It has had 15000 miles on it in 12 months so it gets well used.Don't know about MG at the moment.Tempted by the ZSEV long range but reliability is a question mark.

    • @KCTalksEV
      @KCTalksEV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The oil issue I believe was something caused by overfilling at the factory. Personally, I believe it's just a rushed production, but shouldn't cause any reliability issues and MG have fixed it (a breather valve). I do agree that given your previous issues, I would be apprehensive. Hopefully however with time, MG will win back your trust!
      Always been interested in the Dacia Bi-Fuel range, such a shame they've discontinued it as it would have been a lifeline during the huge price rises in petrol/diesel last year!

    Bummer of a road trip but I'm sure everything turned out ok. Just out of interest; is there the luxury of choosing the type of courtesy car? Such as having a preference for an EV? In my (limited) experience with Enterprise and some other car rental companies in the UK, the availability of EVs is pretty much non-existent.

    • @KCTalksEV
      @KCTalksEV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately not, AA (which is paid for by MG when you service the car) contracts out Enterprise which just gives you anything. I had a 1.0 litre Corsa which did 57 MPG on the way down!

    This last year has been a year of faults for my ZS.
    First year was fine (apart from a parking ding when it was only a few weeks old). But since February of 2022, it's broken down 4 times. Twice when driving, once when on a charger, and this last time may have been related to the charger shutting down. AA have been pretty good at sorting recovery (although only getting 2 days car hire kinda sucks). Car recovered to the dealers the last 3 times, and on trip 3, it was then sent down to MG at Longbridge for work. Every time I've got it back, it goes 6-8 weeks, then flags up a VCS fault. It's had a new evcc installed at the dealer, but as yet, I've no idea what MG did to it down south.
    The current breakdown, 12v battery was showing low, but it wouldn't take a boost. After 24 hours on a 12v charger, AND a boost pack, I managed to get Car Scanner to clear the fault, and the HV contactor now kicks in. Haven't had a chance to test drive it yet, but when I do, it'll be going back to the dealer to see what they say.
    Hope it's a quick fix 👍

    • @KCTalksEV
      @KCTalksEV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, okay, that is a serious problem. Looking at the faults I've had, it seems that multiple parts are failing (either in succession or coincidentally), causing a vehicle control fault.
      Have you got any recourse with MG UK that you could do? I think after the 4th time I would be reaching for recourse, well played for being so patient with MG and the dealer. Let me know how you get on.

    • @mcdon2401
      @mcdon2401 ปีที่แล้ว

      @KC Talks EV car broke down again on the way to the dealer 🤣
      Had a chat with the tech. Apparently MG were very tight-lipped about what they did to it whilst it was down at Longbridge, and only mentioned a possible dodgy cell. As far as the current breakdown is concerned, they'll be looking at the 12V charging systems, since it's looking like that's what's died this time. Given the backlog of work they've had for months, I'm not expecting it to be resolved any time soon.

    • @KCTalksEV
      @KCTalksEV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've noticed that MG UK have been very quiet about certain vehicles failing (unsurprisingly), it is a shame that some cars are starting to show fairly major faults. At least at the dealer, the backlogs are definitely decreasing but I was told there was multiple cars at Longbridge! I really hope every this sorted in the end!

      Not yet, although I've had some issues my hope is that I'll be able to run this car for a good few years more. It is suitable for my needs currently, and there isn't a point of replacing it, so long as it works!

    Very sorry to hear you had so many problems. Hope you managed to get to Yeovil okay and the MG's properly fixed by now. BTW Although I haven't been there for a while I'm an occasional user of Shell at Buckden and have been wondering what they planned to do with the vacant space opposite the chargers. Now I know! Thanks again and all the best.

      Thank you for supporting and watching the videos! I got home okay (thanks to Enterprise and a Vauxhall Corsa which somehow managed 57.5 MPG!).
      My ZS EV was fixed by Thursday 19th January and seems to be fine, but I'm not confirming until it's working for a couple weeks.

    Always something wrong doing charging at places the MG haven’t been. Would not dare trying to drive that long if I haven’t used the chargers with the MG

    • @KCTalksEV
      @KCTalksEV  ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience, it hasn't ever been the chargers, weirdly I find the BP Pulse ultrachargers actually quite reliable to start (although they still do the 75-80% bug in the 2nd video). My MG has actually been very reliable with all sorts of chargers. However, I've just found out today it may be my home charger causing problems (I have doubts given it charged okay).

      Yep, under MG Assistance. They also included the relay to get the car from Cambridgeshire to Hull with no additional cost (took 3 recovery companies over the course of 3 days!)

    • @KCTalksEV
      @KCTalksEV  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, it's included every time you service your MG with a dealer. Definitely makes it worth the while IMO. Not great to have a fault but what can you do.
