Putting work out for public viewing and criticism is very important, I think. My hobby is photography, but my passion for it has been growing slowly over the years. There are many days I look forward to retiring from my day job so that I can dedicate more time to my passion. Your goals are admirable, Mr Norton. I wish you success.

I once took a hobby and turned it into a business. 8 years later, I closed it down and hated the hobby so much I had nothing to do with it again for nearly a decade. When I got back into photography after a very long absence, I decided I wouldn't do that. So, photography remains a hobby I love that, occasionally, someone will throw a few buck to me to do. My 'day job' is as a marketing writer. I like it. Do I love it? No. Would I prefer to be a fiction writer? I don't think so...I've done a little of that, and it's just OK. I prefer photography to that. So, two separate creative avenues...one I get paid for, one I keep for myself. It's worked out well like that for about 12 years now.
Great discussion Daniel, I just recently retired but picked up photography right after high school and its been a passion of mine since, now I'm looking into writing that would go along with my photography and hopefully between the two it will serve a purpose to better engage with others. Thank you.
Excellent video and topic Daniel Norton, thank you for all the great points you presented us with! I think nowadays with Image Manipulation Programs The Photographer can enhance the final look of an image where decades ago it was limited.
