I think that the bigger you get the more people you will reach, and subsequently, you will find more people who don’t agree with everything you do. Not discounting your expertise or experience, but many people have many ways of doing things. Some are right. Some are wrong. As that video has a lot of views I wouldn’t take it negatively. People are going to do what people are going to do and there’s nothing anybody can do to change it. Just remember there were only a handful of comments on the video and 350 views at this time. I would think most people of that 350 are in agreement with you and the others have done this shade tree trick and it’s worked fine for them. Don’t get discouraged and PLEASE don’t stop making videos. I love watching all these and think that you are making a difference. Keep teaching the good stuff and there will people people behind you. They might not comment, but they’re there.
I’m the same way. I keep myself to a much higher standard. All my jobs are done right even if there isn’t time and the customer is breathing down my neck. You can change appointments, you can charge a extra hour, you can run your logs with exemptions, I’m never going to hack a job. My tools are always cleaned and put back in the exact same spot before I hand in each work order. Those extra few minutes actually save time on the next job because I know where everything is.
Squared away mechanics are not that common. The ease of use really does shave so much lost time on jobs. That time adds up and it's a waste of time if the wrench is unorganized. Well said!
I’m trying to learn electrical because it’s hard to diagnose when everything has a sensor. I’m pretty green but it feels shitty. I’ve had a few cars where I just couldn’t diagnose it.
Making repairs that last have a lot to do with your integrity. What do you do when no ones watching? Do you do it right or do you cut corners to make it look like you’re faster than the next guy? “If a man is right his world will be right.”
